Solid effort from Kim Garth in her seventh over, delivering a maiden to Heather Knight.

I suspect England's captain won't be too concerned about the pace of the innings - she'll just want to bat long.

What's the highest run score England have for an innings? Could be interesting to see if they can get near Australia's score.

    Eddie, Kent

England have outscored Australia's first innings total of 473 twice in women's Test cricket. They declared on 503/5 against New Zealand in 1935 and more recently, scored 497 against South Africa in 2003.

  3. Eng 55-1published at 14 overs

Sutherland can't stay blemish-free forever. She delivers a full-toss and Beaumont doesn't need asking twice - it's dispatched past mid-on for four.

England have two of their most experienced batters at the crease in Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont but they have it up against them. Looking at the two teams, England are the underdogs. It's been a pretty big workload for England's bowlers. When England face this big run chase, they have to contend with the face that Australia can keep their bowlers fresher for longer.

  5. Eng 49-1published at 13 overs

More boundaries for Knight off Garth - she turns her to fine leg and then pushes one wide of gully off consecutive deliveries.

Lucky Sutherland has it buttoned up at the other end.

The strength of where women's cricket is in Australia is now, a lot of thanks goes to James Sutherland, especially the time where the WBBL got off the ground, they took a risk there. Once it was out there to see, the viewers came to see it.

Sutherland's father is former Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland. Her brother Will had a break-out season with Victoria this year, but had to pull out of a spell with Essex this summer after sustaining an injury.

    Quite the cricketing family.

Back to back maidens for Annabel Sutherland, what a beautiful way to start off with the ball after peeling off an unbeaten hundred. Beautiful batting conditions here at Trent Bridge.

  9. Eng 41-1published at 12 overs

Sutherland follows her wicket-maiden with a maiden. She cuts Tammy Beaumont in half, but there's no contact with the inside edge of the bat as the ball flies through to Alyssa Healy.

Textbook defence from Beaumont to finish the over, she holds the pose for a second - cast it in bronze.

To answer a question (15:09) about scoring and conceding a century, Yasir Shah managed it against Australia. Scored 113, but conceded 197!

Beautiful way to get off the mark. Heather Knight hit that well. If they take anything out of Australia's book, anything full is a freebie.

  12. Eng 41-1published at 11 overs

Beaumont takes the single in the covers from the first ball to put Knight straight into the action. She's facing Kim Garth, who's changed ends to replace Darcie Brown.

A watchful start, before Knight gets her own runs through the covers - pushing a full and wide delivery past the fielder for four.

Great wicket. A centurion and in her first delivery she beat the outside edge of Emma Lamb and then five balls later she found the edge.

    First one down!

Healy introduces centurion Annabel Sutherland into the attack in place of Kim Garth and she has a scalp in her first over.

Having scored all those runs in the first innings, she turns off England's tap with five dot balls. Does Lamb feel the pressure? She edges the final ball into the hands of Jess Jonassen at slip.

What a match Sutherland is having.

Tammy Beaumont is playing some dismissive shots and I am enjoying it. As soon as you have a wicket that favours the batter, you should bowl less length, but you end up bowling more. She's not just smoking it to the boundary, she's creaming it.

  17. Eng 36-0published at 9 overs

Tammy Beaumont has her eye in and she's feasting on the fare of Darcie Brown.

A drive through the covers is followed by a cut between slip and gully. The final ball is pulled to the ropes for the third time. Fantastic stuff.

Why didn't Oz declare on 393? Because they like winning. Watch and learn ego people...

Michael: Dare I point out that Australia could have (unwisely) declared on 393-8?

Can a batter use DRS to overturn a leg byes decision if they know they have gloved it for 4? Might be useful if 98* at the time.
