WICKET Ali lbw b Potts 1published at 16:44 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9d v Derbys 165 & 7-2 f/o

Matty Potts also strikes in his first over!

He's full and straight, Haider Ali back on his stumps, misses and his stone dead lbw.

36 overs tonight, can Derbyshire even make it to day three?

  2. Sussex lay solid foundationpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Gloucs v Sussex 144-2

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Credit the groundstaff here at Bristol, who have worked a minor miracle to get the ground fit for play today after heavy and persistent rain yesterday and overnight.

Gloucestershire struck in third over of the day with Ali Orr attempting an ambitious reverse sweep off Zafar Gohar, only for the ball to balloon in the air and give the easiest of catches to wicketkeeper James Bracey.

Since then Tom Alsop has batted with his usual calm authority, and with Cheteshwar Pujara has added an unbroken 86 for the third wicket.

Pujara has not been his usual fluent self, but he’s battled through against some excellent bowling, and Sussex have laid the foundations for a decent first innings total on what looks a good pitch

  3. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwickshire 150 v Surrey 120-4

A maiden from Oliver-Hannon-Dalby to Ben Foakes ends an absorbing afternoon session at Edgbaston with the statutory 32 overs remaining for the final session.

Warwickshire have kept things tight, but despite getting rid of England's Ollie Pope for eight, the 2022 champions are only 30 behind, with Foakes well set on 31 not out.

The Bears need a couple of quick wickets, and if they don't get them, Surrey could well have a handy lead by close of play.

  4. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Leicestershire 407 v Glamorgan 73-1

Marnus Labuschagne survives an almighty appeal for lbw from Wiaan Mulder. I'll be honest, I'm not sure why that's not out. Bang in front, not too high. You've seen them given ever day of the season. Was there an edge? We'll never know.

Hands on heads everywhere you look. Mulder's had an injury-hit start to life at Leicester but that would have been a big scalp to get him off and running.

  5. wicket

WICKET Godleman lbw b Raine 0published at 16:35 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9d v Derbys 165 & 1-1 f/o

Durham strike straight away after tea as Derbyshire follow on!

Billy Godleman again our lbw to Ben Raine around 3 hours after his first dismissal.

He records a pair in a single afternoon having faced only seven balls!

  6. Postpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 128-6 v Kent 186

Big appeal from Grant Stewart for lbw against Luke Hollman. The corden all go up in unison but I think the umpire has heard two noises there, a faint nick onto the boot.

Stewart stalks off with a face like thunder but his mood isn't improved three balls later when Ryan Higgins edges one a yard short of third slip.

Kent are desperate to wrestle back the initiative in the evening session and these two have added 39 for the seventh wicket already.

  7. Postpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 120-4

Jamie Smith is settling in nicely for Surrey and drives Hasan Ali pleasantly past mid-off for his second boundary. He is nine not out and Ben Foakes has 31. One more before tea? Who knows.

  8. Durham ask Derbyshire to bat againpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9 dec v Derbyshire 165

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Luis Reece saved Derbyshire from the embarrassment of being bowled out for less than 100 in CLS.

Batting at number seven, he made 56* and crucially put on a final wicket partnership of 68 with Sam Conners. Conners was the last man to go, stumped off the bowling of Lancashire loanee Matt Parkinson for 29.

When the two came together Derbyshire had been 97-9 and were earlier 4-6 at the end of the third over. Six batsmen failed to make double figures and both openers went for ducks.

The sun is out now so batting might be a bit easier, but Durham have enforced the follow-on. The Derbyshire first innings only lasted 34.3 overs!

  9. Tea scores round-uppublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Division One

    Middlesex 122-6 v Kent 186

    Warwickshire 150 v Surrey 111-4 - still in play

    Division Two

    Durham 452-9 dec v Derbyshire 165

    Gloucestershire v Sussex 138-2

    Leicestershire 407 v Glamorgan 64-1

  10. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 111-4

Ben Foakes is quietly gathering runs in his highly effective, non-flamboyant fashion and punches Oliver Hannon-Dalby away off the back foot for four and progresses to 30 not out.

