LANCASHIRE ALL OUTpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Bad news - James Anderson will not come out to bat as Lancashire end their innings on 326-9, trailing by 35 runs.

Daryl Mitchell's fine 177-ball knock of 105 is brought to an end by a catch in the deep by Tom Lammonby off the bowling of compatriot Matt Henry who finishes with 4-73

A great performance by the New Zealand pair at Old Trafford.

  3. 50 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 50-0 trail by 121

    Middlesex's solid start continues.

Mark Stoneman is 26 and Sam Robson 22.

Great chance here for an under-par line up to find some form and save this game.

Still plenty of time for Surrey to find a way through - and they've seen Warwickshire jump above them in the table after their victory over Essex earlier.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Hartley c Abell b Henry 47 (Lancashire 321-8 v Somerset 361)

The game is moving on rapidly at Old Trafford.

Tom Hartley takes the unfortunate Kasey Aldridge for six, four and and another four in successive balls to race to 47.

He tries to give Matt Henry the same treatment but can't clear Tom Abell and is caught in the deep.

A stunning 69-ball knock after a difficult start.

  5. 100 runs

for Daryl Mitchellpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Lancashire 306-7 v Somerset 361

A classy knock from Daryl Mitchell.

The New Zealander becomes just the 11th Lancashire player to score a century on debut and gets there in 173 balls.

He reaches the mark with nine fours and two sixes.

On a side note, Lancashire have a second batting point and now trail by 55

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Abbott lbw b Evison 2 (Kent 95 v Hampshire 340-7)

    One brings two.

Joe Evison has his second wicket of the day as he traps Kyle Abbott in front.

A brief six-ball stay, but the Hants lead is already a substantial one and a third batting point is in sight.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Dawson c Muyeye b Qadri 84 (Kent 95 v Hampshire 337-7)

    The century has gone begging.

Liam Dawson goes after off-spinner Hamidullah Qadri but doesn't get hold of it and picks out Tawanda Muyeye to fall 16 short of his ton.

  8. 6 runs

for James Fullerpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Kent 95 v Hampshire 330-6

    That's gone like a missile!

James Fuller carts Wes Agar through the covers for a maximum which smacks into the advertising hoardings on the full.

Fuller's now on to 44 from 45 balls.

  9. 6 runs

for Daryl Mitchellpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Lancashire 289-7 v Somerset 361

Daryl Mitchell is on the attack.

The New Zealander launches the first ball of Kasey Aldridge's 17th over back over the bowler's head for a big six.

Two balls later he helps himself to a boundary. He takes 14 off the unfortunate Aldridge in that over and swiftly moves on to 92.

On the verge of a debut ton for the Red Rose.

  10. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leics 123-4 v Sussex 430

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

The big question for Sussex this week was who would take the wickets in the absence of Ollie Robinson and Nathan McAndrew

The answer so far is Fynn Hudson-Prentice, who turned the game on its head taking three quick wickets after Leicestershire had comfortably reached 70-1

However from 79-4 Wiaan Mulder and Peter Hanscomb have added an unbeaten 44 for the 5th wicket, Mulder in particular with some sumptuous cover drives

Aside from Hudson Prentice the Sussex attack has looked fairly pedestrian, and they’ll need to bowl better as a group if Sussex are to make further inroads after tea

  11. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Durham 109-2 (Target 246) v Yorks

Durham on course for victory tonight.

Michael Jones is 49 and David Bedingham 10.

What can Yorkshire's attack find in the final session?

  12. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Lancashire 265-7 v Somerset 361

Lancashire have fought back well against Somerset in the afternoon session.

Daryl Mitchell (76) and Tom Hartley (17) have continued to chip away at Somerset's lead which is now down to 96 with three wickets in the can.

But the visitors know that quick wickets after tea would soon put them in the driving seat.

A minimum if 39 overs are still due today.

  13. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 30-0 trail by 141

Steady start for Middlesex and 42 overs left after tea.

Earlier Surrey worked their way to three batting points having made 380.

Jamie Smith's fine 97 led their progress.

  14. Tea at Canterburypublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Kent 95 v Hampshire 308-6

A much better session for Hampshire as they take total control of this match.

The visitors lost five wickets for 86 this morning, but have added 119 in the afternoon session for the loss of just one wicket, Ian Holland (41) who fell to Joey Evison.

Liam Dawson has been the spearhead with a fluent unbeaten 77, while James Fuller has joined in the fun with an entertaining 24.

The lead is an imposing 213.

  15. NOTTS BEAT NORTHANTS BY AN INNINGS AND 25 RUNSpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Northants 158 & 72 v Notts 255

Notts have wrapped up an incredible win in only 31 overs.

A second complete shocker with the bat from Northants and they have lost by an innings despite only conceding 255.

Tom Taylor has a big hack at Brett Hutton and nicks off.

Hutton was the star of the first innings with 5-48 and Dane Patterson has taken 5-16 in the second dig.

Miserable batting from Northants whose two innings have lasted only a single day's worth of overs.

Big problems for Northants while Notts can look up the table.

  16. 250 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Lancashire 254-7 v Somerset 361

Daryl Mitchell's sixth boundary of his innings takes Lancashire to a first batting point

At the other end, the new ball pair of Craig Overton and Matt Henry gave Tom Hartley quite the working over.

But the ball kept on missing his edge and the Lancashire number nine has made his way to 11 off 37 balls, while Mitchell has eased to 71.

Jack Leach is now back on as Overton takes a breather. He took a tumble in the final over of his spell so it may be a consequence of that.

The Somerset lead is down to 107.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Buckingham run out (Hutton) 2 (Northants 66-9 trail Notts by 31)

Oh wow, when it rains eh.

Tom Taylor drives Brett Hutton back down the wicket and the bowler gets fingertips onto the non-striker's stumps with Jordan Buckingham short of his ground.

    Surrey v Middlesex 19-0 trail by 152

Lots of work to for Middlesex to get out of trouble here.

It's a decent start with a boundary each to Sam Robson and Mark Stoneman.

  19. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Kent 95 v Hampshire 304-6

Liam Dawson plunders the latest four of the Hampshire innings to bring up a 50-run stand with James Fuller.

They've raced there in just 44 minutes off 61 balls.

Some turnaround after the batting travails of this morning.

  20. wicket

Five wickets for Dane Pattersonpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Berg c Hutton b Paterson 4 (Northants 64-8 trail Notts by 33 runs)

    Northants are gone here.

Gareth Berg drives loosely at Dane Patterson outside off and edges high to second slip.

The fielder does very well to get hands to it and the rebound is caught by Brett Hutton at first slip diving away from the wicket.

Patterson, the South African seamer, had 5-15 in nine overs.
