96.5mph from Mark Wood!
A comfortable leave for Marnus Labuschagne though.
95mph again from Mark Wood.
It's a perfect, short ball into the chest and armpit region of Marnus Labuschagne.
The Australia number three plays it pretty well though, down into the gully region.
A maiden from Ollie Robinson.
A gentle round of applause from the Headingley crowd. It has definitely got a bit quieter after the vociferous start.

Mark Wood frighteningly quick. Already looks like he could make a huge difference!

Mark Wood has most of the fastest recorded spells recorded by England and Jofra Archer is up there too from the 2019 series.

That's up there with some of the best first overs I've seen. Quick bowling is always great to watch.
Mark Wood strays down the leg side and it clips Marnus Labuschagne's pad and races away for four.
A bit of extra bounce is well pushed down by Labuschagne to end the over.
Mark Wood's speeds in that over?
91, 93, 95, 95, 94, 93.
Erm.
Mark Wood's third ball is 95mph.
Woweeeee.

The outswing to Marnus Labuschagne is what has done him a few times before in this series, what will Wood do?
Just the 93mph for Mark Wood's second ball.
Love. It.
Interesting.
Three overs and Stuart Broad is off.
Mark Wood - and his extreme pace - is on.

I would have liked to be a captain that lost the toss this morning, I wouldn't have wanted to make the decision about what to do.
The outfield is rock hard so really fast, I think we'll be seeing quick scoring rates all throughout these five days.
Conditions today are better to bat on than the first day of Lord's too.
Shouts for an lbw from Ollie Robinson and England as the quick hits Usman Khawaja on the pads.
Too high? Probably. Pitching outside leg? Maybe.
Better from Robinson, though.
There is more pace in this pitch but it looks like a cracking batting deck too...
No antics from Jonny or England yet, Leon.

The Headingley outfield is like a motorway.

Only following on text, has Jonny tried a long-range stumping yet, please say yes?
Leon, Kent
This feels like a day where Australia could easily rack up 350+ but England could take quite a lot of wickets with the bounce and pace in the pitch.
Don't go anywhere, it could be a great day of cricket. Again.
Stuart Broad is straying a little too straight and Marnus Labuschagne is twice able to clip him through mid-wicket.

This is like an Aussie pitch. What happened to the old tranquilised ones we saw previously?
Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Not as much sideways movement on the pitch, there's bounce, pace and carry for the bowlers though so it should be interesting.
