  1. wicket

WICKET Gubbins c Malan b De Caires 120published at 12:05 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Hampshire 330-5 v Middlesex

Nick Gubbins goes after 318 balls, reverse-sweeping the spinner but offering a sharp diving chance to Pieter Malan at backward point. Fine catch.

The parnership is broken at 236. A record for Hampshire against Middlesex. Josh De Caires has taken three straight wickets (admittedly across 23 hours).

James Fuller is the new man for Hampshire. He might have pad rash already, given how long he's been waiting to get in...

  2. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 186published at 12:03 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Somerset 163, Nottinghamshire 186

The morning couldn't have gone much better for Somerset who have bowled themselves right back into this match.

Dane Patterson takes a swing at Craig Overton (2-46) and top-edges to give wicketkeeper James Rew a routine catch.

The hosts looked right up against it when they were bowled out in the afternoon session on day one for 163 before Notts reached stumps at 145-4.

But superb bowling from Matt Henry (6-59) has helped restrict the visitors' lead to just 23.

Notts lost six wickets for 41 this morning and have the fewest batting bonus points in Division One this season - eight.

  3. 150 runs

partnership for Kentpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Northants 237 v Kent 172-1

Tawanda Muyeye and Daniel Bell-Drummond joined forces with Kent on 17-1 yesterday evening. It's now 172-1 and 22-year-old Muyeye is unbeaten on 85, four short of the best score of his fledgling, but hugely promising career.

Bell-Drummond has 79 at the other end. 65 runs behind, now.

  4. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Hampshire 328-4 v Middlesex

Nick Gubbins reverse-sweeps spinner Josh De Caires away to the ropes for four with the penultimate ball of the 110th over but his side finish 28 runs shy of another bonus point.

Liam Dawson hit his highest first-class score of 171 at Kent last April and shared 273 for the fifth wicket with Ben Brown.

Dawson has 134 here and he and Gubbins have added 234 here, so far.

  5. Maximum batting points for Essexpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Essex 450-8 v Warwickshire

Essex get to five batting bonus points with just two balls to spare of the 110-over cut-off mark.

Sam Cook pounces on a wide delivery from Jake Lintott and sends the ball back past the bowler to the boundary.

Will Essex look to declare or bat on and take as many runs as they can?

The pitch still looks a good one to bat on.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Moores c Kohler-Cadmore b Henry 10published at 11:52 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Somerset 163 v Nottinghamshire 177-9

A second wicket in the over for Matt Henry (6-53) and it's nearly all over for the Notts first innings.

Tom Moores edges to the slips where Tom Kohler-Cadmore takes a cracking catch.

Somerset have been magnificent in the field this morning.

  7. wicket

WICKET Carter b Henry 8published at 11:49 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Somerset 163 v Nottinghamshire 176-8

    Five wickets for Matt Henry!

The New Zealand international has been a superb signing for Somerset and has a third wicket of the morning to keep the hosts in this match.

He gets one to nip back and take the top of Matt Carter's middle stump.

  8. Nottinghamshire move into the leadpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Somerset 163 v Nottinghamshire 170-7

It's been hard work this morning but Notts finally have the lead with three first innings wickets in hand.

Tom Moores took 16 balls to get off the mark but does so in style, pulling Craig Overton to the boundary to overhaul Simerset;s 163.

Then next ball he hooks Overton to the shot boundary for six. Overton won't like that.

  9. 150 runs

up for Kentpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Northants 237 v Kent 150-1

Ben Sanderson narrowly misses the edge of Daniel Bell-Drummond's bat, and also with Luke Procter standing up, the stumps, to draw a collective intake of breath from the Wantage Road patrons.

Kent are within 87 runs of the Northants total and the partnership is up to 133 between Tawanda Muyeye (71*) and Bell Drummond (72*).

Leggy Alex Russell enters the attack and immediately gets some encouraging turn. Something to watch as the days wears on.

  10. wicket

    WICKET - Smith c Morley b Blatherwick 48published at 11:42 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Lancashire 274, Surrey 107-5

A sorry end for Jamie Smith, as he tries to pull Jack Blatherwick, but ends up hoisting a skier to deep square leg where Jack Morley takes a good diving catch.

