Aus 103-3published at 29.1 overs
That's delicious from Travis Head, who has looked in really good touch so far.
He leans into a Mohammed Siraj delivery and strokes it gloriously off his pads into a yawning gap in the on side for four.
Dominant Australia close on 327-3
Head 146* and Smith 95*
Pair put on unbeaten stand of 251
Warner caught for 43, Khawaja removed for duck & Labuschagne bowled for 26

The Mexican wave has started at The Oval. The cricket is a lot more engrossing to deserve that, surely?
Another of those exaggerated leaves from Steve Smith, who knows exactly where his off stump is.
Travis Head then gets a single with a half push/half leave that hits the underside of his bat and squirts into the off side.

Sweet, sweet timing from Travis Head. This boy can hit them well when he's in.
Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are really bending their backs after lunch - and the boisterous India fans in the crowd are responding.
Steve Smith, such a curious player to watch at the crease, is all action. Shuffling around, adjusting his pads, scanning the fielding positions.
A powerful push off the back foot into the off side brings three runs, before a perfectly timed clip off the pads from Travis Head fizzes through the on side past mid-on for four.

We've seen the ball just lifting off that length area a few times today.

There's a big appeal from behind the stumps belatedly. Will India go for the review?
They've decided on reflection - 'nah, no review'.
I think it's missed everything. It wasn't far away but it did miss.
There is some intent about the bowling. Shami has got Smith being a bit cautious.
Steve Smith goes for a wild pull - but has he feathered that through to wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat?
The India fielders go up. Rohit Sharma says no to the review and the replays show that was the right decision.

Travis Head timed that to perfection and the ball races away over the square at The Oval.
That's a brilliantly timed shot from Travis Head, opening the face slightly and clattering the ball through the covers for his second four. That fizzed to the boundary.
Head looks in the mood.

It's a fourth consecutive bowled dismissal for Marnus Labuschagne. He was lbw in his two before that.
So he's been bowled or lbw with his last six dismissals. He'd only been bowled or lbw five times in his previous 36 Test innings.
The clattering of stumps. One of the best sights in cricket (unless you are the batter).
Mohammed Shami bowls around the wicket to left-hander Travis Head, who nervously fishes for the ball outside his off stump but gets nothing on it.
He is more composed next delivery, pushing the ball backward of square in the off side to get off the mark with a four.
That Mohammed Shami delivery was the fullest he has bowled to Marnus Labuschagne all match. Whatever plan they hatched during the lunch break has worked.
Travis Head is the new batter.

Bolt upright seam from Shami, nips back towards the batter. What a start for Shami, what a start for India.
Labuschagne was set.

Shami has got through first ball after lunch. It was quite a loose drive from Labuschagne.
Perhaps he didn't bowl full enough before lunch, that was full enough. That feels like a big moment on this first day.
Labuschagne b Shami 26 (Aus 76-3)
Bowled 'im!!
Mohammed Shami's first delivery after lunch is full, Marnus Labuschagne pushes forward but with minimal footwork, the ball escapes through the gate and clatters into the stumps!

Let's all settle in for an exciting afternoon's entertainment at 2 runs an over with Australia's yawn fest batsmen!

Robinson, Anderson and Broad would have had Australia 65-5 this morning.

Quite a wild over from Siraj.
Mohammed Siraj strays on leg again and it takes some nifty footwork from Mohammed Shami to prevent Steve Smith's clip off his pads going over the rope for four.
Siraj then overcompensates by arrowing the next delivery well wide of off stump.
A bits and pieces over to start the session.
