  1. wicket

WICKET Leask c Maqsood b Bilal Khan 11published at 43.2 overs

    Scotland 262-5 v Oman

Oh, Michael Leask. It's the exact same shot, to the exact same place, but this time Zeeshan Maqsood is well positioned and it's a dolly for him.

Leask leaves in pursuit of quick runs, and Chris Greaves comes in. He's the man tasked with pumping the score up.

  2. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 43.1 overs

    Scotland 262-4 v Oman

It's Leask to face Bilal Khan! Has it gone all the way? It has! Straight on to the top of the rope!

Zeeshan Maqsood has just bowled, and he's the man that Leask almost picked out. He was five feet in from the boundary line, and it just brushed his finger tips as it went all the way.

  3. Most expensive over so farpublished at 43 overs

    Scotland 256-4 v Oman

We expected Leask to start teeing off but it's Tomas Mackintosh hitting the boundaries at the end of this over.

The first is a misfielded reverse sweep - he's tried that shot a couple of times already, but this is the first that reaches the rope. That'll boost him.

His repeats the trick for his next shot, but it's far better. The fielder is nowhere near that one, it's clean and through the gap. He's up to 16 off 13 balls.

  4. Leask in for Scotlandpublished at 42 overs

    Scotland 243-4 v Oman

I wonder if McMullen was feeling a little pressure to ramp up the score, with Mackintosh still feeling his way into it at the other end.

Either way, Michael Leask is in for Scotland now and really, he's the perfect man for the job. They'll be aiming for 320 or so, and he is the man to do it.

He's off the mark already, as Zeeshan Maqsood brings himself back on.

  5. wicket

WICKET McMullen c Prajapati b Bilal Khan 136published at 41.4 overs

    Scotland 242-4 v Oman

It's over. McMullen takes it on, trying to blast it over wide mid-on, but he doesn't fully catch it and Kashyap Prajapati gobbles it up.

There's applause, there's handshakes. What an innings from young Brandon McMullen. Scotland have found an absolute gem.

  6. Postpublished at 41 overs

    Scotland 238-3 v Oman

McMullen now on 135* - and that is the highest score in this year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. After his five-wicket haul against Ireland, it's safe to say he has been a revelation for Scotland.

Tomas Mackintosh takes a very quick single there, with McMullen barely getting to the other end. A little inexperience showing there, perhaps.

  7. Postpublished at 40 overs

    Scotland 232-3 v Oman

Brandon McMullen has just punched that back over the bowler's head for another four - only just. It bounced an inch or two in front of the rope. He's played that shot before today, and he's done it well.

Nine off Bilal Khan's latest over. Ten overs left.. how many can Scotland get here?

  8. Postpublished at 39 overs

    Scotland 224-3 v Oman

Tomas Mackintosh replaces Berrington out there, and with his second ball faced he drives to long-off and collects a single. Off the mark.

Momentum and impetus is still with Scotland, but they would like to bump this score higher still. 290 is the projection. Could McMullen even aim for a double ton? Plenty of time left.

  9. wicket

WICKET Berrington run out Singh 60published at 38.3 overs

    Scotland 220-3 v Oman

    That's disappointing.

A misfield from Jatinder Singh results in indecision from Berrington, as Scotland try a quick single. He just pauses halfway up the wicket, and it gives Singh time to gather and launch it to Khushi, who takes the bails off.

Berrington dolphin dived, but his bat hit the ground and bounced awkwardly into the air. It's just a few centimetres off the ground but it means there's nothing behind the line for the Scotland skipper.

The first mistake from this pair, and they're punished to full effect.

  10. Postpublished at 38 overs

    Scotland 219-2 v Oman

Oh, Brandon McMullen - stop that! He scuttles across his crease nice and early and scoops Fayyaz Butt for four at short fine leg. He's gone so far, he loses his balance and falls on his back as he does it!

Lying like an overturned beetle, he watches it race to the boundary.

    11 from the over.

