  1. Postpublished at 26 overs

    Scotland 132-2 v Oman

Ayaan Khan is still on, despite that last over. The batters fancy it against him, and McMullen drives just over the bowler's head to pump it downtown and bring up the fifty stand between this pair.

    They've reached it awfy quick.

  2. Postpublished at 25 overs

    Scotland 125-2

Richie Berrington gets another couple from that Odreda over - including another boundary, as he swept beautifully to the rope.

It's a much different innings from the Scotland skipper today, and it requires it. He's far more intent on scoring, much less focused on keeping his wicket. He just wants to motor this score on, as Oman have chased well in this tournament.

  3. Postpublished at 24 overs

    Scotland 118-2 v Oman

Ayaan Khan comes back, but this over is far, far more expensive - the most costly of the innings so far, in fact.

McMullen alone takes nine, including another nice boundary that he spanked past long-on. Berrington made three.

Scotland are just cranking up the heat a little.

  4. Postpublished at 23 overs

    Scotland 106-2 v Oman

Ayaan Khan's over produces four. A quick, non-dramatic over.

Odreda comes down the other end and McMullen drives through cover - again - to bring up Scotland's hundred with another boundary.

A couple of singles, before Berrington spoons one - and it drops just short of midwicket. The sigh of relief from the Scotland camp is almost audible.

  5. McMullen achieves PBpublished at 21 overs

    Scotland 95-2 v Oman

Odreda is back on, with McMullen able to clip away to long-on. An overthrow leads to two.

Odreda then tries a slower on but the Scot reads it well, waiting and slapping through cover for a four. That's him onto 59 - overtaking his previous best of 56 v Namibia in December 2022.

    Well done that man!

  6. Postpublished at 20 overs

    Scotland 89-2 v Oman

Ayaan Khan is on to bowl in another change of attack from Oman.

His second ball almost sees another drag on. This time it was Brandon McMullen, with the 23-year-old bottom edging. The keeper couldn't react quick enough - a tough ask, in fairness.

Two from the over, and Oman have a smidge of momentum here. Scotland have to hold out.

  7. Postpublished at 19 overs

    Scotland 87-2 v Oman

Well, there are worse batsmen to come in.

Here comes captain Richie Berrington, fresh from one of his finest performances with the blade. With just his second ball, he nicks it off his knee down to deep fine leg and steals a four.

He actually read that really well, it spun a mile.

  8. wicket

WICKET Cross b Odedra 27published at 18.1 overs

    Scotland 82-2 v Oman

Oh you're kidding?! Matthew Cross will be devastated with that. He edges onto his back leg, with the ball bouncing in slow motion towards the stumps. There's barely enough on it for the bails to fall, but fall they do.

The partnership is over, with Jay Odedra's first ball. All that hard work, and he goes for 27. Gutting.

  9. 50 runs

    50published at 18 overs

    Scotland 82-1 v Oman

Oh Brandon McMullen! What a way to bring up your 50 - a MASSIVE six! A beautiful shot, launched back over the bowler's head with a beautiful drive.

That's his second ODI 50 - he's close to his highest ever Scotland innings. Seven boundaries, and he's been controlled since navigating that tricky opening spell. It's some response to his meagre four against the UAE.

  10. McMullen moving nicelypublished at 17 overs

    Scotland 73-1 v Oman

Nadeem gets us back underway. With his fourth ball, he offers McMullen a little something and the Scottish batsman takes it. There's a little width, and McMullen's timing is spot on, cutting it on the front foot away to point.

And he takes four from the final delivery of the over, too. A short ball sits up for him, and he pulls it away. He doesn't catch this one quite as cleanly, and it bounces and trickles to the rope. Five away from the 50, now.

  11. drinks break

Drinks breakpublished at 09:12 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Scotland 64-1 v Oman

That's the run rate up to dead on 4 - meaning the projection is 200 exactly. Scotland though, will be aiming for at least the 280 they made against the UAE. There should be enough in this pitch to get it.

Right, I'm off to make another coffee.

  12. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 16 overs

    Scotland 64-1 v Oman

A much better over from Nadeem, conceding just two and coming close to the outside edge a couple of times. Despite that, this is undoubtedly Scotland's best start of the tournament.

Maqsood comes back on - and with his first ball, McMullen drags a sweep shot over the short boundary. That's technically two sixes in two balls for both Maqsood and McMullen.

Thankfully for Oman, the rest are dots and it's end up being an inexpensive over.

  13. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 14 overs

    Scotland 56-1 v Oman

Five from Nadeem's last over, and Scotland play the ones-and-twos. The current projection is 198 but expect that to change.

Maqsood comes back on, and he's getting nice turn. It looks to be a good over - and then Brandon McMullen unleashes! He hammers it wide of long-on and gets the first maximum of the day! How about it!

  14. Maqsood on to bowlpublished at 12 overs

    Scotland 42-1 v Oman

The captain puts himself on, Zeeshan Maqsood. His first ball, to Matthew Cross, results in a very loud appeal. Again, it's probably going down leg and Scotland take the run instead.

Three off the over in the end - the current run rate is 3.5. After a very early loss of McBride's wicket, Scotland will probably take that.

  15. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 11 overs

    Scotland 39-1 v Oman

First change in bowlers from Oman. 40-year-old medium-pacer Mohammed Nadeem is on, as Powerplay 2 comes into effect. Only four fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle until the 40th over.

Final ball of the over sees a dropped catch, although I'm maybe being harsh. Short mid-wicket didn't have much time to adjust and it absolutely flew at him. McMullen, meanwhile, runs two.

  16. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Scotland 35-1 v Oman

Fourth delivery from Butt to McMullen - probably shot of the day so far - drilling it wide of mid-off all the way to the boundary.

Seven off the over, all going to Brandon McMullen. This is much better stuff from the youngster.

It's not as nice from Cross on the final delivery. He bottom edged just past his own stumps.

  17. Postpublished at 9 overs

    Scotland 28-1 v Oman

Direct hit at the non-striker's end! Cross tapped Khan's delivery to mid-off and tried to take the quick single. The ball was fired back and Cross was diving, but umpire Bongani Jele is sure it's not out. He doesn't even go upstairs.

Three off the over. Cross and McMullen building a nice partnership here.

  18. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Scotland 25-1 v Oman

Small appeal from Oman as McMullen inside edges onto his pad and runs for a single.

Cross is on strike and pulls a lovely shot behind square leg for a four. It was short, and gave Cross a perfect opportunity to slam that away.

Another appeal with the final ball, with Cross struck on the pad, but it's down leg.

  19. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Scotland 20-1 v Oman

A tricky over for McMullen. He just about read the first one, a delivery that barely bounced and he got an angled blade to it.

The third is tricky, too, and there's a big appeal for LBW from Bilal Khan. McMullen was well outside his crease so it was most likely high. Nothing given.

He punches wide to mid-off on the next ball, getting himself off strike, before Cross adds two.

  20. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Scotland 16-1 v Oman

Cross gets two from Fayyaz Butt's first ball, clipping wide of mid-on from a slightly shorter delivery.

The fourth delivery is very wide and Cross gets a thick bottom edge that bounces over the leaping Naseem Khushi behind the stumps and goes all the way for four.

You'll take them, however they come.
