Heather Knight absolutely creams a pull off Alana King at Phoebe Litchfield who is stationed under the lid at short leg. It deflected off the helmet and she looks a bit shocked.

A member of the Australia backroom team is on the field to check on her well being.

There's a short delay to Alana King's over after a gentleman in a chequered shirt supping a pint of bitter wanders in front of the sightscreen.

Ellyse Perry, sun cream smeared across her face, has a furrowed look on her brow.

The final delivery of her sixth over is full, swings, and induces a big waft from Tammy Beaumont but there's no bat on it.

Tammy Beaumont is pure class, I could watch her bat all day.

Tammy Beaumont has been good value so far for England. She has batted confidently and fluently.

  6. Eng 109-1published at 28 overs

    Alana King continues.

From the fourth ball of her over Tammy Beaumont spoons an inside edge off her pads but it goes beyond short leg amid cries of 'catch it' from Australia's players.

England pick up four runs off the over. Wickets in hand at the close will be key, you sense.

Ellyse is still getting it moving nicely. This is the first time, barring, the warm-up game, that Australia's players have played with the Dukes ball.

  8. Aus 105-1published at 27 overs

Ellyse Perry wrestles an over back for Australia with some disciplined lines. That's a maiden.

England trail by 368 runs now. They are quietly chipping away.

I feel like here in England, more people come through the gates and enjoy women's cricket. I'd like to see the WBBL scheduled around when more people can go and watch it. The next step is to create atmosphere at the ground.

  10. Eng 105-1published at 26 overs

Tammy Beaumont with a smooth sweep off Alana King's third to double the boundary count in the over as England confidently reach three figures.

That's the biggest gift of them all. That's a Happy Christmas for Beaumont's fifty. That's just a mark your card, they need a hundred from one of these two.

  12. 50 runs

Fifty for Beaumontpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 23 June 2023

Alana King's first ball of her second over is freebie for Tammy Beaumont, who pulls it to the fence for four.

That brings up her half-century off 75 balls. Her third in Test cricket.

Beaumont has missed three clear chances here to get her 50.

  14. Eng 96-1published at 25 overs

Ellyse Perry gives Tammy Beaumont a juicy full toss with her third ball but the England bater drills it low straight to cover. That should have been dispatched to the boundary.

Beuamont is given another couple of full bungers later in the over but the best she can manage is a leg bye.

England have seen off the pace attack, but Australia have got some quality spin options.

  16. Eng 93-1published at 24 overs

Alyssa Healy turns to spin for the first time as Alana King is thrown the ball.

Tammy Beaumont is on 49 but is happy to see off a maiden from the Aussie leg-spinner.

I think in Test cricket, you see the back foot shot more often. A wonderful stroke by Heather Knight. What we're already seeing is positive play from England, nothing crazy. This is a very positive approach.

  18. Eng 93-1published at 23 overs

    Oh behave Heather Knight.

Ellyse Perry is a little short with her second ball, and Knight transfers her weight to the back foot and punches it through the covers for four.

    That was a sumptuous shot.

I'm not sure there is a better cut shot in the game. The cut shot of Tammy Beaumont, you just don't want to feed that. I've not seen her get out to it that often, but she's scored plenty of runs from it.
