If Joe Root gets going and England are deciding just to bat today, with the firepower of Stokes, Bairstow and Brook, it could get pretty messy later on.
Here we go! Ollie Pope charges seamer Curtis Campher and drives him sensationally down the ground.
This next half an hour could be fun.
Ollie Pope has a 150 at Lord's. It's his highest Test score.
Is this the foot going hard on the accelerator?
Joe Root follows Pope's six with a flat skimmer of his own over mid-wicket.
"Roooooot," shouts the crowd.
On comes the spinner Andy McBrine and biffed down the ground by Ollie Pope!
It has gone high, very high, but just does clear the boundary rope.

Classic Joe Root, those kind of shots is what make him a great player. He had all the time in the world to let it come, time it well past point. the I'd rather him play that shot that than two reverse sweeps!
This is the second fastest a team has ever reached 400 in Tests, by the way. The fastest was just last year, by England in Rawalpindi.
Joe Root collects his first boundary - a far more conventional back-foot punch than the shots he was playing a little earlier.
Pope 141, Root 8
This is the shot we're talking about. Plenty of the people tweeting us think Root should stick to the more traditional strokes.
England's 400 is up.
Careful, Dan...

If the Roop is the Root Scoop what does that make the Pope Scoop?

Why has the off-spinner not bowled for more than 10 overs? He bowled really well before. I know England are strong against spin, but it could at least give the bowler some bit of rest.
Drinks are coming onto the field.
The TMS team are starting to wonder how long until England declare.

Brilliant shot!
Ollie Pope plays that extravagant scoop Root just tried but he gets it all the way down the boundary.
That's how you do it, Joseph.
Don't bowl there to a batter unbeaten on 129...
Ollie Pope helps himself to a ball well wide outside off stump.
Pope 129, Root 5
What's going on with this new ball? Ireland have caused more problems in the last 20 minutes than the entire rest of the innings.
Ollie Pope gets a leading edge to seamer Mark Adair but the ball loops up over his head and into an empty space behind the umpire.
Joe Root really does seem to love that shot.

I don't know Joe Root, you haven't batted for a while, just get bat on ball.
Root got out playing this shot in New Zealand but he's fine this time.
On we go.
This has hit Joe Root miles outside off stump.
He's going to be fine.
