  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Roderick 44 c Raine b Potts (Durham 425-9 dec v Worcs 317-5)

Gareth Roderick's long resistance is over after he pulls a short one from Matthew Potts straight to Ben Raine at midwicket.

    Happy days for Pottsy. Ouch...

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Hameed c Kohler-Cadmore b Gregory 34 (Notts 256 & 72-2 v Soms 143)

Haseeb Hameed is out, but we're checking whether it is LBW or caught at slip.

It's given out caught at slip, an edge was well taken low down by Tom Kohler-Cadmore but initially was given not out. Then the umpires conferred, and the ex-Englnd opener had to trudge off unhappily.

  3. Postpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 109-4

Nick Gubbins, 38, and Ben Brown, 27, have put on an unbroken 50 for this fifth wicket.

Nothing earth-shattering yet, but it's the kind of building block the visitors will require if they are to post a competitive total. You'd think they will want at the least another 150-odd runs to give them a sniff of victory.

  4. Rain at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

The brollies are still out at the County Ground and the covers remain firmly on as a frustrating afternoon continues for Essex and Lancashire supporters.

  5. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 70-1 v Soms 173

It's been a grind at Trent Bridge since tea, but Haseeb Hameed breaks the shackles by driving Lewis Gregory through the covers for his sixth boundary of his 34 so far.

It seems to inspire Ben Slater, who hits Josh Davey through the offside for a boundary in the next over.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Higgins c McManus b Tremain 0 (Northants 198 v Middlesex 149 & 84-6)

Middlesex are big trouble here as Chris Tremain strikes again for Northants. The seamer draws Ryan Higgins into awkwardly playing a delivery back of a length and he feathers an edge into the gloves of wicketkeeper Lewis McManus. Is there a chance of a result today in this one?

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Leaning c Burgess b Barnard 9 (Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 82-5)

Ed Barnard probes away and probes away and misses and misses, until he doesn't miss. Michael Burgess takes the routine catch off the edge of Jack Leaning's bat.

Warwickshire are relentless. They smell blood here.

Sam Billings joins Jordan Cox, who gets off the mark himself with a lovely cover drive off Hassan Ali.

  8. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 and 61-1 v Soms 173

The floodlights are on at Trent Bridge where the clouds are filling in.

There are a minimum of 43 overs slated to be played, but we may be lucky to get all those in unless some spinners come on to get the over rate up a bit.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Eskinazi b Tremain 37 (Northants 198 v Middlesex 149 & 80-5)

Disaster for Middlesex straight after the tea interval as Stephen Eskinazi departs after Chris Tremain skids a full one through his defences and knocks middle stump out the ground. Middlesex have a lead of just 31 runs over Northants now.

  10. 100 runs

Century for Jack Haynespublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Durham 425-9 dec v Worcs 295-4

The 22-year-old right-hander has his fourth first class century, pushing Matthew Potts through the offside for a gritty ton eked out off 203 deliveries.

  11. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 104-4

Back underway at The Oval where there are 43 overs left, in theory, and Hampshire have the best conditions of the day in which to bat, in theory.

    Lot of theory in cricket.

In practice Nick Gubbins and Ben Brown are the ones Hampshire fans are hoping cash in.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Bell-Drummond c Barnard b Hassan Ali 40 (Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 80-4)

Oh dear. A tricky job for Kent just got trickier.

Credit to Hassan Ali who smashes one in on a length, it spits up at Daniel Bell-Drummond and he loops it up, possibly off the glove, to Ed Barnard at gully.

Kent are absolutely up against it, this potent Bears attack have their tails up.

Jordan Cox comes in to join Jack Leaning. How they need a big partnership, still trailing by 372.

  13. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Northants 198 v Middlesex 149 & 78-4

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

Northamptonshire's session as the top-order woes of Middlesex continue at Wantage Road - but Stephen Eskinazi is keeping the visitors in contention with an unbeaten 35, giving them a 29-run lead at tea with six wickets standing.

The odd delivery continues to nip and bounce - and Ben Sanderson was outstanding again with the wickets of Sam Robson and Pieter Malan in the space of three balls.

How many do Middlesex need to give themselves a chance of victory? Even 150 could be challenging for a Northamptonshire batting line-up also short of runs in the early stages of the campaign, Rob Keogh excepted.

With 41 overs remaining in the day a finish tonight is still possible.

  14. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

Unfortunately the covers are on at Chelmsford so a frustrating wait for Lancashire and Essex fans following the tea break.

  15. Postpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 103-4

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

There’s been some high class cricket played by both sides so far. Two top bowling attacks plying their trade on a wicket and in conditions that have given them help. The batters have had to work hard for every run.

But conditions are improving and Hampshire's lead is still slender. Hence Surrey may have good batting conditions when they bat for a second time.

At 58-4 Hampshire were in deep trouble. It was imperative that Gubbins and Brown took the sting out of the situation and got them through to tea. They have done. But the evening session needs to be equally as quiet from the visitors' point of view.

  16. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Notts 256 & 55-1 v Soms 173

The hosts lead by 138 with four sessions to go, Haseeb Hameed (27) and Ben Slater (7) are looking comfortable after Ben Duckett was out to Peter Siddle's first ball for 15.

  17. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Northants 198 v Middlesex 149 & 78-4

Stephen Eskinazi (35) and John Simpson have guided Middlesex to the tea interval without further loss. They have a lead of 29 runs over Northants with six wickets in hand.

  18. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Durham 425-9 dec v Worcs 293-4

It's been the opposite of Bazball in the north-east, or just old-school county cricket if you like.

The Pears have ground their to within 132 of Durham, and Jack Haynes is just two away from what would be his fourth first class century, with Gareth Roderick giving him sturdy support on 48.

  19. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 103-4

Nick Gubbins has earned his cuppa, leading the resistance with 38 and bringing up the Hampshire hundred with a sumptuous cover drive. Ben Brown has a breezy 23 to add to his first innings 95.

There are 43 overs to bowl in the final session. How many will we get through?

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Holden c Procter b Berg 7 (Northants 198 v Middlesex 149 & 73-4)

Northants veteran Gareth Berg has struck a blow just before tea to leave Middlesex in a tricky position. Left-hander Max Holden mistimed a pull off Berg and the top edge was caught by Luke Procter running backwards.
