Record seventh wicket stand for Leicestershire against anyone in List A cricket now.

When might this pair take a chance to up the ante?

    Leics 201-6

Liam Dawson with his final over.

Harry Swindells twice down the pitch, the first time for a scrambled two wide of deep midwicket.

Sam Evans then goes back to punch a single to deep cover to raise the 200.

0-47 for Dawson. None of the destruction of the semi-final, where he took 7-15, but another solid afternoon from a very solid cricketer.

  4. Leics 195-6published at 42 overs

Ian Holland is back for Hampshire with three available.

Two dots before Sam Evans takes a single to long-on.

Then Harry Swindells dabs towards the same fielder and they charge back for two. Good running.

A short-arm pull backward of square brings two more.

Runs flowing - and they need to here for Leicestershire.

They have got to bat for another five overs and then kick on and push that total right up.

They're two wonderful picks to bring into the team. They have done themselves full justice and let's hope they go on.

    Leics 189-6

    Penultimate over of Liam Dawson.

Two singles and a dot but then a drag down and Sam Evans goes back to pull hard wide of long-on for four.

A dab to cover for a sharp single and an overthrow at the non-striker's end raises the hundred stand.

  7. Leics 181-6published at 40 overs

Harry Swindells misses out with a pull straight to the leg side 45.

He then cuts inside deep cover for two and skips down to work two more past mid-on.

10 to go, Leicestershire need at least 250 you'd think.

    Lovely half-century for Harry Swindells.

Into the side first game we're seeing him and this is really excellent.

He's shown some character, some composure, but most importantly a real high level of skill with bat in hand.

  9. Leics 176-6published at 39 overs

It was Liam Dawson back to replace Scott Currie after a two-over blast.

He was also squeezed to the fine leg boundary.

Another decent over for Leicestershire. Seven from.

From a distance, the effect of the Foxes' green sleeves offset against the red of the main body of their shirts makes them look like they're wearing football training bibs.

But this is no training exercise now. And the Foxes' lower order have already proved many times this summer that they bat down.

No better illustration of that than the reaguard action which so nearly pulled off a magnificent County Championship win against Sussex at Hove on Wednesday.

And it has all gone rather quiet here as Sam Evans and Harry Swindells - the two players who came in from their winning semi-final line-up - continue their rescue act to within a point of having as total which they can seriously defend.

  11. 50 runs

for Harry Swindellspublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 16 September 2023

    Leics 172-6

A battling knock and just what Leicestershire desperately needed.

    58 balls and four boundaries.

Swindells' first fifty of the summer.

  12. Leics 169-6published at 38 overs

It was just one over of Tom Prest and now back to Mason Crane's leggers.

Doesn't quite land one and is worked around for two singles and a paddled two.

Harry Swindells then drives to deep cover and loses his bat to midwicket!

Record seventh wicket stand now for Leicestershire against Hampshire.

  13. Leics 163-6published at 37 overs

A very rare bad ball from Scott Currie to open up the 37th over.

Low full toss and Harry Swindells drives nicely past mid-off for four.

But Currie is then back on a good length to first go past the outside edge - and then to find it but a flashing one for four to third man with no slip in place.

Swindells then punches and goes to mid-on and had Liam Dawson thrown down the non-striker's stumps, Swindells was short.

  14. 150 runs

up for Leicestershirepublished at 36 overs

    Leics 152-6

Tom Prest, mullet n'all, for the first time today.

Off-spin from round the wicket at the pavilion end.

Slides one past Harry Swindells' outside edge before he works a single to deep cover to bring the Foxes 150 up.

    Five from Prest's first.

  15. 'Leicestershire are well placed'published at 13:17 British Summer Time 16 September 2023

    Leics 147-6 v Hants

    Niall O'Brien
Former Ireland wicketkeeper on BBC Radio Leicestershire

He has bowled poorly Mason Crane. Seven overs and he's going for not shy of six-and-a-half an over on a used surface.

He hasn't quite delivered so he's given Leicestershire an opportunity to claw themselves back into the match.

    Leicestershire are well placed.

  16. Leics 147-6published at 35 overs

Scott Currie again at the Radcliffe Road End.

Just singles again and then a bit of bounce final ball goes flying past Harry Swindell's outside edge.

Sam Evans done by some turn away first ball.

Then he cuts to deep cover to raise the fifty stand with Harry Swindells.

At long last, Leicestershire have a stand of note but need to do much more to get the Foxes back in the game.

A wide isn't taken by Ben Brown and they get back for two more.

Better over for the batting side, who won the toss earlier remember before slumping to 19-4.

  18. Leics 138-6published at 33 overs

Scott Currie returns after 2-26 from his first five overs.

An excellent return, just two singles and almost gets Sam Evans to chop on final delivery.

  19. 'Pitch might break up'published at 13:06 British Summer Time 16 September 2023

    Leics 137-6 v Hants

    Sean Ervine
Former Hampshire all-rounder on BBC Radio Solent

When we rocked up to the ground the pitch looked dry and it's got that dry grass look.

With the seamers bowling there's a lot of footmarks, so it does look like it is going to break up which might be difficult for Hampshire when they bat next.

  20. Leics 136-6published at 32 overs

    Aha a little intent.

Harry Swindells gets down to sweep and times it nicely to find the Fox Road stand boundary at deep square.

Then a drive towards the short extra-cover boundary but Joe Weatherley does very well to slide and save four.
