    Middlesex 216-9 v Kent 186

Wes Agar and Sam BillingsImage source, Rex Features

Another six for Ryan Higgins, pulling Wes Agar over square leg, Zak Crawley was a foot underneath that on the rope, but HE'S GONE NEXT BALL.

Higgins is caught just inside the rope at long-on by Michael Hogan and Kent have stopped the bleeding. The Middlesex lead is 30. Can they see off Ethan Bamber or Murtagh?

up for Derbyshirepublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9d v Derbys 165 & 51-2 f/o

Say it quietly but Derbyshire appear to have settled.

There was again mayhem with two wickets in two overs having been asked to follow-on but Wayne Madsen, 23, and Brooke Guest, 17, are getting into their work.

It's definitely a decent wicket and Derbyshire should be able to make Durham work much harder in this second innings.

But the damage is almost certainly already done.

  3. wicket

WICKET - Helm lbw b Hogan 20published at 17:29 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 206-8 v Kent 186

    Michael HoganImage source, Rex Features

A breakthrough for Kent, but not the one they wanted.

Michael Hogan angles one in to Tom Helm who is struck on the pad as he inches forward. Up goes the finger and off goes Helm.

Ryan Higgins has 65 and Tim Murtagh gets off the mark with a tasty clip past deep square leg for four.

  4. wicket

WICKET - Byrom lbw b Scriven 51published at 17:27 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Leicestershire 407 v Glamorgan 123-2

Tom Scriven gets his revenge later in the same over. Eddie Byrom takes a big swipe across the line, the ball clips the pad and runs through to the keeper, and he has to go.

A more than useful knock and the end of a 123-run partnership for the second wicket.

The new batsman is Sam Northeast. He scored 410* not out here 279 days ago. How fresh are those memories?

  5. wicket

WICKET Foakes c Rhodes b OHD 39published at 17:27 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 142-5

    Ben FoakesImage source, Getty Images

A huge wicket for Warwickshire as Ben Foakes chips a catch to Will Rhodes. That is a surprise, given the assured way he had been playing and he is pretty disgusted with himself as he walks off.

Foakes' dismissal ends a stand of 44 with Jamie Smith, who has now been joined by Cameron Steel.

Looks like we may also have a change of ball.

  6. 50 runs

for Eddie Byrompublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Leicestershire 407 v Glamorgan 123-1

He's largely played second fiddle to Marnus Labuschagne but Eddie Byrom raises his bat for his 12th first-class fifty after cracking Tom Scriven to the fence.

  7. 50 runs

for Cheteshwar Pujarapublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Glos v Sussex 187-3

    A hard-earned fifty for India's Cheteshwar Pujara.

    131 balls and eight fours.

He's steering Sussex into a strong position with 20 overs still left in the day.

  8. Postpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 195-7 v Kent 186

Ryan Higgins is moving through the gears and Middlesex have moved into the lead.

A vicious square pull begins Wes Agar's over and from the next ball he picks him up supremely to crack a lusty six over deep mid wicket towards the scorer's box.

All of a sudden a batting point and a lead of 65+ doesn't seem so very far away.

  9. Postpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 142-4

Ed Barnard sends down a short one and Jamie Smith has an age to position himself to pull it away for four.

Barnard overcompensates with the next and a half-volley is struck effortlessly past the on-side of the stumps by Smith for another boundary as he moves to 24 not out.

  10. 50 runs

for Ryan Higginspublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Ryan HigginsImage source, Rex Features

It's felt pretty inevitable since he strode out to the middle but that's a fourth consecutive first-innings half-century for Ryan Higgins.

A premeditated pull to finish off Matt Quinn's over beats the man at the deep square leg boundary and he raises his bat after a 93-ball knock with seven fours.

He came in at 62-5. What a priceless effort this has been, Middlesex look like establishing a decent first innings lead at this rate.

for Marnus Labuschagnepublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Leicestershire 407 v Glamorgan 104-1

From 88 balls with four fours, the last of which was a textbook cover drive off Wiaan Mulder to bring it up.

It's not been his most comfortable afternoon but his class has shone through at times. He takes the applause around the ground. A century up for the visitors with a century stand. A positive recovery indeed.

  13. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9d v Derbys 165 & 37-2 f/o

There's barely a moment to breathe in this match.

Derbyshire have stopped the rot to a degree and are rattling along at over five-an-over at the moment.

Wayne Madsen and Brooke Guest trying to get a partnership going for the visitors.

The deficit is still 250 and the visitors have got to pull off something extraordinary to get back in the game.

  14. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 130-4

Ben Foakes again makes it look like a very easy game as he places a ball from Chris Rushworth between cover and point and it runs away for four. The England keeper is now 37 not out.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Hollman b Quinn 32published at 17:02 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 165-7 v Kent 186

Matt Quinn returns to the attack and returns to the wickets. This vital 75-run partnership is at an end.

Quinn finds a neat line and Luke Hoillman just dangles his bat and gets a little inside edge which nudges across towards leg stump and removes the bails.

Ryan Higgins is four away from a half-century in a fourth straight match. Tom Helm joins him.

  16. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 124-4

Jamie Smith whips an inswinging delivery by Chris Rushworth away for four. That was aerial and not too far away from Alex Davies, but the deficit is reduced to 26.

  17. Postpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Gloucestershire strike shortly after tea.

It's a goodun from Ajeet Singh Dale.

Tight line and good length forcing Tom Alsop to play, it goes across him and finds the edge to the solitary slip.

  19. Postpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 143-6 v Kent 186

Ryan Higgins, he of the half-century in every match this season, and Luke Hollman have added 53 for this wicket and moved to 33 and 27 respectively.

The sun is out in central London and Kent are rotating around their attack trying to find some inspiration. Middlesex are 43 away from a first innings advantage.

Is that another life for Marnus Labuschagne? Chris Wright finds the outside edge and the ball fizzes low to Peter Handscomb's right.

I think that might have bounced as Handscomb's glove arrived, either way, the World's No1 batsman has led a charmed life in the last 10 minutes.