  11. Postpublished at 37 overs

    Scotland 208-2 v Oman

Back under way, and Zeeshan Maqsood brings himself back on. Two balls into the over, Brandon McMullen outside edges all the way to the rope. When it's going your way, you can - just about - get away with those.

Easy to forget, McMullen was dropped on 17 back in the 11th over by Jatinder Singh. It was a hard catch right enough, but he got a hand to it.

  12. drinks break

Drinks breakpublished at 10:28 British Summer Time 25 June 2023

    Scotland 201-2 v Oman

"McMullen is a gun" reads a text from BBC Sport Scotland's George O'Neill.

    Do you agree?

  13. 50 runs

    50published at 36 overs

    Scotland 201-2 v Oman

Following on from his 127 against UAE on Friday, Berrington reaches the half-ton with a quick single. He made Brandon McMullen put the skates on!

Six fours on his way to the 50. He's been quite happy to play second fiddle to McMullen in this innings, reaching the milestone without too much of a spotlight.

He played a fantastic paddle sweep the over before, too. This partnership has been some spectacle.

Fayyaz Butt is back on bowling, and Berrington has drilled him to deep extra cover. Scotland have all the answers for Oman right now. The 200 is up, and drinks are on.

  14. Postpublished at 34 overs

    Scotland 181-2 v Oman

Nadeem is back on, and immediately met with Richie Berrington's finest shot of the day. A little two-step down the wicket, perfect timing and he belts it over mid-off. Have that!

If the Scotland skipper starts teeing off, Oman could be on the receiving end of a spanking. Their bowlers are getting nothing right now, and it's almost a-run-a-ball at the moment.

That's the partnership up to 99.

  15. Postpublished at 33 overs

    Scotland 172-2 v Oman

Finally, Ilyas concedes a boundary. In fact, he concedes two in a row.

The first is edged between the keeper's legs by Richie Berrington, before he lofts one over cover for back-to-back fours.

I'd keep watching/reading this innings. It'll start to really ramp up. McMullen could score very, very big.

  16. 100 runs

    100published at 31.5 overs

    Scotland 161-2 v Oman

YES! HE'S DONE IT! What an innings from Brandon McMullen. It's had a bit of everything, but mainly it's had class. Scotland's very own Baz ball.

Ian Bell would be proud of some of those cover drives. It's his highest Scotland score, his first ever ton for his country and he's absolutely delighted. What a tournament he's having!

    ON YOURSELF, SON.

  17. Postpublished at 31.4 overs

    Scotland 158-2 v Oman

Only four from Ilyas' next over. Scotland still trying to suss him out.

Meanwhile, Oman captain Maqsood has placed himself at deep-third boundary and is directing the field from there. There's a bit of shade down there, maybe he's feeling the head.

Anyway, McMullen is on 99. Can you tell I'm trying not to jinx it?

  18. McMullen nears the ton...published at 30 overs

    Scotland 153-2 v Oman

Aqib Ilyas is on and he's done well, just two off the over as the batsmen adjust to the new bowler. Oman have, just slightly, slowed the Scottish momentum in the last couple of overs. Not too many boundaries, and the scoring has taken a hit.

As I write that, McMullen then finds the rope again, shovelling Ayaan Khan behind square. Not the best ball and it was punished. Scotland's number three is into the nineties. I wonder if there are some nerves out there.

Maybe not. He's just creamed another to the boundary, stepping back and slapping it through cover.

  19. Postpublished at 28 overs

    Scotland 139-2 v Oman

Big shouts of 'CATCH IT!' from that last delivery, as McMullen swept out to deep mid-wicket - but the fielder stuttered and it bounced in front of him.

The bowler, Ayaan Khan, and keeper Naseem Khushi aren't happy. They think that was a chance.

  20. McMullen impressingpublished at 27 overs

    Scotland 137-2 v Oman

93 dots in this innings so far, which is still a decent amount for Oman. But they mostly came early on, as Scotland bided their time, recovering from McBride's early exit before McMullen raced on.

It is, by a distance, his best score for Scotland thus far. Just five off that latest Odreda over.
