    Leics 407 v Glamorgan 53-1

Leicestershire put themselves in the driving seat against Glamorgan as they passed 400 in the first innings for the third consecutive match thanks to fine, but contrasting, innings from England teenager Rehan Ahmed (90) and experienced Australian Peter Handscomb (95).

After Ahmed biffed the ball round in the morning, the serene Handscomb steered the total past the 400 mark with nine wickets down as the innings fell away slightly, and was trying to keep the strike for his century when he edged one from Michael Neser.

There were two wickets each for Neser and the medium pace of David Lloyd to add to the six-wicket haul of Timm van der Gugten, who along with Neser bears a heavy responsibility in the Welsh side’s attack at the moment.

In reply, Lloyd was undone by a lifting delivery from Chris Wright second ball which he edged to slip, before Eddie Byrom slashed a ball from Mike Finan just over the slips. But Byrom and Marnus Labuschagne put together a half-century stand despite the bowlers continuing to find movement off the pitch.

Short and wide from Michael Finan and Eddie Byrom flicks the wrists to cut away square to the fence. He's onto 25, Marnus Labuschagne has a breezier 23 at the other end and Glamorgan have past 50 with this 52-run partnership, of course.

A rare bit of width offered up by Chris Woakes at the start of a new over and Ryan Patel's eye is good as he cracks it for four.

Luke Hollmann opens the face and carves Wes Agar square through the off side for four to take his side into three figures and himself into double figures.

Agar replies by beating the bat and then drawing an edge which doesn't quite carry to third slip. Can't take your eyes off this one.

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 75-3

Surrey are half-way to the Warwickshire total following back to back boundaries by Ben Foakes off Ed Barnard.

The first is forced away backward of point off the back foot and he then drives straight back past the bowler, a glorious stroke.

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 67-3

Ryan Patel tries to square cut a ball from Chris Woakes. It's too close to him for that shot and he is fortunate not to get a nick. Just 10 runs conceded by Woakes from seven overs so far in this innings. Miserly.

And there is Tom Alsop’s fifty with his sixth boundary.

Forced to be very careful. 123 balls.

    Second half-century of the season.

Big wicket. Michael Hogan finds the seam and poor old John Simpson can't avoid the edge to the keeper. Sometimes you just have to hold your hand up and say that's unplayable. That's four catches for Sam Billings.

Luke Hollman joins Ryan Higgins who is on 14. Kent will be desperate to see him off before tea.

This has been very steady going for Sussex with Gloucestershire keeping things very tight.

Cheteshwar Pujara is just seven from 55 balls!

Tom Alsop a bit more fluent on 48 but still striking at only 40/100 balls.

For lovers of rhyme, it's time for Woakes to Foakes.

    It's another maiden.

If Surrey are to establish a significant first-innings lead, they are going to have to work for it.

Still 52 overs to be bowled today.

A quieter spell, perhaps understandably. The sun has disappeared once again, the floodlights are fully on and John Simpson and Ryan Higgins know how imperitive it is for them to dig in here.

A leading edge from Higgins off Matt Quinn leads to a scampered two and the Middlesex deficit is down to double figures.

Chris Wright gets one to jag back in on Marnus Labuschagne who shoulders arms... if there was a lick of paint on that off stump I reckon he'd be out. Reminiscent of Michael Neser's delivery to oust Wiaan Mulder yesterday. Stonking stuff.

Time for a change and Warwickshire hand the ball to Ed Barnard for the first time in this innings.

The Bears certainly have plenty of seam bowling options when you consider the likes of Liam Norwell, Craig Miles and Henry Brookes aren't playing in this game.

It's a good start by Barnard - a maiden to Ryan Patel, who remains on 12.

Rory Burns punches a ball from Chris Rushworth past mid-on and it rolls away to the boundary.

The Warwickshire seamer sticks to his customary line and length, though, and Burns is gone, adjudged leg-before offering no stroke. No-one to blame there but himself.
