    Worcs 129-3 - target 271

Back out at New Road and Gareth Roderick scores his first run of the afternoon from the bowling of South African Wiaan Mulder.

It was Worcestershire's morning, but one wicket and things could suddenly look very different.

  2. 'Oh Glammy, Glammy'published at 13:54 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 240-3

It's a nice day for cricket in Sussex-by-the-sea and when Kiran Carlson nudges one behind square for four off Jack Carson, there are chants of 'Oh Glammy, Glammy' from the stands.

It's great that those fans have travelled from south Wales to Hove and it sounds like they have had a good (liquid) lunch!

WICKET Sales lbw b Abbas 8published at 13:52 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 143-6

Absolutely plum lbw. James Sales falls to the opening ball of the afternoon session, he's pinned in his crease by Mohammad Abbas, tentatively standing still and waiting for the ball to come to him. Feels avoidable.

Tom Taylor comes in to join Zaib.

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 143-5

168 runs in arrears, Saif Zaib - on a season's best 36 not out - and James Sales head out to the middle.

Mohammad Abbas gets the ball for the opening over of the afternoon session.

  5. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 235-3

That single was part of an eventful over from James Coles.

The left-armer was awarded five wides off one ball, two off a second and one off a third. That is eight runs and three extra balls.

Overall 12 off the over and the partnership is now worth 112.

for Kiran Carlsonpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 230-3

Kiran Carlson reverse sweeps James Coles and that single brings up his half century.

A nice start to the session for him. Carlson made tons in the first two games, but he's had a lean run since then.

    Notts 442 v Essex 298 & 7-0

Stuart Broad will open the bowling at the start of Essex's second innings.

A no-ball gets the scoreboard moving and Nick Browne adds a single from the next delivery.

Broad's old mate Alastair Cook comes onto strike and a wayward ending to the over adds four byes to the total.

  10. Dropped catches check Sussex progresspublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 223-3 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Sussex making steady headway through the Glamorgan batting line up, although an unbroken century partnership between skipper Kiran Carlson and Marnus Labuschagne has halted their progress.

Ollie Robinson, who doesn’t appear to be bowling at full tilt, had Carlson dropped at third slip when he was on three - a sharp chance to James Coles.

And then Jack Carson couldn’t hold onto a firm drive of his bowling, as Carlson escaped for a second time when on 21.

The fascinating Labuschagne Robinson duel of last night hasn’t quite materialised so far today, but with a new ball available in 17 overs battle could recommence at some stage this afternoon.

  11. Game still in the balance at New Roadpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 83 & 128-3 v Leics 173 & 180 - lunch

    Dan Wheeler
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Almost the perfect morning for Worcestershire, who've climbed a few more floors of their match-winning skyscraper thanks to a defiant century stand between Gareth Roderick and Adam Hose.

After the loss of Jack Haynes, who wasn't impressed with his LBW decision, the pair have ground it out superbly.

They've seen off the threat of Chris Wright and Josh Davey through a combination of high skill and that little bit luck that every batter needs.

The pitch is still offering something to the seamers has it has done all match, the ones that explode off a length giving Roderick and Hose the sense that a ball will have their name on sooner or later.

Hose has brought up a muscular second half-century of the season while his partner has played the support role to perfection. Despite having runs in the bank and time on his hands Foxes skipper Lewis Hill has been reluctant to gamble with extra close catchers to take advantage of the irregular bounce.

You'd say this match is still 70:30 in Leicestershire's favour but another hour or so of what we've seen this morning and that will soon change.

Just a single for Gareth Roderick from the final over of the morning, bowled by Josh Davey, and it's job done so far by Worcestershire.

Chasing a target of 271, they have added 102 for the loss of Jack Haynes when the score was only 36.

Adam Hose has 57 not out from 82 balls, with Gareth Roderick on 40 in the supporting role, and the Pears need another 143 to win.

  15. Somerset on course for Lord's victorypublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 140-6 v Somerset 404 - lunch

    BBC Radio Somerset

    Peter SiddleImage source, Rex Features

Somerset's best bowling session of the season, as they took five Middlesex wickets for just 59 runs and virtually assured themselves of a first Championship victory.

All five of their bowlers are internationals, and all five of them bowled like it, maintaining a relentless line and length to starve the batters of runs and pick up wickets at regular intervals.

Pick of the bowlers? For my money, that would be Peter Siddle, who rolled back the years to bowl Stevie Eskinazi and Mark Stoneman, both beaten for pace.

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 101-0

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Opener Michael Jones has notched his fourth half century of the season. Can he go on to get his first hundred of the campaign this afternoon?

His highest score this year is 87 in the opener at Hove. Having left a straight one on day one here in Bristol, when on 13, he's made up for it today.

The 50 included three big sixes off spinner Zafar Gohar - the third went through the gap for the stairs in the stand to our right and found its way into the car park.

Jones now has 57 and fellow opener Alex Lees has 37 and Durham's lead is 254.

  17. Lunch at Southamptonpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 143-5

In normal circumstances this wouldn't be the best morning for Northants, but in their current state it's been a pretty positive one.

Liam Dawson has picked up three wickets, including overnight pairing Sam Whiteman and Rob Keogh, but the visitors have scored 93 runs.

Saif Zaib made 29 of Northants' total of 56 on Friday. He is unbeaten on 36 at lunch thanks in part to carting a full-toss from Mason Crane over the deep square boundary for six.

James Sales is with him at the other end on eight.

The deficit is 168. They won't be thinking about that though.

  19. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 140-6 v Somerset 404

    A five-star five-wicket morning for Somerset at Lord's.

Five wickets shared between three bowlers and only four more needed to wrap up an innings victory.

Lunch will taste good for them, not so good for Middlesex, who are staring at a fourth loss in six games.

  20. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 223-3

Marnus Labuschagne guides one down to the vacant third man boundary for four and then runs down for another single to end the session.

That brings up the 100 partnership between him and Kiran Carlson. Labuschagne is on 58 and Carlson has 49.

It has been a good comeback after those two wickets in two balls from Jack Carson.

However, Sussex still lead by 135, so Glamorgan still have an awful lot of batting to do.
