How long before we start wondering whether Beaumont will become the third English batter to get a century in all three formats?

  3. Eng 160-2published at 46 overs

A determined-looking Kim Garth bounds and squares up Nat Sciver-Brunt with a yorker third ball which the England batter does well to dig out.

Just one run taken from that over by England but Garth snatches her baggy green back at the end of the over and scowls.

Sciver-Brunt hit one of the shots of the day to get off the mark and is showing lots of intent.

When women started to hit more bigger shots, they wanted more elevation with the bat. People like Meg Lanning started that and just made sure they started doing that. Our generation came through, knocked it on the floor and just pushed.

  6. Eng 159-2published at 43 overs

Fantastic technique from Nat Sciver-Brunt as she drives Ash Gardner's first ball through the covers in magnificent fashion. That made a lovely noise right off the middle of the bat.

That was some way to get off the mark.

Sciver-Brunt then steps across and biffs Gardner into the leg side for a couple more.

The light is not great but the lights are on. I would be disappointed if they took the players off.

  8. Eng 151-2published at 42 overs

Tammy Beaumont happy to block out a Kim Garth for a maiden. A minimum of 11 overs left in the day.

Daniel Stevanato: When a batter gets 150+ in men's cricket, it's called a daddy hundred. What's it called when a batter gets 150+ in women's cricket? A mummy hundred, or something else entirely?

Nat Sciver-Brunt is the new batter for England and she is able to see of the rest of Ash Gardner's over without any real concerns.

I've just felt that last couple of overs, Heather and Tammy have made the decision to take on the spinner. She's played brilliantly, but I just wonder if that shift of dynamic has led to that.

All it takes was one ball and that stand of 115 is over. No century for Heather Knight.

    Knight c Healy b Gardner 57 (Eng 151-2)

Heather Knight reverse sweeps Ash Gardner for four, but next ball is edged on to the keeper.

Knight probably had to play at that. It's a very thin edge through to the gloves of Alyssa Healy who is as cock-a-hoop as uncle Ian used to be behind the stumps.

The lights are on at Trent Bridge and it is a little gloomy.

A couple of gentlemen in the crowd are wearing Hawaiian shirts emblazoned with Heather Knight's face on them are brightening things up a little.

Kim Garth's latest over is milked by Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont.

The captain has been leading from the front. Heather Knight is a calm character. She's not finished the job and she knows that. That half-century is a big milestone for her.

  17. Eng 144-1published at 39.2 overs

A captain's knock from Heather Knight, thus far. She's been on the front foot.

This is now Tammy Beaumont's best ever score in Test cricket. Her previous best was a knock of 70 against Australia in Sydney back in 2017.

Tammy Beaumont with excellent use of the feet as she skips down the pitch and whips Ash Gardner's fourth ball into the leg side boundary. A shot of player brimming with confidence.
