    Warner c Bharat b Thakur 43 (Aus 71-2)

    Snaffled down the leg side!

Shardul Thakur tries the short ball from around the wicket, David Warner tries to pull it but can only glove it down leg.

Srikar Bharat dives to his right to take the catch and a disbelieving Warner has to go.

From absolutely nowhere, India have made the breakthrough.

  2. Aus 71-1published at 21.2 overs

    Crunch!

Half-volley from Shardul Thakur and David Warner drives confidently through the covers for four.

  4. Aus 67-1published at 21 overs

A freebie from Umesh Yadav to end the over. Full and angling down leg, Marnus Labuschagne glances it very fine for an easy boundary.

We've got around 10 minutes left in the session. Australia will be the happier of the sides so far.

Sporting Badger: If the morning session of TMS is anything to go by, then this summer's Ashes comms is going to be incredible! Excellent insight from Langer and a steady flow of jibes from Simon Mann!

  6. Aus 62-1published at 20 overs

After two lbw reviews in the past two overs from Shardul Thakur, the bowler has his hands on his head again as Marnus Labuschagne prods forward to another nip-backer.

No lbw shout here as an inside edge runs backward of square leg for a couple. Without the edge, Thakur might finally have been in business.

He clearly fancies his chances of getting Labuschagne lbw and wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat is up to the stumps to keep the Australia number three in his crease.

The ploy doesn't bring the wicket in this over but it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Ben Stokes at Headingley 2019 was the worst day of my entire career, not just my coaching career.

  9. Aus 60-1published at 19 overs

Play and a miss from David Warner as he tries to cut.

It was too close to him from Umesh Yadav and not that far away from off stump.

Nor is the next one! Warner choses to leave and the ball is mere centimetres away from knocking the off pole out of the ground!

As much as I admire how big and grand they have made the IPL, literally nothing that happens in that tournament or that format can match the skill and entertainment shown by Siraj and Shami in the first hour of this Test match.

    Warner 39, Labuschagne 20

Five from it but another close lbw shout in the Shardul Thakur over.

Not close enough and the longer it goes on, the more this feels like a good session for Australia.

  12. Not outpublished at 17.4 overs

    Aus 60-1

    Missing leg.

It nipped back again it beat the inside edge and Marnus Labuschagne indicated early on that he felt it was sliding down leg.

He was right and India lose a review.

It may have been going down the leg side, which is why Richard Illingworth gave it not out.

  15. India reviewpublished at 17.4 overs

    Aus 60-1

Another lbw appeal against Marnus Labuschagne, off Shardul Thakur.

It looks very similar to the last one and India review again.

  16. Aus 60-1published at 17.3 overs

    Top shot from Marnus Labuschagne.

Slightly too short, slightly too wide and with a flick of the wrists, Labuschagne sends the ball racing through backward point for four.

I'm happy to allow Pete and partner to name their own baby, as long as the child's nickname is 'last-minute-Mo-to-the-rescue'

    Rob in Motherwell

I don't know about baby names, but how about, in homage to the five wicket haul, the new dad changes his name to Pete Tongue?

Marnus Labuschagne is hit on the glove again by another ball that jumps from just back of a length.

He gives his hand a shake but he doesn't need the physio this time. He'll soldier on.

  19. Aus 54-1published at 16 overs

Maiden over from Shardul Thakur. He's certainly not the quickest of the India seamers but he can cause real problems and has started well.
