  1. wicket

WICKET Fuller c Yates b Woakes 1published at 13:41 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 34-8 v Warks 410-8 dec

Two balls into the afternoon session and Warwickshire have another.

Chris Woakes produces one which leaps a bit off the pitch and James Fuller is taken at first slip by Rob Yates.

The radio comms tell us that James Vince has seen six partners come and go since he started his innings - and he has yet to score a run.

  2. Harmer could be key for Essexpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 129-4 v Surrey 240

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

As often happens, an attempt to accelerate has produced wickets.

With a lead of 203 Essex now face the dilemma of how much risk to take in making a declaration that realistically gives themselves enough time to bowl Surrey out.

Dan Lawrence’s 28 off 25 balls gave some impetus and Nick Browne was trying to push on in the team’s cause when falling for 47. The pitch remains decent for batting but there has been some grip and variable bounce throughout. No spin was seen this morning but there’s every chance that Simon Harmer could have more of an impact in the final innings.

  3. Sussex 'heavily reliant' on Robinsonpublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Worcs 264 & 109-3 v Sussex 373 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good morning for Worcester who have cleared the arrears and are now effectively 0-3 with another 67 overs to be bowled

Ollie Robinson has again looked far and away the pick of the Sussex seamers, taking two wickets this morning and now has 10 in the match.

However, with Nathan McAndrew not in the side, Sussex are heavily reliant on Robinson taking these remaining wickets, and on what looks a good pitch Worcester will feel they have every chance of salvaging a draw.

Azhar Ali and Adam Hose have looked comfortable in sharing a 50 partnership, although Ali was maybe fortunate to survive a run out when Robinson hit the stumps from mid on, with the umpire not in the ideal position to give a decision

  4. Lyth let-off may cost Glamorganpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorkshire 106 & 99-1 v Glamorgan 245 & 352-4 dec - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

So near but yet so far for Yorkshire’s opening pair as Glamorgan finally struck with the ball before lunch with Timm van der Gugten having Finlay Bean leg before for 21.

The junior partner had looked largely disciplined until the closing minutes of the session against a Glamorgan attack that was tidy enough but far less menacing under sunny skies second time round.

Adam Lyth, timing the ball well, is on 62 not out, including a pulled six off first-innings destroyer Michael Neser who strangely came on first change. But he was dropped on 48 as James Harris could not hold a caught and bowled chance.

A target of 492 to win looks out of sight, and a draw is now the favourite result.

  5. Lancashire declarepublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 329-8 dec

Lancashire have declared their second innings at lunch at Trent Bridge.

Tom Hartley is left 58 not out, with all-rounder Lyndon James taking 3-45 for the home side.

Notts will need to score 295 in 67 overs if they are to record their second victory of the season.

Chris Rushworth's bowling at the Ageas Bowl this morning has been magnificent. The former Durham seamer has nine wickets in the game and 624 in first-class cricket overall. How impressed have you been, Warwickshire fans, since his arrival at Edgbaston? Get in touch.

*Always seems unfair to us that when players as good as Rushworth don't get even one game at international level. Playing in the Anderson/Broad era hasn't helped his chances, though.

    Derbys 350-7 dec v Leics 122 & 112-1

    Rishi PatelImage source, Rex Features

Rishi Patel went to 50 off 87 balls by coming down the pitch and whipping Mark Watt away for four with plenty of bottom hand.

He follows that by dabbing Zak Chappell down to the third man boundary and reaches lunch on 57 not out.

Patel has put on 107 with Lewis Hill - who has 46 - and the visitors are going well, having begun the day needing 228 to avoid an innings defeat.

  9. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Somerset 412 v Northants 255 & 66-1

    Jack LeachImage source, Getty Images

Sam Whiteman and Saif Zaib successfully navigate their way to lunch, and this game is finely poised.

Whiteman has batted throughout the morning, looking comfortable against both spin and seam, and has moved onto 67.

Jack Leach has taken the two wickets to fall, bowling Jordan Buckingham round his legs, before taking a sharp catch off his own bowling to remove Hassan Azad.

