    Kent 169-1 v Notts

Kent are moving through the gears nicely this afternoon with a boundary apiece for Bell-Drummond and Crawley in the 46th over.

Bell-Drummond whips Calvin Harrison through mid-wicket for the first four - and Zak Crawley paddle sweeps the leggie for four more.

  2. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

Here's the state of play at Cardiff, Bristol and Hove...

After a delayed start due to rain, Yorkshire have had the better of the contest against Glamorgan.

Opener Adam Lyth has just fallen for 49, bowled by Jamie McIlroy, but the White Rose remain in a strong position on 99-1 in the 26th over.

Derbyshire have fought back after a solid start from the Gloucestershire openers at Bristol.

Luis Reece had Ben Charlesworth and Chris Dent caught behind off successive overs to leave the hosts on 85-2.

The score now is 113-2 with James Bracey and Ollie Price at the crease.

Sussex are struggling against Leicestershire at Hove where the hosts are now 179-6.

James Coles was the last to depart, caught by Colin Ackermann off the bowling of Scott Currie for 44. Currie has 2-43.

    Kent 159-1 v Notts

This has been an innings almost completely dominated by Zak Crawley, who has nearly two-thirds of the innings runs to his name.

A few loose shots from the Kent and England opener - but some superb strokes too.

Bell-Drummond looks settled at the other end, unbeaten on 34.

We'll get back underway in a minute or two.

    Northants 90-2 v Warwickshire

The hover cover has hovered on again. And the players have hot-footed it off again, with Emilio Gay on 46.

This is starting to turn into one of those days.

    All this on-off nonsense.

One game starting here, another restarting there. All enough to cause our Birrningham corresondent to miss his lunch. And he is not happy!

    Kent 157-1 v Notts

James is bowling wide of the sticks and Bell-Drummond leaves.

He's getting a bit of shape in the air but not much off the pitch now.

Just the one run from the over - a leg bye.

  6. 100 runs

100 for Zak Crawleypublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Kent 153-1 v Notts

Crawley carefully follows the ball outside off stump, tapping it away to cover for one - and that's a run-a-ball hundred.

His third in all first class cricket this summer - and his second for Kent this season.

His other centuries came against Northants on this ground in the first Championship round - and gloriously against Australia at Old Trafford.

15 fours and a six - and a big first innings total is very much on the cards with this chap at the crease.

    Kent 152-1 v Notts

Bell-Drummond is moving up a gear here as he guides Paterson away behind point for four more runs.

That's the innings 150 in the 41st over...and we're going to have a change of ball.

A single off the fifth ball brings Crawley on strike - on 98 not out.

99 now as Crawley turns the last ball of the over into the on side.

The big cover has hovered off - and play resumes after lunch 50 minutes late in Birmingham.

WICKET Higgins b Williams 41published at 13:56 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Middlesex 83-6 v Lancs

A poor shot by Ryan Higgins. Having tried unsuccessfuly to slash though point the ball before to no avail the previous ball, he goes for another yahoo and is bowled by Willi Williams.

New man in is Josh de Caires, the son of former Lancashire (and England) skipper, Michael Atherton.

Bell-Drummond drives Mullaney into the off side for one to keep the strike.

    Middlesex 80-5 v Lancashire

The Middlesex revival seems well underway now at Old Trafford.

Sam Robson (29) and Ryan Higgins (40) have settled back in again after lunch - and the morning carnage seems to have been forgotten.

  13. Lyth and Bean looking comfortablepublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Yorkshire 86-0 v Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Sport Wales

Shan Masood’s decision to bat first looked questionable at 10.00 under threatening skies, which eventually caused a delay until ten past 12.

But it looked a lot better after Adam Lyth and Finlay Bean had comfortably built their scores in an 80-minute session.

On the wicket from Friday’s ODI, the only real alarm was a strong leg-before shout from James Harris against Bean, while teenage spinner Ben Kellaway was given an early spell on a placid pitch.

Yorkshire are giving a Championship debut to young seamer Ben Cliff as they chase a second straight win.

  14. Postpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Kent 118-1 v Notts

Mullaney is bowling a very full length to Bell-Drummond, who is solidly forward to defend.

A couple of alarms for Kent after lunch as both these batters were close to being caught behind the wicket, but the hosts still have nine in hand.

  15. wicket

WICKET Carter c Ackermann b Currie 16published at 13:37 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

  16. Lunch in Cardiffpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Yorkshire 86-0 (22 overs) v Glamorgan

After a delayed start 40 minutes late in Cardiff, Yorkshire have made up for lost time.

In just 22 overs before lunch, Adam Lyth (45) and Fin Bean (37) have rattled along at almost four runs an over.

  17. Postpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Middx 70-5 v Lancs

Robson pushes and misses Bailey outside off stump but survives the over.

Will Williams will come in from the Anderson End to bowl to Higgins.

Higgins ducks under a bouncer - and then cuts the third ball through point for four runs. Solid start for the all-rounder this afternoon.

An appeal for LBW off the fourth ball is turned down as the ball seams past leg stump.

  18. Postpublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Kent 114-1 v Notts

Bell-Drummond picks up four more, guiding the ball off a thick edge in front of point off Mullaney.

A frustrating chance for Notts, who have already found two false strokes since the break without a breakthrough.

  19. Afternoon session begins at Old Traffordpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Lancs v Middx 65-5

A horror start for the visitors who need to take bonus points to stay ahead of Kent at the bottom end of the table.

The current score does in fact reflect a mini-recovery from 19-5 when a succession of batters were undone by the moving ball on a green-tinged surface.

Sam Robson has dug in and resumes unbeaten with 25 to his name.

Ryan Higgins, who has consistently scored runs this summer, is on 30 off 32 balls.

Tom Bailey will bowl to Robson.

  20. Postpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

    Kent 109-1 v Notts

It's been a tough shift for the Notts attack but they are still getting some errors out of the Kent batters.

Bell-Drummond is looking more settled now and clips Fernando off his pads for two.

He sees out the over defending into the off side.
