  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Fuller c b Roach 23 (Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 198-6

Kemar Roach's third delivery with the new ball, an expansive flash from James Fuller and a simple catch at short cover for Ryan Patel.

Useful runs for Fuller but he's back in the pavilion. Kyle Abbott into the middle and we might soon get the resumption of the Abbott v Abbott duel.

Hampshire lead by 225. Keith Barker is yet to bat.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Denly c Rhodes b Woakes 0 (Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 44-4)

Remember that fourth slip. Yep. Will Rhodes is the man who catches the thick edge off Joe Denly's bat.

Not one Denly will want to watch back, he is on the walk, the hand comes off the grip, a regulation catch offered to fourth slip.

    Jack Leaning joins Ben Compton.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Jennings c Westley b Harmer 96 (Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 214-6)

There will be no hundred for Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings, who looks deeply frustrated walking off.

He looks to hit Simon Harmer back over his head, but the bat turns in his hands, and he can only plink it to Tom Westley at mid-on.

  4. wicket

    Lammonby lbw b Hutton 7 (Notts v Somerset 15-1, target 295)

I was just typing that Somerset had started well in their second innings, but Brett Hutton beats Tom Lammonby's tentative forward prod to take his seventh wicket of the match.

    Great bowling.

  5. Division Two latestpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

Durham are motoring with the bat as they look to set Worcestershire a target.

David Bedingham has just struck Matt Waite for back-to-back sixes and has a half-century to go with his first-innings hundred.

Scott Borthwick is there on 80 with Durham on 183-2 and leading by 242.

Derbyshire seamer Anuj Dal has dismissed Leicestershire batter Colin Ackermann for 114 but the hosts have just gone past 300 at Grace Road.

They're 301-3 with Lewis Hill unbeaten on 90.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Bell lbw b Harmer 56 (Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 211-5)

He's batted wonderfully, but has to go now.

George Bell pushes forward to Simon Harmer, and the South African tweaker spins one back into the young Lancashire man's pads.

On first viewing, I thought Bell might have got outside the line of off-stump, but the replay shows that was probably out.

Colin de Grandhomme is the new man, and tries to hit his first ball out of Essex - hold onto your hats, folks.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Bell-Drummond c Yates b Rushworth 3 (Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 41-3)

    Great catch from Rob Yates.

Chris Rushworth swings the ball across Daniel Bell-Drummond's line, the batter prods at it but can only edge to the tumbling Rob Yates at first slip who dives to his right and holds on superbly.

Warwickshire have been on top in every session of this match. They are seven wickets from victory and have four slips in place for this fearsome opening pair.

    Joe Denly enters the fray.

  8. 50 runs

for George Bellpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 206-4

He looks some player, this lad.

A glorious straight drive past Shane Snater brings up a second 50 in the match for George Bell.

He knows how good a shot that was, holding the pose as it flew to the fence.

An England player of the future, do we think?

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Quinn b Woakes 2 (Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 38-2)

Chris Woakes strikes, rearranging Matt Quinn's stumps as he pushed forward.

Quinn lasted 22 balls to go with his 32 in the first innings against one of the most fearsome seam attacks in this country. He's nursing a groin strain and has done himself plenty of credit this week.

Daniel Bell-Drummond joins Ben Compton. 254 behind. Eight wickets remaining. The game is really on now.

  10. Postpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 223-6

Surrey's bowling battery is extraordinary. Jordan Clark takes the old ball and manages to cut Ian Holland nearly in two with one which pitches outside off and flies over middle stump before being claimed to his left by keeper Jamie Smith.

Keith Barker remains in the hutch after his first innings 58.

    The lead is 207.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Tremain lbw b Bamber (Northants 198 & 52-3 v Middlesex 149 & 167)

Chris Tremain shuffles across his stumps, and is pinned LBW by Ethan Bamber, who just gets one to nip back.

Luke Procter joins Sam Whiteman in the middle, with Northants needing 67 more for victory.

  12. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 38-1

Matt Quinn took 13 balls to do it, but the nightwatchman gets off the mark with a lovely languid clip into the leg side.

The big paceman made a career high score in England of 22 not out in the first innings yesterday evening.

He faced one ball in Kent's 177-run win at Edgbaston last summer, hitting it for six and walking off as Kent declared.

His main role this morning is eating up time and supporting Ben Compton.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Hutton c Dickson b Gregory 28 (256 & 211-9 v Somerset 173)

Another wicket for Lewis Gregory as Brett Hutton looks to add some quick runs.

He connects well with a hard pull shot, but can only find Sean Dickson on the midwicket fence.

After Tom Moores injury yesterday, that is the end of Nottinghamshire's innings - Somerset will need 295 to win this game.

  14. 100 runs

for Colin Ackermannpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Leics 276-2 v Derbys

    Colin AckermannImage source, Rex Features

Colin Ackermann's fine start to the season continues as he follows up 67 and 72 against Yorkshire with a century.

His stand with Lewis Hill, who's unbeaten on 83, is now worth 174.

The game appears to be drifting towards a draw, but Leicestershire are looking really good so far this campaign.

  15. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 216-6

Tom Lawes is very good. He causes James Fuller and Ian Holland some intensely uncomfortable moments but they survive the thick edge and an lbw shout respectively.

Holland is onto 31 while Fuller is showing a lot of attacking intent. Maybe that's the gameplan after the early loss of Nick Gubbins. The lead is up to 200. You'd think they want at least 250 to defend here.

    Broad b Gregory 11 (Notts 256 & 210-8 v Somerset 173)

A big, ugly swipe from Stuart Broad, who loses his off-stump.

Plenty of pats on the back for Lewis Gregory, who now has 10 wickets in the match - three in this second Nottinghamshire innings to go with his superb seven in the first innings.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Gubbins c Sibley b Lawes 84 (Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 208-6

The 20-year-old Tom Lawes strikes again. Left-hander Nick Gubbins plays across the line and feathers one to Dom Sibley at slip who pouches it. Could Gubbins have got forward to that one? Maybe. Either way he's gone for 84. A big wicket for the hosts.

James Fuller is the new man, he flashes at Lawes' first delivery and gives Ollie Pope a sniff of a spectacular catch at second slip.

Nervy times for Hampshire, who lead by 197.

  18. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 33-1

After the brief delay to proceedings at Edgbaston, we're under way.

Chris Woakes takes the opening over and Ben Compton uses it to move to 17. Matt Quinn is scoreless at the other end.

Kent will very much hope the nuggety Compton is there for the majority of the day's play.

Chris Rushworth, who caused havoc yesterday afternoon, opens from the other end.

  19. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 204-5

Ian Holland dangles his bat at the first ball of Sean Abbott's second over. Abbott thinks it's got an edge but he's the only one.

His next five deliveries beat the edge too. There is nothing more Abbott could do here. Top notch stuff. One of the best overs you'll see without a wicket.

Sharp intakes of breath are already the order of the day in south London.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 16 April 2023

    Mullaney c Gregory b Siddle 33 (Notts 256 & 197-7 v Somerset 173)

Steven Mullaney skies one to mid-off from Peter Siddle and that's an early strike for Somerset as they aim to restrict Notts - they already face a daunting fourth innings chase.

The hosts currently lead by 280, and that could grow quickly and significantly if Stuart Broad gets going this morning.

He's swinging his arms menacingly as he jogs to the middle.
