The levelling up of associate cricket is that these players are getting an opportunity to go and play in franchise tournaments throughout the year.

That's putting them on a more even footing when they come into international cricket.

I'm struggling to think of any time there has been a misfield or a fumble from the Netherlands.

They've been really, really sharp today.

  3. Pak 199-6published at 36 overs

Scott Edwards decides to return to double spin as Roelof van der Merwe returns.

The left-arm spinner does brilliantly to scurry across, and dive, to stop a single down the ground. Every run could be crucial.

    Just three off the over.

Here's how Bas de Leede picked up the crucial wicket of Muhammad Rizwan.

  5. Pak 196-6published at 35 overs

There's definitely something in this pitch for the spinners. That may be bad news for the Netherlands really.

Colin Ackermann finds a little bit of hold and Shadab Khan almost clips it straight to mid-wicket, but it falls just short.

Want to know more about Bas de Leede after his two crucial wickets?

This week's episode of the Stumped podcast focuses on the Netherlands all-rounder and his father Tim, who is the most capped Dutch player of all time with 237 appearances.

De Leede junior is one of the Netherlands' key players, having gained experience in county cricket for Durham this year.

"In the Netherlands, you play football or hockey. People make fun of you if you play cricket," Tim tells the Stumped team.

"That's just the way it is. But it's very special for Bas that he gets to play at a World Cup in India.

"He's only 23 but he is very ambitious."

There is still a lot of cricket to be played in this game. Pakistan have still got batting to come and we've not even considered their bowling yet.

But the Netherlands have been excellent so far.

  8. Pak 194-6published at 34 overs

Bas de Leede is a name that will be more familiar to some of you than some of the Netherlands players because of his stint with Durham this year.

At 23 he is still raw but has a lot of potential.

That rawness is on show again as he strays down the leg side and allows Shadab Khan an easy pull to the fence to get up and running.

Saud Shakeel played really well for Pakistan but his dismissal has seen three wickets fall for 30 runs in four overs.

This is frustrating for Pakistan because in the space of just one over, they seem to have undone all of the hard graft that Rizwan and Shakeel put in.

The wickets came through batter error, as well.

  11. Pak 188-6published at 33 overs

Colin Ackermann picked up the wicket of Babar Azam in his sole over early and he returns.

He rattles through a maiden for the Dutch.

They could really dry Pakistan up here.

It's a soft dismissal, a nothing shot, just wafting at a ball outside off stump.

Bas de Leede has really shifted the momentum of the game.

    Iftikhar c Edwards b De Leede 9 (Pak 188-6)

    Hello!

The Netherlands were unhappy that the umpire gave a wide for a slower-ball bouncer but the extra ball brings the wicket.

It's a slower ball from Bas de Leede and Iftikhar Ahmed just looks to guide it away but feathers an edge through to Scott Edwards.

The Dutch are banging the door wide open again.

That's everything you want from your first ball as a batter, a low full toss to put away!

  16. Pak 186-5published at 31.4 overs

    Ah, Bas.

He starts with a full toss to Mohammad Nawaz and the left-hander doesn't miss out, piercing the gap in the covers to pick up a boundary.

That's shifted the game again, with the two set batters out.

It's been wonderful work from the Netherlands to stick at it when the partnership was building.

Rizwan just played the wrong line. He looks very disappointed because that has given the Netherlands a huge opportunity to get stuck in to the Pakistan lower order.

    It's a huge breakthrough.

    WICKETpublished at 31.3 overs

    Rizwan b De Leede 68 (Pak 182-5)

    Beauty!

Muhammad Rizwan plays a gorgeous straight drive to pick up four but is bowled off the next ball by Bas de Leede.

Rizwan is squared up a tad as he looks to work through mid-wicket and De Leede gets a little bit of movement back in to beat the Pakistan keeper between bat and pad.

The ball then crashes into the top of off stump and all of a sudden the Netherlands have two new batters at the crease and a potential opening.

Lovely execution and use of the wrists from Iftikhar.