A few more quick wickets this afternoon, and Somerset will be well on top - Northants still trail by 10.

  10. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 129-4 v Surrey 240

Only one run from the final ball before lunch as Essex end a ferentic morning's batting with a lead of 203.

After losing Alastair Cook to the second ball of the day, they have added 105, with Nick Browne making 47 and Dan Lawrence 28 off 25 balls.

Surrey's Gus Atkinson has added two wickets to his six in the first innings, but it looks like we are going to see a declaration at some point this afternoon.

  11. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 329-8

A wicket in the final over of the session leaves Lancashire 294 ahead - and their approach in recent overs suggests a declaration may be imminent.

Tom Bailey's was the eighth wicket to fall, trying to scamper a bye but wicketkeeper Joe Clarke hurled the loose ball to bowler Luke Fletcher, who completed the run-out.

Tom Hartley has batted extremely well for his unbeaten 58, sharing a key stand of 91 with Steven Croft (49).

  12. Lunch at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 34-7 v Warks 410-8 dec

James Fuller takes a single from the final ball before the interval but it looks like Hampshire are going to need something approaching a miracle - or a prolonged deluge - to extricate themselves from this situation.

Warwickshire added 46 to their 364-5 at the start of play - with Ed Barnard falling for 95 - before declaring 181 ahead.

Since then, it has all about Chris Rushworth, and the former Durham seamer has 6-24 from eight overs with the new ball.

At least Hampshire don't need to worry about a record lowest score against the Bears - they were all out for 15 at Edgbaston in 1922.

  13. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Worcs 264 & 109-3 v Sussex 373

Worcestershire have moved to parity at lunch, with Azhar Ali unbeaten on 35 and Adam Hose alongside him on 28.

The pair have added 55 so far after Ollie Robinson claimed two wickets earlier in the session to complete a 10-wicket match haul.

  14. wicket

WICKET Bean lbw b Van der Gugten 21published at 13:00 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 99-1 - target 492

    Glamorgan have the breakthrough!

Finlay Bean plays all round a straight one from Timm van der Gugten and is wrapped on his front pad.

That's a straightforward decision for the umpire - it would have clattered into middle and leg.

With that, the players head in for lunch.

  15. wicket

WICKET Holland lbw Rushworth 0published at 12:58 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 33-7 v Warks 410-8 dec

Rushy strikes again - and now has 6-23.

That is a pretty ungainly defensive shot from Ian Holland and he is plumb in front.

You can only imagine what James Vince is making of this at the other end - he has yet to score from 19 balls faced.

WICKET Croft c Clarke b Hutton 49published at 12:56 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 322-7

Steven Croft won't be following Tom Hartley to 50 - he's just got out trying to heave Brett Hutton through midwicket and getting an edge behind instead.

That ends the partnership of 91 - and suggests Lancashire, who lead by 287, are thinking about a lunchtime declaration...

What a way to reach your half-century!

Tom Hartley's first career 50 came earlier in the season against Essex - now he has a second and it's well deserved.

Hartley nonchalantly stepped down the track to Brett Hutton and slammed the bowler back over his head for four - then followed it up by hooking him for six later in the over.

  18. for Chris Rushworthpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Hants 229 & 33-6 v Warks 410-8 dec

There is his first five-for since making the move from Durham.

Chris Rushworth produces another beauty which cuts back in and flattens Liam Dawson's middle stump.

There could not be a better example of how to exploit the conditions than this. Superb stuff from the Warwickshire seamer.

  19. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Yorks 92-0 - target 492

Finlay Bean cuts David Lloyd away behind square for four for his first boundary of the day.

He has very much played second fiddle to Adam Lyth so far, but that was a nice shot - he moves on to 20.

  20. wicket

WICKET Browne c Jacks b Atkinson 47published at 12:50 British Summer Time 7 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 119-4 v Surrey 240

Eight wickets in the match now for Gus Atkinson as Nick Browne pulls to Will Jacks at deep mid-wicket and falls three short of a half-century.

Michael Pepper in now for Essex, who are closing in on a 200 lead.
