  1. wicket

WICKET Stewart c Pope b Clark 6published at 12:01 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 139-9

Jordan Clark comes into the attack and strikes with the fourth ball of his opening over, tempting Grant Stewart into a drive outside off which flashes an edge low to Ollie Pope at second slip.

The lead is only 55. It's Michael Hogan time.

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 136-3

Nearly a first of the innings for Ollie Robinson!

He gets an edge off Kiran Carlson and it flies low to James Coles at third slip, but he can't hold on.

  3. Last-wicket pairs shine at Bristolpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Glos 292 v Durham 445 & 19-0

    BBC Radio Newcastle

Despite Gloucestershire failing to reach the follow-on target, Durham have decided to bat again, thus avoiding the fourth innings on a track which looks like it will do quite a bit for the spinners.

Durham's final pairing put on 71 yesterday and today Gloucestershire's 10th wicket stand was 65. That's their joint highest partnership for the final wicket against Durham, equalling a record set in in CLS in 2003, by Jack Russell and Mike Smith.

Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel took 5-113, but it was England's Matthew Potts who claimed the final wicket, bowling Ajeet Singh Dale for 15. Josh Shaw made 37 at the other end.

The hosts missed out on a second batting point by eight runs. So in terms of bonus points Durham lead 7-4. It's a sunny but cool day in Bristol. There's no rain in the forecast either.

  4. wicket

WICKET Cox c Foakes b Abbott 15published at 11:56 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 127-8

Another. Jordan Cox tries to pull a shorter ball from Sean Abbott which is drifting down leg but can only feather a catch which Ben Foakes takes smartly, diving to his left.

Arafat Bhuiyan comes in to join Grant Stewart.

  5. 150 runs

for Matthew Montgomerypublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 359-6 v Essex 298

Well batted, Matthew Montgomery, who uses his feet to get to the pitch before driving Simon Harmer through mid-off for four.

It's the 23rd of his innings and on both occasions when he has made a century, he has gone on to pass 150.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 83-2

Well this has been more like it. Rob Keogh in particular is playing very nicely this morning. He gets a big stride forward to punch Keith Barker through the covers to the fence.

Liam Dawson has come on to try a bit of spin and Keogh edges to James Vince at first slip but he can't hold on diving to his right. Sharp chance but it's another slip drop to go with Dawson's two yesterday.

Sam Whiteman cracks Dawson to the ropes to bring up the 50 partnership. Building blocks.

The deficit is down to 228

  7. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 136-3

Marnus Labuschagne has played one sumptuous shot through the covers off Jack Carson, but he has played quite carefully.

He has Steve Smith standing close by at slip, and it's clear there is a bit of chat in the air between these two Australia stars.

Labuschagne's wicket, as ever, is the key one in the Glamorgan batting.

  8. 100 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 101-2 v Somerset 404

Max Holden gets off the mark straight away to bring up his side's 100.

The deficit is still 128 with wickets left. Someone is going to have to go big for Middlesex today to have any chance of getting out of this hole.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Patterson-White c Harmer b Porter 12published at 11:51 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 355-6 v Essex 298

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Essex have the breakthrough as LPW falls to Jamie Porter, edging an attempted cut to Simon Harmer at second slip. Calvin Harrison is the new batter, with partner Matthew Montgomery on 146 not out.

  10. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 355-5 v Essex 298

Essex hand the ball to Simon Harmer for the first time this morning.

The spinner has 0-58 from 17 overs and Notts milk a couple of singles from that one.

  11. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 113-7

From 78-1 in the 20th over to 107-7 in the 30th.

Collapses like this have punctuated the start of Kent's Division One campaign, though in fairness Tom Lawes has been superb for his maiden fivefer.

Kent's last visit to the capital ended in a nine-wicket defeat at Lord's on a Saturday afternoon at the end of April... the third-day script is being followed almost to the tee here.

  12. 6 runs

Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 56-3 - target 271

Josh Davey is short of a length and Adam Hose pulls powerfully over square leg for six. It takes the right-hander into double figures and Worcestershire need another 215 for victory.

  13. wicket

WICKET Eskinazi b Siddle 28published at 11:45 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 99-2 v Somerset 404

Peter Siddle is thrown the ball and he comes up with the goods second ball.

His first delivery is a wide juicy half-volley, which Stevie Eskinazi helps through the covers for an easy four.

The contrast with the next ball could not be greater as Siddle produces an absolute jaffa, as it pitches on middle and flicks the off bail.

Eskinazi can't quite believe how that got past him, but he has been done by a quality piece of bowling.

  14. Third batting point for Nottspublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 350-5 v Essex 298

Here comes Jamie Porter for his first over of the morning - and the final one before the bonus points cut-off.

Shane Snater thinks there might a chance of a run out but fails to gather the ball one-handed at mid-on and Matthew Montgomery trots through for two as the Notts total reaches 350.

  15. Postpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 95-1 v Somerset 404

Watchful stuff in the first 40 minutes at Lord's from the Middlesex batters.

Mark Stoneman and Stevie Esinazi have added 14 runs from 11 overs against some accurate bowling from Matt Henry and Craig Overton.

Henry has an LBW appeal against Stoneman, but the batter is probably outside-off when the ball hits him.

  16. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 9-0

Left-armer Matt Taylor angles the ball across Michael Jones, who cracks it away for the first four of Durham's second innings.

Ajeet Singh Dale has the new ball at the other end and Alex Lees whips him through square leg for an early boundary.

  17. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 346-5 v Essex 298

Lack of a consistent line costs Shane Snater as Matthew Montgomery punches him through the covers for four, and two balls later pulls to square leg for another. Montgomery is now 140 not out and Essex badly need to get rid of him.

  18. Robinson v Labuschagne resumespublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 131-3

Ollie Robinson v Marnus LabuschagneImage source, Rex Features

Wit those two wickets from Jack Carson, the ball is thrown to Ollie Robinson for his first spell of the morning.

Marnus Labuschagne is at the other end.

The Aussie gets a couple off the second ball and when Robinson then goes too full, Labuschagne whips it with real class down to the midwicket fence.

    Six off the over.

  19. WICKET Evison b Lawes 5published at 11:37 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 107-7

Fivefer for Tom Lawes. 5-15. His first in his professional cricket. What a day for him. Joey Evison's off-stump cartwheels away in the sunshine.

Kent lead by 23. Grant Stewart joins Jordan Cox in the firing line.

  20. Durham decide to bat againpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445

Despite leading by 153, Durham skipper Scott Borthwick has decided not to ask Gloucestershire to follow-on.

Perhaps he's mindful of Ajaz Patel's view that batting last on this pitch will be a "challenge".
