Here's a smug Liam Livingstone after he got rid of Glenn Phillips with a filthy full toss a few minutes ago.

England have bowled 11 overs of spin and New Zealand are yet to score a single boundary off spin.

  4. NZ 151-6published at 32 overs

Rachin Ravindra witters to himself under his breath as Liam LIvingstone ambles in with that causal approach to the crease.

The left-hander attempts to go back into his crease to Livingstone's second ball and pull him to the boundary, but the sweeper out on the fence collects it.

New Zealand need 161 from 108 balls. BIg ask.

New Zealand are going to come out of this series way worse than what they came into it. They've had injuries and barring Trent Boult, no one is in good form.

  6. NZ 146-6published at 31 overs

Moeen Ali whistles through another over in double quick time as the imposing figure of Kyle Jamieson works a couple of singles into the leg side.

Here's how Moeen claimed the wicket of Henry Nicholls a few moments ago.

They spend all of that time knocking it around. Phillips has clothed it and should go for six but it's an easy catch for Harry Brook. When you lose that intent, it can send you into a rut. You get a juicy full toss and you're just not ready for it.

    Phillips c Brook b Livingstone 25 (NZ 152-6)

Some full toss burgling from Liam Livingstone.

After a quiet period for the New Zealand batters Livingstone decides to float one up and Glenn Phillips takes the bait.

He cloths a heave to the leg side to Harry Brook in the deep who comfortably takes the catch.

Did Livingstone mean that? He'll tell you he did as he laughs and claps his hands in joy. Phillips, meanwhile, stares at the turf. He cannot believe it.

Apart from the partnership from Mitchell and Conway at Cardiff, there's not been too much New Zealand batting to shout about. Today, there just hasn't been much intent from them.

  10. NZ 139-5published at 29 overs

Rachin Ravindra chips Moeen Ali's fourth ball down the ground towards Joe Root, giving England a glimmer of a catching chance, but it falls just short of the Yorkshireman.

Two runs added to the New Zealand total.

Moeen Ali has taken five wickets in 16 overs in this series. From the start of 2019 to before this series, in his previous 46 games he took just 21 wickets in 36 innings bowled. Those came at an average of 68 runs conceded and a strike rate of a wicket every 72 balls,

In this series, he has taken one wicket for every 12 balls bowled.

  12. NZ 137-5published at 19:00 British Summer Time 15 September 2023

A quiet spell in the middle overs of New Zealand's innings as Liam LIvingstone's works hi stocky frame through another over.

Yet again Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra happy to prod and poke, dab and deflect.

Five singles from that over. Back to Moeen Ali.

New Zealand have still got two batters in who are going to the World Cup and I would like to see them be a bit more forthright and think about scoring runs, taking ones and twos.

  14. NZ 132-5published at 27 overs

Agree with you on that, Ruth. Moeen Ali continues for England.

Not a whole lot of intent from Rachin Ravindra who is happy to work the ball into the gaps. He's perhaps thinking of the bigger picture of some time in the middle rather than attempting to win this game.

Rachin Ravindra is the new batter - remember Tim Southee and Ben Lister may not bat after picking up injuries in the England innings so the tourists could effectively be seven down.

It would take something special for the Black Caps to get the win here.

    Will they do it?

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24.5 overs

    Nicholls lbw b Moeen 41 (Eng 122-5)

All the reds and Moeen strikes!

There was a long delay as the third umpire checked to see if Nicholls had got a thin inside edge. After deciding he didn't, the technology showed the ball going on to clip the top of leg.
