  1. Goodbye!published at 15:59 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

Scotland beat Oman by 76 runs (Scotland 320 v Oman 244-9)

Despite some resilient Omani batting, Scotland got there in the end. As it did against Ireland, the spotlight shone on Brandon McMullen - Brando, to friends - and he shone right back.

What a find he has been for Scotland, with his player of the match performance setting up a top-of-the-group clash against Sri Lanka. If he plays like that again - 136 with the bat, a wicket with the ball and two catches in the field - Scotland have a shout.

And he did all that with a stomach bug? Fair play!

We'll see you bright and early for that match on Tuesday.

  2. Berrington praises 'match-winners'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

Scotland beat Oman by 76 runs (Scotland 320 v Oman 244-9)

Scotland skipper Richie Berrington tells Sky Sports: "It was a really important win today, we knew it would be a tough game. It was a good performance all round with bat and ball.

"We got put in this morning. It was a tricky first 10 overs but the guys managed it well. The partnership set things up nicely for the middle period. It was pleasing to put 320 on the board.

"We knew all the games would be tough. We've had a few challenges off the field but we've got a strong squad with a lot of belief. We've had three different match-winners already and that says a lot about this team.

"We know the importance of every game in this competition, and every point. Tuesday will be another big one against a very good Sri Lanka team.

"We've been playing a lot of very good cricket but we know we'll have to keep getting better with every game we play.

"The support has been great so far, so hopefully we can keep putting smiles on their face."

  3. McMullen does it all his own waypublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

Scotland beat Oman by 76 runs (Scotland 320 v Oman 244-9)

Player of the match Brandon McMullen tells Sky Sports: "It was a great day and a great way to finish. Our bowlers were clinical, and Greavo finished it off incredibly well.

"I just tried to keep it as simple as possible and do it my way. I played my own game. I can't give you those secrets yet!

"We just need to play our best cricket and be more disciplined with the bat and ball. That's basically it. Score more than Sri Lanka, that's what [Matthew] Crossy always says."

  4. SCOTLAND WIN BY 76 RUNS!published at 15:40 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Oman 244-9 (target 321)

Scotland confirm their third consecutive win, following victories over Ireland and the UAE.

Their massive tally of 321 was spearheaded by Brandon McMullen - who we ran out of superlatives for by the end. He scored 136 with the bat, took the vital wicket of Kashyap Prajapati, and two brilliant catches. He has well and truly announced himself on the world stage.

They threatened to skittle Oman, but a superb fightback from Ayaan Khan, Shoaib Khan and mainly Naseem Khushi made it tighter than they would have liked. Chris Greaves fifer will have boosted morale though.

Just Sri Lanka left on Tuesday.

  5. wicket

WICKET Butt b Greaves 10published at 49.1 overs

    Oman 241-9 (target 321)

YES HE CAN! He tempts Fayyaz Butt, luring him in. The bowler tries the big sweep and totally misses and Greaves - as he so often is - is on the stumps.

A fifer! He'll be delighted... can he get a sixfer? Behave!

  6. Postpublished at 49 runs

    Oman 241-8 (target 321)

No wickets today for Sayfaan Sharif, so he's no closer to that mystical 100th ODI wicket. It will come in time, I'm sure.

Chris Greaves is on for the final over. Can he get a fifer?

  7. wicket

WICKET Shoaib Khan c McMullen b Greaves 36published at 47.3 overs

    Oman 235-8 (target 321)

But he's gone the next ball! Michael Leask can breathe a sigh of relief.

Who else but Brandon McMullen? The boy can do no wrong today! That's a superb take!

Khan launched it off the bat but McMullen sprinted to get there, diving to ensure he held onto the ball.

Chris Greaves now has four today.

  8. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 47.2 overs

    Oman 236-7 (target 321)

Michael Leask with the mistake! He's at deep square leg aiming to catch out Shoaib Khan, but he spills it! It was in his mitts!

He's one of Scotland's best fielders but he's made a total mess of that.

  9. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 47 overs

    Oman 234-7 (target 321)

Six more! Safyaan Sharif isn't having a good day with the ball in hand. It's just the third ball Fayyaz Butt has faced since coming in, but he's whipped that effortlessly over square leg.

There was a point where Oman looked unlikely to build on the 98 all out they scored against Sri Lanka, but they've dug in really well and they'll end up north of 250, you'd imagine. That isn't bad at all.

  10. wicket

WICKET Naseem Khushi c McBride b Greaves 69published at 45.5 overs

    Oman 225-7 (target 321)

A much, much needed wicket for Scotland. A low full-toss that Khushi tries to nail to the boundary, but Chris McBride is lurking in the shade to punish him.

A valiant innings from the wicket-keeper that has given Oman a slight sniff.

Can Scotland motor on now and put this game to bend once and for all?

