  1. Aus 38-0published at 10 overs

    Target 384

Ben Stokes turns to his spinner Moeen Ali early.

He strays down the leg side and is clipped for four before a full toss almost brings him a wicket.

David Warner goes for a horrible swipe, trying to hit it into the stands, but it plugs just between mid-on and mid-wicket.

A pretty sloppy start from Moeen, who may still be struggling a bit with his groin injury.

Earlier, we had three maidens in a row which takes England's maiden count with the ball to 160 for the series.

Australia finished with 34, absolutely obliterating the record for fewest maidens bowled in a Test series.

In terms of a five-match series with six ball overs, the previous record was 74 in 1924 with South Africa touring England.

In Ashes cricket the fewest maidens ever bowled, in any Ashes series, before Australia's 34, was 56. That was during the 1886/87 series.

  3. Aus 32-0published at 9 overs

Short, pulled but well-saved by Harry Brook at square leg as Khawaja takes the single.

He's moved to 19 from 28 balls, which is a very refreshing change from his block-a-thon during the first innings.

  5. Aus 31-0published at 8 overs

    Target 384

An expensive over from Anderson, who is driven through the covers again by Khawaja but pins Warner on the pad from the last ball.

There's an optimistic appeal but it's going down leg.

Australia have showed more intent with shimming down the pitch. They must have spoken about this because in the first innings they didn't do anything.

  7. Aus 24-0published at 7.1 overs

Not to be overshadowed, Khawaja repeats the shot off Anderson from the start of the next over.

And as is always the case after being hit for a couple of boundaries, England ask for the ball to be looked at.

And as is always the case, it fits through the circular thing easily, and we carry on.

  9. Aus 20-0published at 7 overs

    Shot.

David Warner releases the pressure, after facing five dot balls, with a lovely straight drive down the ground for four.

  11. Aus 16-0published at 6.1 overs

Stuart Broad's first spell is over.

He is replaced by Chris Woakes, who has David Warner playing and missing at his first ball.

I think England will be happy with this, they're getting dot balls again and are starting to build pressure.

  13. Aus 16-0published at 6 overs

    Target 384

    Oh, a beauty.

Anderson nips one past Khawaja's outside edge with the last ball of the over and puts a hand to his head in disbelief - a sight we've seen quite a bit this series.

The runs have stopped flowing for Australia - can England make it count with a breakthrough?

Warner is doing his best to be busy but there's just something not quite right.

  16. Aus 16-0published at 5 overs

    Target 384

    A maiden!

Broad has settled into his spell nicely, testing Warner's patience.

It doesn't quite feel real that this is the last time we'll see Broad and Anderson bowling together. It will probably only sink in during England's next Test match.

  17. Aus 16-0published at 4.4 overs

    Almost!

Warner edges... but it drops short of Ben Duckett at third slip. He does well to save a boundary, because that was flying.

The pitch looks a beauty, the spinners have plenty there but for the seamers there isn't a great deal.

  20. Aus 16-0published at 4 overs

    Target 384

After all the emotion and drama of the morning, it's now just settled down to a steady tempo, with a hum around The Oval rather than the constant applause.

Australia take just one from Anderson's latest over but they're both looking pretty comfortable. If ever there was a time for one of those Broad spells...
