up for Leicestershirepublished at 15 overs

A Louis Kimber single brings up the Foxes fifty at the end of the 15th over.

Dawson took a club record 7-15 in Hants' semi-final demolition of Warwickshire and gets off to a steady start. His first over goes for five.

The ball’s lost its hardness, there’s less movement and it should get easier. But there’s quite a few footmarks so spin could play a part.

The sun has sneaked though the clouds in Nottingham - and suddenly batting looks a little easier.

12 runs off that Keith Barker over and, although he took those three early wickets in his first four overs, the Foxes have now plundered 31 off him.

This is a lot more encouraging from those East Midlanders who have made the short hop up the M1.

  4. Leics 45-4published at 14 overs

Lewis Hill and Louis Kimber playing with a little more confidence now.

Hill takes a two and a single off Ian Holland and Kimber also adds a single.

Now it's time for a bowling change and a first look at the spin of Liam Dawson.

  5. Leics 41-4published at 13 overs

Keith Barker into a seventh over and Louis Kimber plays a superb straight drive back past the Hants paceman all along the floor for a sweet boundary.

Lewis Hill then takes advantage of rare width and square cuts Barker for a second four of the over.

A great over for Leics goes for 12 - Barker could now take a very well-earned rest.

  6. Leics 29-4published at 12 overs

It's taken 12 overs, but a Leicestershire batter is finally into double figures.

Lewis Hill (11) takes a wild hack off Ian Holland which misses his leg stump and goes for a fortunate two.

The Hampshire opening bowlers have been superb.

  7. Leics 26-4published at 11 overs

    Almost another!

Lewis Hill clips a legside delivery from Keith Barker, but Ben Brown gets a glove to it on its way to the boundary.

Leics need all the luck they can get - Hants are all over them.

  8. Leics 22-4published at 10 overs

It's safe to say Louis Kimber would not have been expecting to come to the crease during the powerplay.

A nudged single off Ian Holland gets the number six off the mark, then ironic cheers from Foxes fans as Lewis Hill 'milks' Holland for another.

It's a relatively expensive over from the miserly bowler - and brings to an end a miserable powerplay for those spectators from the East Midlands.

  9. Trent Bridge filling up but Foxes running on emptypublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 16 September 2023

    Leicestershire 20-4 v Hampshire

There weren't that many in the ground here in Nottingham half an hour before the start, suggesting there might not be much of a turn-out.

That would be a shame, given how good gates have been around the counties throughout this competition.

But it's starting to fill up a bit now.

If there are any locals thinking of coming, they'd better get here soon though!

The Foxes' hopes are emptying fast here.

At this rate, it will be all over by lunchtime! Which would be a real shame, having studied the menu earlier.

  10. Leics 20-4published at 9 overs

Keith Barker rolls in for his fifth over of the morning and it's another testing six balls.

Lewis Hill plays out a maiden as Leics look to consolidate and try to build some kind of platform.

  11. Leics 20-4published at 8 overs

Hindsight is a convenient tool, but perhaps Leics will be regretting their decision to take first knock.

Ian Holland continues to find late movement and pin down the batters. Just the one single for Lewis Hill.

His four overs have gone for as many runs.

    Oh dear, another one goes.

Keith Barker (3-16) gets one to shape in and strikes Wiaan Mulder on the back pad in front.

The South African all-rounder reviews it, but it's more out of hope than expectation. It's going on to hit middle stump. A five-ball duck.

What must skipper Lewis Hill be thinking at the other end - he's faced just five balls.

That is a huge blow. Goodness me, Leicestershire are in trouble now.

  14. wicket

    Ackermann c Middleton b Holland 6 (Leics 16-3 v Hampshire)

Leics in all kinds of trouble here.

Ian Holland gets the key wicket of Colin Ackermann and it's a great catch.

Holland's delivery sticks in the pitch a little and Ackermann is through the shot too early, chipping the ball to Fletcha Middleton who dives forward to take a brilliant low catch.

    Wiaan Mulder new man in.

The first bad ball that Keith Barker has sent down this morning. Finally Leicestershire can take advantage.

  16. Leics 15-2published at 5 overs

Leics are struggling to put bat on ball here as left-armer Keith Barker continues to get a bit of nibble off a dry Trent Bridge pitch.

Colin Ackermann finally middles one through the covers for four - could that be the settler?

  17. Leics 11-2published at 4 overs

Leicestershire's lynchpin Colin Ackermann is in early.

After more tricky moments, he gets the final ball away for a single to deny Ian Holland a second straight maiden.

The ball is beating the bat regularly under cloudy skies at Trent Bridge.

    Budinger c Weatherley b Barker 7 (Leics 9-2 v Hampshire)

It's both risk and reward for Sol Budinger who gives Keith Barker his second wicket of the morning.

He thrashes the fourth ball of the over the leg side for the first boundary.

But then he tries the trick again to the next ball and skies to Joe Weatherley at backward point.

  20. Leics 4-1published at 2 overs

New batter Lewis Hill is yet to face as Sol Budinger plays out a maiden over to Ian Holland.

It's not comfortable, though. Just the four plays and misses.

    Leics need to settle.