  11. Khushi and Shoaib Khan reach 100 partnershippublished at 45 overs

    Oman 220-6 (target 321)

Safyaan Sharif is back into the attack. His first ball is a low full toss that Khushi scoops for four. He's read the field and the ball perfectly, it's an outrageous piece of skill.

He gets away with his next shot though. It goes high into the Zimbabwe sky but thankfully for the batsman, there's no one underneath it.

And then a reverse ramp! What class!

And another boundary! Three from the over! Another full toss that Khushi plays away to square leg.

It's an 100 partnership between Naseem Khushi and Shoaib Khan - it's hurting Scotland, but it's all too little, too late most likely.

  12. Postpublished at 44 overs

    Oman 206-6 (target 321)

Oman will go after Chris Greaves here. Can he catch anything, as he dangles the bait down to the other end of the wicket? Removing either of these batsmen would be a big weight off.

Nope. Just four off the over.

  13. 50 runs

    50published at 42.4 overs

    Oman 200-6 (target 321)

And he does it in style! Naseem Khushi slogs sweeps to the short boundary! It's a massive six! He removes the helmet, his first 50 in ODIs.

Well this isn't what Scotland need at all. It's not a bad score for Oman on the face of it and while it looks unlikely to be enough, it shows how Scotland have let the game drift.

It's really a shame Oman didn't have this aggression and impetus at the start of the innings.

  14. Postpublished at 41.2 overs

    Oman 190-6 (target 321)

Seven from that last Chris Sole over. Expensive by his standards. Mark Watt comes back to mop up, conceding just the one.

It's been a long, slow fizzle in this game. But, there's still time for maximums! Chris Greaves is back and his second ball of the over is OUTTA there. Tossed up and slogged over mid-wicket by Shoaib Khan.

Oman require 137 from 53 balls.

  15. Postpublished at 39 overs

    Oman 175-6 (target 321)

The last 30 balls have yielded 45 runs for Oman. Scotland need to give themselves a wee shake here.

Naseem Khushi is up to 37 - his second highest ODI innings. There's also a 50 partnership between Naseem and Shoaib Khan - the latter has 11 of them.

Seven from the latest Mark Watt over. They've let it drift in the last five overs.

  16. Postpublished at 38 overs

    Oman 168-6 (target 321)

Scotland respond by restoring Chris Sole to the attack - the most economical bowler of the day. He doesn't have a wicket yet, somehow.

The camera pans to a dejected Adrian Neill - his figures have been obliterated by that last over. He's scratching his head way up in the clouds - how did that happen?

Back to the wicket, Naseem Khushi plays Sole away for two. Khushi has been superb since drinks. Then there's four leg byes. A little Oman resurgence here.

  17. 6 runs

Nineteen from the over!published at 37 overs

    Oman 161-6 (target 321)

Now that's not very clever from Adrian Neill. An above-the-waist no ball, that costs five runs. That gives Oman a free hit... and it's a wild swing in the end, to a fairly wide delivery. Neill, to an extent, gets away with one.

Ohhh Naseem Khushi. That's the shot of the day. The little man spanks the big man back over his head for six. That is a monster of a hit.

AND HE DOES IT AGAIN! Take that Adrian Neill! That cleared everything! Two sixes in two balls! He doesn't give it everything - but the technique is perfect.

Nineteen - yes, nineteen - from this over. That might be Adrian Neill's input for the day.

  18. Khushi impresses after drinkspublished at 36 overs

    Oman 142-6 (target 321)

Following the drinks break, Naseem Khushi has found the boundary thrice. First, against Adrian Neill - pulled between fine leg and deep square.

Then, twice in Greaves' next spell. The first was fortuitous, popping off his glove and beating short fine to the boundary.

The next was much better, a fine sweep shot. Excellently played and while it may not be enough, he's being allowed to exhibit his talents.

  19. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 34 overs

    Oman 125-6 (target 321)

Adrian Neill is back on for a spell, shipping just two. Three comes from the next Chris Greaves over.

You'd suspect Scotland would like to try and skittle the remaining Omani wickets. Getting some rest in the legs and some more confidence in the bowlers, finishing it nice and early in other words - that wouldn't go amiss.

I'm going to follow their lead and make a brew. Back in a second.

  20. wicket

WICKET Ayaan Khan c McMullen b Greaves 30published at 31.6 overs

    Oman 120-6 (target 321)

Never mind! Ayaan Khan tries to slog again but he gets his timing wrong, and Chris Greaves can breathe a sigh of relief. Needless to say, he's had the last laugh.

This particular swipe from Khan finds mid-on, as he failed to find the middle of the bat. Regardless of the dismissal, it's been a solid effort of Ayaan Khan.

Here comes Naseem Khushi, the wicket-keeper. Can he find a double ton to give Oman the win?
