England persisted with the short ball tactic for quite a while yesterday and we have seen that quite a lot from them.
Josh Tongue was given that role, which he probably isn't used to. It looks like the field today is set a little more orthodox.

The Test match went away from Ireland a long time ago. But this is still a great chance to enjoy some time out in the middle.
Stuart Broad, still searching for his first wicket of his innings, will open at the Nursery End.

Test matches like this do happen quite often. But should a result later this summer be by an innings or a thrashing of any kind, are the losers not worthy opposition? I’m sure if we thrash Australia in a Test, they won’t be seen as poor.

All of the focus now from Ireland will be on the white-ball game for the World Cup qualifiers.
I suppose it's a case of just muddling through in terms of red-ball cricket, whether the domestic competition will return in Ireland. But even then, it's about whether that would be a good enough standard.
Ireland opener James McCollum suffered a nasty-looking ankle injury last night and was forced to retire hurt on 12.
Cricket Ireland are still awaiting the results of a scan but he is unlikely to feature again in this match, effectively leaving Ireland 97-4.
"James underwent assessment and imaging last night at a nearby orthopaedic hospital. X-rays have revealed no fracture is present and we are awaiting on the reports from his MRI which is likely to show injury to his ligaments," read a Cricket Ireland statement.
"He is currently in an orthopaedic boot and crutches and it is unlikely that he will take any further part in the match."