The BBC commentators are unsure when tea will be taken and settle for 'when the players walk off' as the definitive answer.

  11. wicket

WICKET - Conners st Robinson b Parkinson 29published at 16:12 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9 dec v Derbys 165

He's taken a bit of punishment but loan signing Matt Parkinson brings Derbyshire's innings to an end as Sam Conners comes down the track, lifts his head, makes no contact and it's a comfortable low stumping for Ollie Robinson.

Conners put on 68 with Luis Reece, who is left unbeaten on 56, but despite their efforts, it's likely Derbyshire will be asked to bat again, 287 behind on first innings.

Parkinson took 1-18, but the main wicket-takers for Durham were Ben Raine and Matty Potts with three each.

    They will take tea.

  12. wicket

    WICKET - Patel c Hain b OHD 27published at 16:11 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 99-4

An important wicket for Warwickshire just before tea.

Not sure what Ryan Patel was doing there, shuffling forwards out of his crease and then effectively giving catching practice to to second slip.

Jamie Smith is in at number six.

  13. 50 runs

for Luis Reecepublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9d v Derbys 155-9

What a fine effort in a hopeless situation.

Luis Reece gets to fifty in 58 balls with five fours.

Complete humiliation avoided but still miles out of the game at the moment.

  14. Tea at Bristolpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Glos v Glam 138-2

Hard going for Sussex with 49 overs in the books.

Tom Alsop is 63, Cheteshwar Pujara is 28, they’re steady.

Just the one wicket today for Gloucestershire.

    37 overs scheduled after tea.

  15. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 98-3

Ed Barnard's seven over spell comes to end - 0-18 are his figures - as Hasan Ali takes over for another burst before tea.

Ben Foakes and Ryan Patel have been together for 16 overs now and Foakes pushes a single as the only addition in the 17th.

  16. Tea at Grace Roadpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Leicestershire 407 v Glamorgan 64-1

Under 50 days until the Ashes and just before tea at Grace Road we had a treat with 18-year-old England spinner Rehan Ahmed coming on to bowl at Marnus Labuschagne.

What's this? A little bit of turn? One off the over. Something to watch later on! The summer is officially here people, especially if you don't look outside!

Glamorgan have recovered from their nightmare start, losing David Lloyd second ball for no score, with Ed Byrom (34) and Labuschagne (26) giving them a platform to build from.

  17. Tea at Lord'spublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 122-6 v Kent 186

It's been Kent's afternoon although Ryan Higgins (26) and Luke Hollman (17) have provided some stiff resistance.

The deficit is still 64 runs but this is looking more like it might end up as a straight one-innings shootout.

There are 45 overs remaining in the day and you can bet they won't be dull.

  18. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 452-9d v Derbys 133-9

Luis Reece proving what could have been here for Derbyshire.

He’s got to 37 and has Sam Conners for company in the highest stand of the innings.

Even to just eat up a bit more time and put a couple more miles in the bowler’s leg may would help come the follow-on.

  19. Postpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 112-6 v Kent 186

Ryan Higgins is down on his haunches for the second time in the space of a few overs after being struck amidships by a delivery.

Michael Hogan was the first bowler, this one was Grant Stewart. There is nothing you can do at a moment like that except squeeze your eyes shut, plaster on a grimace and count to 10. After seeing the replay, maybe 20.

Higgins picks up his bat and uses it to wallop Stewart to the fence later in the over. The man has some mettle.

  20. Postpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 92-3

Surrey are slowly but surely clawing their way towards that Warwickshire first innings total. This has been a very good spell by Chris Woakes, but his latest over is again wicketless as Ben Foakes and Ryan Patel are content with a couple of singles.
