Ollie Robinson takes on Zafar Gohar and takes 11 off his over with a four and six to move to 20 from eight balls. The run rate swells to above five.

Michael Jones cracks Josh Shaw away for back-to-back fours to move to 114 and take the lead to 368... you feel like a declaration might be coming before too long.

  2. 50 runs

for Gareth Roderickpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 177-4 - Target 271

He has been very patient but Gareth Roderick's 50 arrives from 185 balls with a flick to fine leg for two runs off Chris Wright.

The aggressive element of Worcestershire's batting has disappeared at the moment following the dismissal of Adam Hose - but they now need 94 more to secure victory.

    WICKET Roland-Jones b Overton 27published at 15:01 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 215-8 v Somerset 404

    Knocks him over!!

Toby Roland-Jones backs away to leg to give himself room for a big heave, but Craig Overton is too good.

That is full and smashes the leg stump out of the ground and ends the Middlesex captain's entertaining cameo.

Two wickets needed to wrap up an innings victory for Somerset.

No major problems for the Essex openers thus far - Nick Browne is 20 not out and Alastair Cook has 25.

The wicket is getting easier and easier - it's going to be a case of trying to induce a mistake or a false shot."

New ballpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 310-3

Not surprisingly given that Glamorgan's fourth wicket stand is now worth 187, Cheteshwar Pujara calls for the new ball.

To be honest, much of Sussex's bowling since lunch has been crying out for it!

Michael Jones chops Zafar Gohar away through point and reaches his first century of the season - and third of his career in red-ball cricket - from 127 balls faced.

It's his ninth boundary, to go with five sixes, and Durham are 337 in front with another 55 overs to go in the day's play.

  8. 200 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 205-7 v Somerset 404

An exuberant lofted drive from Toby Roland-Jones gets him four and brings up the 200 for his team.

He then gets four with another hoick through the legside.

Some entertaining lower order defiance from the Middlesex captain.

    Well batted Kiran Carlson!

He gets three down to deep square off Tom Haines to grab his third century of the summer after tons against Gloucestershire and Durham.

This effort has come off 127 balls and he has really motored along since lunch.

Given the match situation and being stand-in captain for this match, Carlson will be mightily pleased with this innings.

Derbyshire v Lancashire at EdgbastonImage source, PA Media

After Lancashire asked their hosts to bat in the opening game of the day at Edgbaston, Luke Wood struck with his first (legal) delivery to dismiss Haider Ali lbw for a golden duck.

The Falcons have recovered to reach 26-1 off three overs with Wayne Madsen hitting a six and two fours off Wood for his 17 from 12 balls.

The Lightning are of course without Jos Buttler, Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone who are at the IPL while Saqib Mahmood is ill.

    Notts 442 v Essex 298 & 42-0

Alastair Cook finds the extra cover boundary off Dane Paterson despite the best diving efforts of Stuart Broad on the boundary edge.

There's a let-off for the fomer England skipper as Calvin Harrison drops a difficult chance.

up for Glamorganpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 300-3

Kiran Carlson works one away for a single to bring up his side's 300.

Glamorgan trail by just 58 now and Carlson is only one blow away from a century.

  14. 150 runs

up for Durhampublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 158-2

Durham reach 150 as Michael Jones sweeps Zafar Gohar high over square leg for six.

The next ball is tickled down to fine leg for four, before Jones unleashes the sweep again for another boundary.

    He is 94 not out.

  15. champagne moment

HAMPSHIRE WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 135 RUNSpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Hampshire 367 v Northamptonshire 56 & 176

Liam Dawson finishes with 6-61 as last man Alex Russell edges Mason Crane to Joe Weatherley at slip to end the innings.

Saif Zaib is stranded on a season's best 57 not out from 86 balls.

Hampshire beat Northants by an innings and 270 runs at Wantage Road last month. It might be some while before these two sides next face off in the County Championship.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hose c Handscomb b Mulder 84published at 14:36 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Worcs 167-4 - target 271

Momentum shifts back towards Leicestershire at New Road as Adam Hose pushes forward and edges Wiaan Mulder to the keeper.

It was a fine innings - including a six and 14 fours - but Hose's 119 for Warwickshire against Notts remains his sole first-class century.

He put on 131 with Gareth Roderick, who is 46 not out, and has now been joined by Brett D'Oliveira.

  17. wicket

WICKET Hollman c Lammonby b Overton 28published at 14:33 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Middlesex 175 & 175-7 v Somerset 404

A classic dismissal for a tall bowler.

Craig Overton hits the deck hard and generates that bit of extra bounce for just short of a length.

It gets Luke Hollman fending at it and the ball disappears into the hands of Tom Lammonby low down at third slip.

Middlesex had batted hard since lunch, but Somerset are now three wickets from victory.

  18. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Gloucs 292 v Durham 445 & 139-2

Zafar Gohar gives one some air and David Bedingham lifts it back over the bowler's head and down the ground for four.

Durham now 292 in front - you wonder what kind of score Scott Borthwick has in mind before declaring, or whether he's thinking more about the time needed to bowl Gloucestershire out.

  19. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 291-3

Almost a half chance for Sussex.

Marnus Labuschagne gets what looks like an edge to a Jack Carson delivery but it flashes past Steve Smith at slip.

    That would have been something!

Probably no more than a half chance but Sussex are looking a bit ragged at the moment and would love a wicket.
