    Alex Thomson drives to long-off for a single off ball three and Dal pulls a full-ross for a long single from the next.

    Thomson digs out a yorker from the penultimate delivery for another one and Dal chops to backward point to keep the strike and move to 23.

    Doug Bracewell has Rob Jones caught at leg slip by Dan Lawrence for 111 and Essex secure their fourth win of the season with just 10 balls remaining in the game at Stanley Park.

    Lancashire, though, deserve plenty of plaudits for keeping up their chase of a target of 430 until the fall of the ninth wicket, with their score on 376.

    Jones hit two sixes and 12 fours in his 170-ball innings and Luke Wells (75), Josh Bohannon (68) also batted well.

    Bracewell finishes with figures of 3-46 and Essex close the gap on leaders Surrey, who drew with Notts earlier in the day.
