  1. 100 runs

up for Kentpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 102-6

Kent have limped into the lead at the Oval courtesy of a boundary apiece from their young batters Jordan Cox and Joey Evison plus 10 extras off Tom Lawes.

The lead is 18 but with just four wickets remaining, it's going to take the biggest wag of the tail in this match to give them any hope of a defendable total.

  2. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 59-2

The sun is out at Southampton, there doesn't seem to be too much assistance for Mohammad Abbas and Keith Barker in the air this morning.

The track is fairly benign, and the Northants batters are rotating the strike where they can. This is the blueprint for the next, ooh, 175 overs or so.

  3. Postpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 123-3

Here comes the stand-in Glamorgan captain Kiran Carlson to face the hat-trick ball.

    And he survives....

  4. wicket

WICKET Northeast lbw c Carson 0published at 11:30 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 123-3

Two in two for Jack Carson! The Northern Irish spinner is on a hat-trick!

Sam Northeast goes back to one that drifts in and he is absolutely pinned in front of his stumps.

  5. wicket

WICKET ul-Hassan st Carter b Carson 43published at 11:28 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 123-2

A case of get Carter for Zain ul-Hassan!

He goes for a sweep shot off Jack Carson's off-spin but gets none of it. However, his back foot oversteps slightly and Oli Carter is onto it in a flash, whipping off the bails.

Terrific bit of wicketkeeping and Sussex have the breakthrough.

Zain ul-Hassan falls seven short of a half-century on debut after battling for 112 balls.

  6. Labuschagne's last bat for Glamorganpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

Marnus Labuschagne has resumed this morning in what will be his final bat for Glamorgan before he joins up with Australia ahead of their Ashes and World Test Championship final summer.

He has scored one century and two half-centuries in his five matches so far this season and he would love to sign off with something substantial.

Ollie Robinson got him out for one on Thursday with the first ball he bowled at him and they had a fascinating contest yesterday afternoon.

Of the 16 balls he bowled at the Australia number three, there were 15 dots and just one boundary for Labuschagne.

Unfortunately that contest has not yet started today as Jack Carson and Aristides Karvelas have opened the bowling for Sussex.

  7. wicket

WICKET Singh Dale b Potts 15published at 11:25 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445

Gloucestershire's first innings comes to an end as Ajeet Singh Dale attempts and airy drive and Matthew Potts bowls him through the gate for figures of 3-43.

The home side trail by 153 - but Singh Dale and Josh Shaw (37 not out) equal the club record stand of 65 for the 10th wicket against Durham, set by Jack Russell and Mike Smith 20 years ago.

  8. wicket

WICKET Haynes lbw Davey 22published at 11:25 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 36-3 - target 271

Jack Haynes is lbwImage source, Rex Features

Jack Haynes is not happy. He looks to sky before slapping the back of his bat. Does he think there was an inside edge?

Leicestershire, though, have their first breakthrough of the morning as loan signing Josh Davey claims another wicket and now has figures of 3-25.

  9. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Notts 338-5 v Essex 298

Doug Bracewell drops short and LPW pulls for four. He is nine not out and Notts are 40 in front.

  10. 50 runs

for Mark Stonemanpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 93-1 v Somerset 404

Craig Overton drifts onto Mark Stoneman's pads and he gets an easy single to bring up his fifty.

This has taken 83 balls and is just a second half century of the summer for the Middlesex opener.

To be fair, most of Middlesex's top order have struggled in these early weeks of the Championship season.

  11. Postpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 35-2 - target 271

Tense stuff at New Road. Just three runs added from the last three overs, the most recent a maiden by Chris Wright to Jack Haynes.

  13. wicket

WICKET Crawley c Pope b Lawes 34published at 11:18 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 83-6

Tom Lawes has 4-3 in just over four overs. He's in the zone.

Zak Crawley edges to Ollie Pope at second slip who pouches while bouncing to his left like a kangaroo and Kent are 5-5 since the last three overs last night.

Joey Evison is the new man in, he produced a superb rearguard effort in the first innings... how Kent could do with another, and more, here.

  14. 50 runs

partnership for Gloucestershirepublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 278-9 v Durham 445

Josh Shaw is down the track and lofts Ajaz Patel's left-arm spin away over mid-wicket for six. A single follows and that brings up a half-century stand with Ajeet Singh Dale for the 10th wicket.

Gloucestershire are 167 behind at the end of that over.

  15. T20 Blast ready for actionpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

As well as the seven County Championship matches, there are two T20 Blast fixtures today:

    • Derbyshire Falcons v Lancashire Lightning - starts 14:30 BST
    • Birmingham Bears v Yorkshire Vikings - starts 18:30 BST

We'll tell you how you can listen to commentary on those games a bit later on, but for now, take a look at our preview by clicking here.

  16. Postpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 265-9 v Durham 445

Josh Shaw and Ajeet Singh Dale continue to eke out runs for Gloucestershire as they try to avoid any prospect of following on.

Four from the latest Ajaz Patel over and England's Matthew Potts will continue at the other end.

  17. Postpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 32-2 - target 271

Josh Davey can't believe it. He finds the edge of Jack Haynes' bat but the ball runs away past third slip for four runs.

Worcestershire need another 239 to win.

  18. wicket

WICKET Billings c Foakes b Lawes 0published at 11:08 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Surrey 362 v Kent 278 & 82-5

Sam Billings has a pair. Tom Lawes has 3-3. An absolute peach. The absolute worst ball you can imagine when you're trying to get into form.

Bit of rise off the pitch, a glance off the shoulder of the bat and through for a routine catch for Ben Foakes. Kent have lost 4-4 in the last half-hour of play.

Jordan Cox joins Zak Crawley, still two behind.

  19. International attack for Somersetpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 87-1 v Somerset 404

The sun is out and Lord's looks an absolute picture. Let's hope for the same in a couple of weeks when England play Ireland.

Matt Henry opens from the Nursery End. Now Craig Overton has the ball at the Pavilion End.

With Peter Siddle and Jack Leach to bowl later, it's an international class attack that Somerset captain Tom Abell has at his disposal.

  20. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 51-2

What do you do if you're Rob Keogh or Sam Whiteman?

They have negotiated the opening over from Mohammad Abbas, a maiden. Keith Barker steams in for the second over. One off it.

The visitors are 261 runs adrift. Can they realistically bat through five sessions? Do the five points for a draw even particularly matter? Is it all about professional pride in this second innings?
