    Notts 442 v Essex 298 & 31-0

Notts introduce the left-arm spin of Liam Patterson-White and Nick Browne strokes the first boundary of the Essex second innings through the covers. The visitors need another 113 to achieve parity.

WICKET White b Dawson 4published at 14:24 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 168-9

It's six for Liam Dawson. He's one away from career best figures. Jack White backs away and backs away and presents arms, only to have his off stump clattered.

Debutant Alex Russell joins Saif Zaib for the remainder.

  3. 50 runs

for Saif Zaibpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 167-8

The left-hander was the standout in the first innings with 29 of Northants' 56 runs and has gone even further in the second.

The 24-year-old brings up his eighth first-class half-century and first of the season from 78 balls with a sweep off Liam Dawson for four, his seventh, to go with his one six.

    Something to celebrate, at least.

  4. 150 runs

partnershippublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 279-3

Jack Carson tosses one up and Kiran Carlson thumps it through the covers. Four.

And that is the 150 partnership for him and Marnus Labuschagne.

Then Carson drops short and legside and Carlson works it away for another boundary.

The pair work another three singles off the over to make it 11 as they continue their serene progress.

    Worcs 159-3 - target 271

Is this the same pitch they were playing on when 32 wickets fell over the first two days?

Adam Hose square cuts Chris Wright for four as Worcestershire pass 150 and then flays a no-ball through cover for another.

He is 76 not out and the Pears need another 112.

  6. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 161-6 v Somerset 404

Middlesex are in enough trouble without the prospect of a run out!

Ryan Higgins takes a risky single and sees the stumps dislodged at his end, but umpire Ian Blackwell rules it not out.

Luke Hollman faces Matt Henry and gets four more with a beautiful punch off the back foot to the short boundary.

  7. Five-wicket haul - Buckingham lbw b Dawson 1published at 14:16 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 158-8

Only the sixth time Liam Dawson has taken a first-class fivefer which is surprising.

He pins Jordan Buckingham with another arm-ball which scoots through and thuds the pad to give him 5-48 off 15 overs.

153 runs required. Two wickets remaining.

  8. wicket

WICKET Borthwick lbw Gohar 2published at 14:14 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 122-2

Scott Borthwick goes back, offers no shot and the ball spins sharply back into his pads. That's out.

We bet Durham's Ajaz Patel was happy to see the way that ball behaved, sitting in the dressing room.

    Their lead is 275.

  9. Postpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 158-7

For the second day running Saif Zaib has been hit on the hand by a delivery. It was Keith Barker yesterday, this time it's Mohammad Abbas. He looks to the sky and grimaces in pain. It looks like his thumb which was on the handle of the bat.

  10. Deficit down to under 100published at 14:12 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 267-3

That is beautiful from Marnus Labuschagne.

Overpitched from Aristides Karvelas and it's driven with real style by the Australia number three.

With Ollie Robinson off the field, Glamorgan have added 44 runs since lunch and they have brought the deficit down to 91.

  11. 150 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 152-6 v Somerset 404

There has been little to celebrate for Middlesex in this innings or this match, but Luke Hollman brings up the 150 with a cracking cut shot.

The deficit is down to 77.

  12. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 442 v Essex 298 & 21-0

A pleasant drive by Nick Browne brings him three runs off Stuart Broad, who then goes past the outside edge of Alastair Cook's bat. A quiet start to the innings.

  13. 150 runs

up for Northantspublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 150-7

Saif Zaib sweeps Liam Dawson through deep square for four to move to 41 and bring up the 150.

A smattering of sympathetic applause is how BBC Radio Northampton's Andrew Radd describes the reaction of the crowd.

They'll need another 150 - and change - to make Hampshire bat again.

WICKET Taylor lbw b Dawson 0published at 14:04 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 148-7

Tom Taylor thinks he's got an inside edge onto his pad, but the finger is up and he has to go for a pair. This one was 10-balls, twice as long as his first innings stint.

    Liam Dawson has four wickets.

Jordan Buckingham comes in to join Saif Zaib.

  15. wicket

WICKET Lees b Akhter 40published at 14:04 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 119-1

We wonder whether Zaman Akhter might benefit from a break in the Durham openers' concentration over lunch.

Looks like the answer may be yes as Alex Lees goes right across his stumps and is bowled behind his legs.

  16. 250 runs

up for Glamorganpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 252-3

A lovely on-drive from Kiran Carlson off Fynn Hudson-Prentice gets him a boundary.

It sees Glamorgan reach 250 and helps Carlson overtake Labuschagne. He now has 66 compared to the Australian's 62.

  17. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 119-0

Spinner Zafar Gohar is wide outside leg stump and Michael Jones sweeps. He doesn't middle it but make a good enough contact to collect four runs to fine leg.

Nothing wrong with that one, though, as he ends the over with a six over square leg to move to 70 not out. Durham lead by 272.

  18. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 143 v Somerset 404

Somerset have resumed after lunch with 88 Test caps between them in the form of Peter Siddle (67) and Matt Henry (21).

Quite the challenge for Ryan Higgins and Luke Hollman.

Higgins is lucky to survive as he is beaten by a pearler from Henry that pitches and moves away towards the slips.

  19. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 105-0

Gloucestershire hand the ball to debutant Zaman Akhter following the lunch interval at Bristol.

He was expensive in the first innings but maybe the break might have disturbed the concentration of Durham's openers. We shall see.

Three off the bat and a leg bye from it.

No sign of Ollie Robinson on the field since lunch.

He bowled eight overs before the interval, going wicketless and has not reappeared with the rest of his Sussex team-mates.

One to keep an eye on.
