That is where the foot takes off from and if it is a bit spongey you lose momentum.
Broad is finally happy with the problem area, which is a yard or so behind the stumps, and they're ready to continue...

There is a little bit of movement in the pitch, a bit of occasional bounce, but England have just not been consistent in that area where you need to be.
Aus 101-1
Usman Khawaja reaches his half-century - his 23rd in Tests - as his brilliant Ashes series continues.
He was dropped on 19 and he's making England pay.
A juicy full toss from Stuart Broad allows him to reach the landmark with four thumped straight back down the ground.
Broad, meanwhile, is not happy with the run ups and the ground staff are out to try and resolve the problem.
England are still searching for another wicket but there have been no real scares for Australia since tea.
Usman Khawaja is settled in again and Marnus Labuschagne is getting here.
Lead by 188
Australia are effectively 188-1. This is the part where it all falls apart, right?

Justin Langer just came off his TMS chat to the biggest bear hug off his old mate Glenn McGrath. It was very cute.
Khawaja 46, Labuschagne 12
A thick inside edge from Usman Khawaja runs down to long leg, bringing him a single that moves him ever closer to a half-century.

Only joking. He's a great man. I love his passion for the game.

That's not kind. I knew you would say something nasty.

I just had take the booster seat off the seat after Justin Langer was sat here.
Lead by 180
Stuart Broad will start from the other end and his first ball is a touch too straight.
It's flicks off Usman Khawaja's pad and runs away for for leg byes.
I'm not convinced he was actually playing a shot but the umpire is satisfied he was so it is, indeed, four more to Australia's total.

The issue with England is that Bazball requires a competent bowling unit! Ollie Robinson bowling 80mph daublers, Jimmy Anderson on retirement watch and a lack of a decent spin bowler is not really a troubling factor for any team!
Matt - Manchester
Depends how you want to look at it...
Ollie Robinson averages 21 in Tests and Jimmy Anderson has nearly 700 Test wickets - and has looked better this innings after a slow start to the series.
Regardless, I'd say both are more than competent. I'll give you the spinner, Matt...
Jonny Bairstow is back up to the stumps for the last ball of the over as Marnus Labuschagne defends a delivery that stays a touch low.
Good recovery from Jimmy Anderson after that loosener to start.
Contrasting deliveries to start the session.
The first is a bit of a long hop from Jimmy Anderson that Marnus Labuachagne grateful puts away through the leg side.
But the second is a beauty, that rears up and forces Labuschagne to hastily drop his hands as it flies through to Jonny Bairstow.
Everyone is in position. Jimmy Anderson will bowl the first over after tea with Marnus Labuschagne on strike.

The ultimate aim of any contest is to win. The game is about working out ways of success to win or lose, that is what it is. Most times you win, you entertain.
The players are making their way back out, getting a generous applause as they walk through the Long Room.
Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne look very relaxed. Why wouldn't they be given the position Australia are in?

Australia effectively 172/1 at tea. England were 188/1 and managed to be 325. If we can do it so can Australia. Or am I dreaming?
Mike, Corfe Mullen
England need to find a way of squeezing Mark Wood into this attack if he's fit. That extra bit of pace is desperately needed.
Alex
2-0...That's the Ashes gone...down to inept fielding and brainless batting...sounds familiar.
