  1. Bears await the new ballpublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Northants 200-5 v Warwickshire

Seven overs until the new ball for Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

But the Bears are not counting their chickens.

Fast bowler Oliver Hannon-Dalby, who led the way with 3-29 on day one, gave Northants half-centurions Emilo Gay and Karun Nair a lot of creidt.

"There was a period when Gay and Nair batted really well and kept us out," he told BBC CWR. But weren't a million miles away, maybe just a smidge off it in the first two sessions. But we got our rewards in the last session on what is a really good cricket wicket.

"Craig Miles didn't get a wicket but bowled a brilliant spell to try to make things happen. I benefited from that in my role which is to dry up the runs as much as I possibly can and try to hit a few people in the shins. If you are patient, you can get value for your shots but, as a bowler, if you bang it in the right area enough times. there are wickets to be had.

  2. Division Two round-uppublished at 10:26 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

Rishi Patel and Colin Ackermann will resume this morning seeking to close a 194-run deficit with eight wickets in hand as Leicestershire seek maximum points to boost their promotion chances against Sussex at Hove.

Earlier Matt Salisbury's 5-72 helped oust the hosts for 262.

Glamorgan's already slim chances of nabbing a top-two spot were further hit by a day of toil as visiting Yorkshire amassed 330-3 on day one.

Shan Masood's fine unbeaten 113 caused most of the torment, though Fin Bean fell three shy of a century. George Hill resumes on 51.

In the race to avoid the wooden spoon, Ollie Price's superb 125 not out helped Gloucestershire to 333-6 at stumps against Derbyshire at Bristol.

Graeme van Buuren earlier fell for 78 after sharing 157 with Price for the fifth wicket.

  3. Middlesex need a stand after top order collapsepublished at 10:24 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs v Middx 132-8

Middlesex began this round eighth in the table and struggled on day one at Old Trafford.

They are now in danger of losing ground to Kent and Northants in their quest to stay in Division One, after both of their rivals fared better with the bat on Sunday.

Kent began this round only six points behind Middlesex and are already guaranteed at least three batting points in this round, while 10th-placed Northants are just 50 runs short of a first bonus point with five wickets in hand.

They still have hope with Sam Robson at the crease - the one Middlesex player to score a first-class century for the club this season.

He resumes unbeaten on 56 after a rain shortened day one.

Toby Roland-Jones will join him on two not out. He has a first class average of 21 in over 100 first-class matches - and Middlesex will need every bit of his skill and experience this morning.

  4. Kent on the hunt for bonus pointspublished at 10:22 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

Kent 387-4 v Nottinghamshire (play due to resume at 10:30 BST)

Kent will resume this morning on a cooler and greyer second morning with 14 overs remaining in their quest for potentially priceless batting bonus points.

They came into this round of fixtures in the relegation zone but trailing Middlesex by only six points.

That gap has already been halved thanks to Zak Crawley's fine 158 and 60 from Daniel Bell-Drummond.

Jack Leaning and Harry Finch are 13 runs shy of a fourth bonus point, with 63 runs required from those 14 overs if they are to reach 450 inside 110 overs for a maximum haul.

  5. Weather outlookpublished at 10:20 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

A bit of a north-south divide, with sunny and dry conditions in the south east with overcast conditions and a chance of rain in the north-west.

Good news for Kent fans and Sussex fans. But, if you're turning out fo watch Lancashire and Middlesex at Old Trafford, you may want to pack a brolly.

Overcast in the west, with a very small chance of rain in Bristol and a much higher chance of rain in Birmingham from around four o'clock.