Sam Curran comes in to join another of Surrey‘s England man Will Jacks, who is on 13.

  11. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Hampshire 314-4 v Middlesex

The fifth-wicket partnership is up to 220 and Nick Gubbins has, er, motored along to 111 from 291 balls with Liam Dawson 128 from 216 at the other end.

Only four overs left to add 36 for another batting bonus though, not sure they're interested...

  12. 100 runs

Solid start by Surrey at The Ovalpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Lancashire 274, Surrey 103-4

Eight overs gone today - and 33 runs added - as Jamie Smith and Will Jacks press on after the shock of losing Ben Foakes the evening before.

No early Kookaburra breakthough from the visitors, as they had hoped.

The Surrey pair are looking increasingly comfortable as the 100 comes up.

  13. wicket

WICKET Hutton b Henry 4published at 11:34 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Somerset 163 v Nottinghamshire 158-7

The wickets continue to tumble at Taunton and it's a beauty.

After 14 fell on day one, another three have gone down in the opening half-hour this morning as Somerset roar back into this match.

Having pulled Matt Henry for four, Brett Hutton then plays entirely the wrong line to his next ball and looks back to see his middle stump cartwheeling through the air.

Can there be a more aesthetically pleasing dismissal than that? Henry needs one more for a richly-deserved five-for.

Matt Carter joins Tom Moores at the crease and Notts still need six for the lead.

  14. Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Northants 237 v Kent 133-1

Daniel Bell-Drummond stumbles across his stumps with big appeals ringing in his ears after Ben Sanderson gets one to keep low and thump his pads, but that was always heading down leg, and the umpire agrees. As you were.

23 added in six overs at Wantage Road where it is markedly cooler this morning - to the extent that Daniel Bell-Drummond is wearing a jumper! Probably had to get it down from the attic after the last few weeks...

  15. wicket

WICKET Bracewell lbw b Rushworth 31published at 11:26 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Essex 419-8 v Warwickshire

    Chris Rushworth makes the breakthrough.

He pins Doug Bracewell bang in front as the ball hits the New Zealander's back pad.

Bracewell doesn't look happy but that's a useful 31 as Essex chase maximum batting points.

  16. wicket

WICKET Slater c Overton b Henry 70published at 11:25 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Somerset 163 v Nottinghamshire 152-6

    And another wicket at Taunton!

Ben Slater's long vigil is brought to an end as Matt Henry (3-44) finds his outside edge and it flies at a nice height to Craig Overton at second slip.

Slater and Steven Mullaney had put on 47 useful runs but now both are out and Somerset have a real sniff of getting back into this game.

Tom Moores and Brett Hutton are the new men at the crease and Notts still trail by 11 runs.

  17. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Northants 237 v Kent 131-1

Tawanda Muyeye was very much at the wheel for Kent in the final session last night but if these two were on a road trip it's Daniel Bell-Drummond who has taken over the driving this morning, facing more than twice as many balls and scoring more than double the runs of his pal, thus far.

21 added in the first five overs of the morning, the deficit is down to 106.

  18. wicket

WICKET Mullaney c Aldridge b Overton 29published at 11:21 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Somerset 163 v Nottinghamshire 152-5

Superb over gets its reward for Craig Overton.

The tall paceman fired a couple of short balls around the head of Steven Mullaney and also tempted the Notts skipper to twice play and miss.

And having set his man up, Overton takes the outside edge with the final ball and Kasey Aldridge takes a low catch at second slip.

  19. 300 runs

up for Hampshirepublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Hampshire 301-4 v Middlesex

Liam Dawson dances down the pitch to slap Josh De Caires over long-off for six to bring up another batting point. Nicely done. Will they push for another in the next eight overs? Going to take a of special cricket to force a result on this surface by the looks of it, so every point might be precious.

  20. 100 runs

for Nick Gubbinspublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 26 June 2023

    Hampshire 297-4 v Middlesex

There it is. Tom Helm is cut away and Nick Gubbins punches the air before the ball has even left the square on its way to the fence. He knew. His 15th career hundred and against his former side of course.

It took 277 balls, his slowest ever century, but he's over the line. Gubbins' 12th four also brings up the 200 partnership between himself and Liam Dawson, who is 120 not out.
