Luis Reece reverse sweeps Zafar Gohar through backward point for four runs.

    WICKET Mullaney c Bell-Drummond b Nijjar 86published at 16:11 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 169-4

Kent have another. Aron Nijjar has another.

Steven Mullaney has taken a big swing and top-edged behind to the sprinting Daniel Bell-Drummond at backward point.

Joe Clarke and Mullaney have gone in short order and, from a Notts perspectively, completely avoidably. Mullaney had built his season's-best knock off punishing balls in the wrong place.

Nijjar is clearly causing some frustration to build.

Tom Moores is the new man in.

  4. Postpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 377 v Derbys 150-1

Four more runs to Brooke Guest, who gets a thick edge off Luke Charlesworth and squirts the ball away wide of slip and down to third man.

Luis Reece strokes four off the same bowler through extra cover.

Reece deflects Charlesworth in front of square on the on side to take the score to 150 in 42.5 overs.

  5. Tea in Cardiffpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 53-2

They go to tea at Sophia Gardens with Glamorgan having made a hesitant start in pursuit of Yorkshire's daunting first-innings total of 500.

Two wickets have gone down - and there could have been others. But Eddie Byrom (28) and Sam Northeast (9) have survived until the interval.

    Back for more in 20 minutes . . .

    Sorry, folks.

  7. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 164-3

  8. Bad light on the way?published at 16:04 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs 125-3 v Middx 194

A pause in play as the umpires are brandishing the light meters...

    We're going to carry on.

A near run out as Luke Wells hits Bamber to square leg and runs.

Superb pick up and throw to the bowler by Josh de Caires, Ethan Bamber takes the ball and throws it between his legs, just missing the timbers.

    More light meter readings now...

  9. Postpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs 124-3 v Middx

Things are starting to happen for the Middlesex spinners, who have some real grip and turn on this Old Trafford surface.

Josh de Caires bowls full just outside off and Dane Vilas drives through mid off for four.

  10. Postpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 160-3

Matt Montgomery is on strike for the final ball of the wicket-interrupted Aron Nijjar over.

The new man made 92* on this ground in the ODC less than four weeks ago. He's only had one knock inbetween. Can he repeat the feat here with Steven Mullaney set at the other end?

  11. Postpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 377 v Derbys 138-1

Brooke Guest is off the mark second ball with a leg glance that just evades a diving James Bracey behind the stumps for four runs.

WICKET Came lbw b L Charlesworth 68published at 15:53 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

Brooke Guest is batting at three for the visitors.

  13. Play resumes at Bristolpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 377 v Derbys 128-0

Derbyshire begin the evening session in a strong position and Gloucestershire cannot afford and more reprieves for Harry Came, who could've been out three times in this innings.

Harry Came faces Luke Charlesworth unbeaten on 64.

He's joined by his opening partner Luis Reece, who has 58.

  14. Postpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs 119-3 v Middx 194

The first ball from Josh de Caires is a bit loose and hammered through cover for four by Dane Vilas.

No more runs come from an otherwise tidy over.

Ethan Bamber will bowl to Luke Wells next.

  15. Play resumes at Old Traffordpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs 114-3 v Middx 194

Lancashire are only 80 adrift but Middlesex have a bit of momentum after three wickets in quick succession just before the break.

Dane Vilas has 11 runs and will face Josh de Caires, who took two of those three wickets, Keaton Jennings and Phil Salt.

Luke Wells is unbeaten on 59 at the other end.

  16. 'Sussex won't have a better chance to win'published at 15:47 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Sussex 262 & 123-2 v Leicestershire 108

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good session for Sussex, who added 116 against an increasingly weary looking Leicestershire attack

Tom Clark, who has been short of runs this season, is battling away, having taken 125 balls for his 51, but Sussex, who haven’t won since the opening round of County Championship games, won't have a better opportunity to return to winning ways.

They will be hoping that the decision to not enforce the follow-on doesn’t return to haunt them, with some rain forecast over the next couple of days.

  18. Tea at Canterburypublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 160-3

Notts were 145-1 in this session. Dominant stuff. Until that final ball...

Steven Mullaney has settled in nicely for his 78, featuring 10 fours and two sixes, cashing in on the bad balls, but the loss of Clarke after a stand of 131 has given Kent a timely lift, and a bowling bonus point.

Fascinatingly poised final session with Notts still 286 in arrears.

  19. Batting not easy in Manchesterpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Middlesex 194, Lancashire 114-3

    Scott Read
BBC Radio Lancashire at Old Trafford

A brilliant session of cricket, which started beautifully with the bat for Lancashire and ended with the Middlesex spinners on top and causing problems.

Josh de Caires' first ball at Emirates Old Trafford produced a wicket and he then trapped skipper Keaton Jennings lbw to spark a run of wickets to bring Middlesex back into the game.

It is superbly balanced heading into the evening session, where a first-innings lead for either side could prove crucial.

On the evidence of the first two days, batting last won't be easy.

  20. wicket

WICKET Clarke c Leaning b Nijjar 62published at 15:36 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 160-2

That is a huge wicket to fall, two balls before tea. Aron Nijjar has a maiden Kent wicket.

Joe Clarke tries an aggressive drive off the left-arm spinner but Jack Leaning is able to take a leaping catch at a widish mid-off.

An early tea will be taken.
