    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 66-5

Nearly kamikaze stuff from Kent as Jordan Cox juuuust avoids being run out after pushing for a second run with Ben Compton.

They are 66-5. They trail by 229. They have 73 overs to negotiate. Head coach Matt Walker would have had kittens if he'd gone there, I'm sure.

    Dickson c Duckett b Broad 14 (Notts v Somerset 44-3, target 295)

The writing is on the wall for Somerset.

Stuart Broad shapes one away from Sean Dickson, who takes the bait, and nicks off to the safe hands of Ben Duckett at second slip.

  3. 'Essex will have to bat well'published at 12:36 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 286-7

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Colin de Grandhomme hitting one into the river has been the highlight as Lancashire press on in what has been an ideal morning session.

Keaton Jennings fell just short of his first ton of the season, George Bell made a second half-century in the match, and the lead has moved past 270.

Essex have been hampered by the fact Sam Cook hasn't been seen since leaving the field yesterday. So the prospect of Lancashire's seamers, including James Anderson, having runs to work with will leave Essex having to bat well this afternoon.

    Abbas lbw b Worrall 0 Hampshire (Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 258)

Dan Worrall has a five-wicket haul after pinning Mohammad Abbas with a beautiful full-length swinging seaming ripsnorter. 5-40. Brilliant stuff.

Kemar Roach and Tom Lawes took two apiece. Ian Holland was left stranded on 46 not out.

Surrey need 243 for victory. They are firm favourites but Hampshire have an enviable attack.

    This should be fun.

    Durham 425-9 dec & 238-3 v Worcs 366-5 dec

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The Durham skipper Scott Borthwick has scored his first century of the season - two years to the weekend since he last reached three figures. It's the 21st of his first-class career and 14th for the club.

He has also put on 196 with David Bedingham - Durham's highest third wicket stand against Worcestershire! The partnership ended when Bedingham was caught at long leg on 86, by Jack Haynes off the bowling of Adam Finch. Finch bowled him the previous delivery but it was a no ball.

Durham will declare in a few moments and set Worcestershire around 320 in 70 overs.

    Bancroft b Broad 16 (Notts v Somerset 37-2, target 295)

Stuart Broad knocking over Australian batters - don't you just love to see it?

It's an absolute beauty too, angling in and nipping away. It sends Cameron Bancroft's off-stump flying and Nottinghamshire move a step closer to victory.

    Leicestershire 329-5 v Derbyshire

Lewis Hill celebrates a centuryImage source, Rex Features

Lewis Hill becomes the second batter of Leicestershire's first innings to bring up three figures after Colin Ackermann.

Will the hosts declare soon to set up some sort of chase in this heavily-rain affected match?

    Barker c Smith b Worrall 6 (Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 258-9)

After being battered by short stuff for his entire stay at the crease, Keith Barker eventually falls that way. He loops Dan Worrall high into the air and starts walking before Jamie Smith has even caught it.

The lead is 242. Mohammad Abbas will join Ian Holland to try and extend it.

Dan Worrall is on a fivefer.

    De Grandhomme b Bracewell 38 (Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 270-7)

Colin de Grandhomme's fun comes to an end, but he's done his job and accelerated the scoring no end.

Doug Bracewell pushes one up there and splatters De Grandhomme's stumps.

Lancs now lead by 258, as Tom Bailey joins Tom Hartley in the middle.

  10. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Northants 81-3 v Middlesex, target 119

Luke Procter flashes hard at a short, wide delivery from Tom Helm, and gets a thick outside edge, but Ryan Higgins can't cling on in the gully.

Middlesex really can't afford to miss chances like those.

  11. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 258-8

Keith Barker slaps Dan Worrall in the air towards Rory Burns at a deepish mid-off, Burns opts to dive forward but can't quite get there and the ball flies past him and to the rope.

Barker showing his intent. The lead is 242. This game has been absorbing for every moment since Thursday morning, but it's coming to a crescendo.

  12. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Notts v Somerset 36-1, target 295

Cameron Bancroft is at three for Somerset, and he effortlessly strokes Brett Hutton for four through the covers to move to 16.

The Australian needs to bat long today if Somerset are to avoid defeat.

  13. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 251-8

Kemar Roach with a vociferous appeal for lbw against Keith Barker, umpire Alex Wharf is unmoved, until he moves his arm a few seconds later to click his clicker - that got a couple of people excited, but nothing doing.

Barker does look like he might be batting with discomfort after taking a battering in the first innings on his way to 58. It might of course just be that he's in the middle facing Kemar Roach and Dan Worrall with a slender lead and the game on the line on the final afternoon, of course!

  14. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 249-6

Colin de Grandhomme hits the first two balls of Simon Harmer's latest over for massive sixes that both fly out of the ground.

It's not a massive playing surface at Chelmsford, but they were big blows.

WICKETpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Leaning c Yates b Hassan Ali 5 (Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 51-5)

Rob Yates. Wow. Another blinding catch. Jack Leaning has gone.

Hassan Ali shows his class and gets some lateral movement with his sixth ball and finds the edge, Yayes gets down well to his left this time and takes another for the showreel. Leaning didn't even look back.

Jordan Cox showed some lovely shots yesterday before being bowled without offering a shot. How Kent need him to linger here with Ben Compton on 29 at the other end.

    Abbott b Roach 5 Hampshire (Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 247-8)

Kemar Roach has two in two overs with the new ball, bowling Kyle Abbott through the gate and off comes the off-bail.

It's Keith Barker o'clock. The lead is 231. Two wickets in hand. Has the pendulum swung Surrey's way?

  17. Postpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 51-4

Jack Leaning gets away with one, flicking Hassan Ali's second ball to mid-wicket where Alex Davies is unable to hold on. He might not have seen it very well, such is the murk in Birmingham this morning.

  18. Postpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Northants 198 & 69-3 v Middlesex 149 & 167

  20. 'Barker yet to appear'published at 12:02 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hants 254 & 241-7

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Hampshire need to score as many runs as they can this morning to put Surrey under pressure.

Keith Barker is yet to appear. He took a few painful blows on the hand when batting in the first innings.

He must still be suffering a couple of days later. He’s crucial to Hampshire in the lower order.

It may just be too low to make a difference when he eventually appears in the middle.
