  2. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Leics 122 & 140-2 v Derbys 350-7 dec

Things continue to go Leicestershire's way at Derby despite the post-lunch loss of Rishi Patel.

But they are still in jeopardy despite Lewis Hill having 61 and Colin Ackermann 12 - the deficit is now 88.

  3. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 33-2 (target 295) v Lancs

Matthew Montgomery has started nicely for Notts, producing two crunching cover drives for four and there's certainly no problem with the batting side's run-rate after nine overs of this chase.

The issue is those two early wickets, one each to Tom Bailey and James Anderson, but Montgomery and Ben Slater have responded well so far.

  4. wicket

WICKET Harmer c Burns b Abbott 9published at 14:18 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 170-8 v Surrey 240

Looks like Tom Westley might not need to bother about a declaration.

Sean Abbott takes his third wicket as Simon Harmer goes aerial, but picks out Rory Burns at long-on.

    Essex are 244 in front.

  5. Postpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 53-9 v Warks 410-8 dec

James Vince slams Chris Woakes through cover for four and the Hampshire total crawls past 50.

Chris Rushworth will continue for the 12th over of his single spell, which was interrupted by the lunch interval.

Classy stroke by Azhar Ali brings up his half-century from 151 balls, dispatching Fynn Hudson-Prentice clinically to the off-side boundary.

Azhar, who's occupied the crease for three hours, and Adam Hose have added 79 so far. They've guided Worcestershire into credit after lunch - the lead over Sussex is currently 24.

  7. wicket

    WICKET Bracewell c & b Abbott 8published at 14:10 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 163-7 v Surrey 240

Doug Bracewell drives Sean Abbott through backward point for four.

He is late on the short one that follows and flat bats a looping catch which the bowler himself runs across to take.

Essex lead by 237 as Shane Snater comes to the crease.

  8. wicket

WICKET Zaib c Leach b Overton 33published at 14:07 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Somerset 412 v Northants 255 & 174-4

An excellent catch from Jack Leach at long-leg spells the end of Saif Zaib's sprightly knock.

Zaib whips Overton into the leg-side, but can't keep it down and Leach hangs on just inside the boundary rope.

Rob Keogh joins Sam Whiteman in the middle.

  9. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 111-2 - target 492

Big moment in this game! Marnus Labuschagne drops a straightforward chance at second slip after Timm van der Gugten found Adam Lyth's outside edge.

It was a good height, and didn't arrive that quickly - the Australian will be kicking himself.

  10. wicket

WICKET Critchley c Smith b Clark 18published at 14:02 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 154-6 v Surrey 240

    Jordan ClarkImage source, Rex Features

Matt Critchley pulls a short one from Jordan Clark and Jamie Smith takes a good catch in the deep. Essex are 228 ahead - how many more do they want?

  11. Postpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 48-9 v Warks 410-8 dec

Chris Rushworth overpitches for once and James Vince cracks it through cover for four. Whatever the situation, the Hampshire skipper is never going to pass up a scoring opportunity like that.

  12. wicket

WICKET Hameed c Bell b Anderson 4published at 13:57 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 12-2 (target 295) v Lancs

How many times have we seen Jimmy Anderson produce deliveries like this one?

Tricky length, leaving the bat - and Haseeb Hameed can only feather it behind.

Notts in trouble now, with both openers gone cheaply and Lancashire have their tails up...

  13. wicket

WICKET Bairstow c Labuschagne b Van der Gugten 0published at 13:56 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 105-2 - target 492

Jonny Bairstow never looked comfortable, and he nicks off for a nine-ball duck.

It wasn't quite there to drive, but he flashes at a wide one from Timm van der Gugten and Marnus Labuschagne swallows the chance at second slip.

Yorkshire continue to keep us all guessing with their batting order, as George Hill comes out to bat ahead of Dawid Malan and Saud Shakeel.

  14. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 39-9 v Warks 410-8 dec

Only the sixth boundary of the innings as James Vince clips Chris Woakes through mid-wicket. Of little consolation, though.

  15. Postpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Somerset 412 v Northants 255 & 162-3

Saif Zaib has come out after lunch with a spring in his step for Northants, sending both Jack Leach and Craig Overton to the fence.

    He has 24 from 29.

  16. wicket

WICKET Duckett b Bailey 8published at 13:53 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 12-1 (target 295) v Lancs

Tom Bailey strikes - and it's a big wicket, that of England opener Ben Duckett!

The left-hander was trying to steer Bailey on the off side and looked as though he got an inside edge, with the middle stump sent flying.

Ben Slater comes out to join Haseeb Hameed as Notts chase this fourth-innings target of 295.

  17. for Chris Rushworthpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 35-9 v Warks 410-8 dec

Kyle Abbott didn't take the field for Hampshire at the start of play and his appearance with bat in hand lasts just five deliveries.

After James Vince takes his first run from 22 balls faced, Abbott edges to the keeper and gives Chris Rushworth his seventh wicket - to go with three in the first innings.

Hampshire on the brink. How much longer will this one last?

  18. 50 runs

for Lewis Hillpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Derbys 350-7 dec v Leics 122 & 118-2

    Lewis HillImage source, Rex Features

Lewis Hill reached a 90-ball 50 with a low edge between first and second slip for four.

But he has now lost partner Rishi Patel, who was caught behind off an absolute jaffer by Sam Conners.

Petal faced 99 balls and hit a six and nine fours in a fine innings. He and Hill added 113 for the second wicket.

  19. wicket

WICKET Pepper c Sibley b Abbott 10published at 13:45 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 134-5 v Surrey 240

Michael Pepper edges into the gap where first slip would normally be and gathers four streaky runs.

He comes down the track to the next one from Sean Abbott and slashes a catch to Dom Sibley, stationed at third man.

    Essex's lead is 208.

Jonny Bairstow is at number three for Yorkshire...

Giving him time in the middle, or an unlikely afternoon victory charge?

    We'll soon find out.
