Stuart Broad has just been given the first of many rounds of applause as he emerged down the dressing room steps. He stopped and signed countless autographs and posed for selfies.
There was a lovely moment when Steve Smith passed him on the steps and stopped to shake his hand.
Someone else shouted “go get a hundred, Broady”.

Very emotional with Broad's retirement. He gave me 8-15 on my birthday. Amazing present never to be forgotten
Mandy. Berkshire.
I'm gutted. Broady is one of my favourite cricketers and sportsmen for his almost ridiculous desire to win. I thought he’d keep going as a couple more years and he could have overtaken Jimmy (or at least got very close). This series has shown he’s probably our most reliable bowler and pretty much irreplaceable.
Jon, Huddersfield
Always loved Jimmy, Freddie, Stokesy but something about Broad's competitiveness set him above. From when he was young and I was listening with my old boss Fred, he was our favourite. Thank you Stuart.
Martin in glos.
Stuart Broad has emerged, complete with bucket hat, bat and gloves.
A sign England are not planning a declaration?
Broady's farewell. Jimmy's 41st birthday, Stokes bowling off-spin and seam.
This is set to be a special day for so many reasons.

Stuart Broad is either having a lie in or is just intentionally keeping everyone waiting. His England team-mates are warming up but he’s still nowhere to be see this morning.
Interestingly, Ben Stokes is bowling seam this morning, rather than just off-spin. A suggestion he’ll bowl if needed?
Here are some notable stats from analysts CricViz going into day four:

Did you eat your Stuart Board Bandana already, Matt?
Rob N, Surrey
Unsure what this is about? Click here.
If Stuart Broad gets David Warner early you will probably hear the roar of the crowd up here in Salford.

Is it too much to ask for the fairytale? Just one more of *those* spells from the 37-year old English medium pace bowler? Starting with you-know-who? Who's cutting onions in here?

Watched Broady steamroll the Aussies from a bar in Ibiza in 2015…9.3-5-15-8, Australia all out for 60 in 18 overs…magic…pace, personality and nous...he will leave a big hole not just on pitch but I expect in the dressing room. Thanks SCJB for years of joy you will be missed !!!

Not wearing one yourself, Matthew?

I’ve already seen two England fans walking into The Oval with Stuart Broad bandanas on.
Today is going to be special, isn’t it?
A reminder of today's Daily ZaltzQuiz:
England finish the series with six players having scored 300 runs or more – a unique achievement for England in any Ashes series, and for either side in a five-Test Ashes series in England (Australia had six 300-plus-runs players in the six-Test series in both 1989 and 1993).
Without scurrying off to Statsguru to check, can you guess (to one decimal place) the average number of England players per series who have reached the 300-run mark in the previous 38 series, since 1950?
We will bring you the answer at 10:30 BST.

2.7 for Zaltzquiz
Richard in Mykonos
1.4 is probably around there, I feel like we'd often only have one high scoring batsman so feels about right.
Alan, Daventry
Gotta be just under 2 I'm guessing so 1.9 average
Alex (Cheltenham)
Plenty of your Stuart Broad memories are flooding in.
One of the most popular is his famous play and miss at Trent Bridge in 2013.
Can't think why...

Casper, Aged 7, has sent a message and picture for Stuart:
'Dear Stuart Broad
I have heard that you are to retire. Please do not retire as you are my favourite cricket player in the whole world!'
We hear you Casper and we agree too
For those of you who are you and about today, you can keep up to date through the day with notifications on the BBC Sport app.
When you get a moment to check, you'll see the latest wicket to fall right on your lock screen.
Find us in your phone's app store, or if you have the app installed head to the notifications section on the menu.
There is also lots of focus on today's weather given what happened at Old Trafford.
The good news is it is currently dry and we should be able to start on time. The bad news is that showers are forecast this afternoon.
We should still see plenty of play though. A more detailed forecast from a member of the BBC Weather team will follow when Test Match Special goes live at 10:30 BST.

Another Jaffa from Zaltz……I think this will be low, even in the home victories in 05/09, it was often our bowling that did for the Aussies so let’s say 1.4 players per series.
Danny, Bath
2.3
Stewart from Newcastle
3.4 for the Zaltzquiz

And while we are on the subject of James Anderson, the Burnley express turns 41 today.
Many happy returns, Jimmy!
Incidently, Anderson said earlier this week that he has no plans to follow his team-mate Stuart Broad into retirement just yet.
