    Durham 425-9 dec & 102-2 v Worcs 366-5 dec

According to the Durham coach, they have already done the maths and know where they want to be some time around lunchtime today.

Thanks to a bold declaration by Worcestershire yesterday, who walked off 59 runs behind, we suddenly had a game on our hands. Because at that point the match appeared to be going nowhere.

So Durham have to bat with intensity today, but not in a manner where they throw wickets away cheaply and don't have enough runs to defend. It should be interesting.

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 204-5

Sean Abbott is straight into the groove, drawing an edge from Nick Gubbins which flashes inches past the despairing dive of Ollie Pope at second slip and away to the rope.

Hampshire are past 200, Gubbins is onto 84, but his heart rate will likely be higher than his score.

Northants arrived this morning firmly in control of this game, but this will send shudders through the home dressing room.

Hassan Azad shoulders arms to Toby Roland-Jones, who swings one back into the left-handers pads, and that looks very out.

The hosts are two down now, requiring 89 more, on a bowler-friendly pitch.

There were only 36 overs possible yesterday at Chelmsford due to rain, but Essex and Lancashire will both think that a strong start today would leave them well placed to force a result.

Lancashire lead by 155 and will want to score quickly this morning before putting Essex in, but they have to be careful not to lose quick wickets.

Keaton Jennings is the key man for the visitors - he batted all day yesterday for his unbeaten 80 and held the innings together.

George Bell, who has impressed with both bat and gloves in this game, put on 56 for the fifth wicket with his captain yesterday before the rain put a halt to proceedings.

The Lancs pair are striding to the crease as I type, and Doug Bracewell has the ball in hand for Essex.

Bell beautifully clips the second ball of the morning through midwicket for four.

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254 & 198-5

Is there a more delicately poised match in the country today? I'm not sure there is.

Hampshire have a lead of 182 runs and have Nick Gubbins, 79, and Ian Holland, 25, resuming, looking to bat Surrey out of contention.

Sean Abbott will take the first over of the day. The new ball is available after 14 overs. Blockbuster stuff.

How many runs would Surrey's stellar lineup feel confident of chasing down for victory on the final afternoon on what looks a decent track at The Oval? Let us know your thoughts via #bbccricket

    Warwickshire 453-4 dec v Kent 158 & 27-1

Kent's prayers have been answered... sort of.

Overnight rain in the West Midlands left Edgbaston looking pretty soggy this morning. The rain has stopped, the covers are off and the mopping up effort has been going on.

The visitors were facing the prospect of batting all 96 overs of the day, with nine wickets remaining, in an attempt to save the game, needing at least another 268 runs to force the Bears to bat again.

Their task has become a lttle easier... play will begin at 11.15 BST with just 92 overs for them to navigate.

Warwickshire were denied the chance to open their campaign with a win against Somerset at Taunton by the weather last week. They'll be desperate to avoid the same fate this weekend.

There's a bit of rain about down the spine of the country, but fingers crossed we'll get some play at all our grounds today.

Just a reminder that the Division Two game between Gloucestershire and Yorkshire was abandoned without a ball bowled yesterday, but we've stil got seven matches to complete.

Let's have a look at the latest scores...
