for Michael Jonespublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 86-0

A fourth half-century of the season by Michael Jones arrives off 73 balls as he tucks Matt Taylor away for a couple of runs. Will this be the day he converts it into a three-figure score?

  2. 50 runs

for Adam Hosepublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 121-3 - target 271

Adam Hose drives powerfully back through the legs of bowler Tom Scriven for four and reaches his 50 from 66 balls.

He and Gareth Roderick have so far added 85 for Worcestershire's fourth wicket and they need another 150 for victory.

  3. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 442 v Essex 298

Dane Paterson holes out off Matt Critchley and that is the end of a productive morning for Notts at Trent Bridge.

Matthew Montgomery added 47 to his overnight 130 not out and Essex will start their second innings this afternoon 144 in arrears.

Sam Cook and Matt Critchley took three wickets each, while Simon Harmer returned figures of 1-100, with Stuart Broad left on 14 not out.

    Notts 442-9 v Essex 298

Another Simon Harmer over and Stuart Broad swings his first delivery away over mid-wicket for six.

Harmer's unwanted bowling century arrives as the England paceman thumps it away in a similar direction, this time for four.

  5. 50 runs

for Marnus Labuschagnepublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 217-3

Marnus Labuschagne has been rather patient this morning, but he takes a fancy to the left-arm spin of James Coles.

Short outside off stump and Labuschagne cuts it for four. Then he sweeps the next ball over midwicket for six.

10 runs in two balls and that brings up his 50.

It has taken 123 balls, with six fours and three sixes and it's his third half-century of the county summer.

WICKET Simpson b Overton 1published at 12:58 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 131-6 v Somerset 404

From 116-2, Middlesex's batting has collapsed, and not for the first time this season.

Somerset's bowling is good, but this is a soft one as John Simpson tries to cut a wide one from Craig Overton and plays on.

The Cider Boys fancy an innings victory here as Middlesex remain 98 in arrears.

  7. 200 runs

up for Glamorganpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 205-3

Kiran Carlson brings up his team's 200 in the grand manner with a six over long-off from the bowling of James Coles.

This partnership is now worth a valuable 82, although Glamorgan still trail by 151.

Well, who saw that coming?! Oh, yes, right...

Rory Burns (36*) and Dom Sibley (16*) bludgeon their way past their meagre target of 58 inside 12 overs, finishing the game with five sessions and change to spare.

Tom Lawes' maiden fivefer (5-22) helped whip Kent out this morning for 141, having been 78-1 last night, leaving the modest target.

Leaders Surrey take 22 points, Kent add four to their tally at the foot of the division.

  9. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 127-5 v Somerset 404

The quality of Somerset's attack has shone through this morning.

Only 46 runs conceded in 26 overs and four wickets picked up. None for Matt Henry or Lewis Gregory, but two for Peter Siddle and one each for Craig Overton and Jack Leach.

Middlesex's batters have found it a huge challenge.

  10. wicket

WICKET Montgomery lbw Critchley 177published at 12:52 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 428-9 v Essex 298

Matthew Montgomery reverse sweeps Matt Critchley for four and is only one run short of the 178 he made against Durham last September - his maiden first-class century.

But he won't beat it as he tries to repeat the stroke in the next over but makes no contact and Critchley's appeal is upheld.

Montgomery batted for 470 minutes, faced 318 balls and hit 26 fours. OK, he was dropped two or three times - it was still a superb innings.

  11. wicket

WICKET Keogh lbw b Dawson 34published at 12:49 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 120-5

Another for Liam Dawson, he whips in an arm-ball which scoots on quickly at Rob Keogh and thuds his pad in line with off stump.

A gritty knock from Keogh but he has to go.

James Sales joins Saif Zaib in the middle.

  12. wicket

WICKET White lbw b Leach 3published at 12:46 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 127-5 v Somerset 404

Somerset's morning gets better and better!

And Tom Abell is having a belter as captain! He throws Jack Leach the ball for the first time this morning and for the third time, a bowler strikes in his first over.

Leach gets one to pitch and straighten a touch, coming round the wicket to Robbie White, and he gets the decision.

Middlesex five down and with a mountain to climb, with a deficit of 102 as they follow on.

  13. 50 runs

partnership for Durhampublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 63-0

Alex Lees sweeps Zafar Gohar for four as he and Michael Jones post a half-century opening stand.

He then brings out the reverse sweep for another boundary and Jones ends the over by hammering the left-armer majestically straight for six.

It could be a long afternoon ahead for Gloucestershire as the Durham lead reaches 216.

  14. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 33-0 - target 58

Rory Burns produces an incredible reverse sweep - kind of, more of a reverse thwack - of spinner Jack Leaning over third for six.

He wants it done, Kent probably do as well in a way.

25 to win from 999 deliveries.

  15. wicket

WICKET Holden lbw b Overton 13published at 12:40 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 127-4 v Somerset 404

Craig Overton bowlingImage source, Rex Features

This is turning into a super morning for Somerset.

Craig Overton replaces Peter Siddle at the Pavilion End and strikes in his first over back.

He goes very full to Max Holden, striking him in front. But coming round the wicket, is it drifting down legside?

The length is probably what has done for the batter.

Middlesex still trail by 102 runs and are in BIG trouble.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hutton c Snater b Harmer 8published at 12:40 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 422-8 v Essex 298

Simon Harmer is wicketless no more.

It wasn't his finest delivery but Brett Hutton obligingly lobs to Shane Snater at mid-wicket.

Nighthawk Stuart Broad is the new batter.

  17. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 96-3 - target 271

Wiaan Mulder begins a new over and Adam Hose square cuts for four. The bowler is disappointed with himself and Hose is 36 not out.

  18. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 418-7 v Essex 298

Simon Harmer certainly won't be adding this pitch to his list of favourites. Brett Hutton belts the spinner over mid-wicket for six and he is still to take a wicket in this innings.

  19. 100 runs

up for Northantspublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 103-4

Saif Zaib has come in and taken the visitors into three figures.

    The deficit is still 208.

53 runs added this morning for the loss of two wickets... a significant improvement on 56 all out yesterday.

  20. Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 45-0

All going smoothly for Durham at Bristol as Alex Lees square cuts Matt Taylor for four. Remember that the visitors chose to not enforce the follow-on earlier this morning.

Two balls later, Lees repeats the shot as he is again given too much width and reaches 19 not out.
