Netherlands had to start well for their confidence and provide a sense of 'we belong here' and that is exactly what they have done. Pakistan are on the back foot.

  2. Pak 43-3published at 10 overs

Saud Shakeel is in for Pakistan on his World Cup debut.

He gets off the mark with a boundary but it's not convincing.

He pushes at a ball outside off but the pace and bounce of Paul van Meekeren surprises him slightly and the ball flies off the edge but wide of slip for four.

    What a powerplay for Netherlands.

The Netherlands boys will be having to pinch themselves a little I think. What a start it has been. They are backing up their decision to bowl first and put the Pakistan batters under real pressure.

Van Meekeren is in the side to surprise people and that is what he has done.

    Imam c Dutt b Van Meekeren 15 (Pak 38-3)

Bounced out! Netherlands are all over Pakistan!

Paul van Meekeren comes into the attack and his extra pace shows immediately.

It's a sharp bumper, Imam-ul-Haq takes it on but top-edges the hook shot and the ball goes a long way up but not far enough.

Aryan Dutt settles himself underneath it at fine leg and take the catch.

  5. Pak 38-2published at 9 overs

Immediate intent from Mohammad Rizwan as he sweeps his first ball hard behind square.

It is just about stopped before the boundary but he gets two and then adds two more with a late cut.

Pakistan need this kind of urgency to help get themselves out of a sticky spot.

It was fractionally short from Ackermann but he doesn't get the bounce that Dutt has been getting so maybe that surprises Babar Azam. It means he can't get under or over it.

That is a huge wicket for the Netherlands. They will feel and sense there is a huge opportunity for them now.

That is a terrific catch. It is a sharp piece of fielding.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.3 overs

    Babar c Zulfiqar b Ackermann 5 (Pak 34-2)

Babar Azam is gone! Enormous wicket for Netherlands!

Colin Ackermann comes into the attack and takes the key wicket.

It's a slightly short delivery from the off-spinner, Babar tries to pull it but mistimes it and Saqib Zulfiqar takes a sharp catch at mid-wicket.

    Wow, incredible start for Netherlands.

  9. Pak 34-1published at 8 overs

Just a couple more singles to go with that boundary from Imam-ul-Haq and Pakistan look like they're starting to settle in this innings.

  10. Pak 32-1published at 7.2 overs

    Lovely shot.

Imam-ul-Haq gets to the pitch of the ball and drives Logan van Beek elegantly through the covers for four.

An impressive start but just the one wicket so far for Netherlands.

Logan van Beek got it, taking a good return catch to get rid of Fakhar Zaman...

This has been a fantastic start from Aryan Dutt. These Pakistan players are not poor players of spin but he is causing some problems for them.

They are putting pressure on Babar Azam. It feels like the Netherlands sense an opportunity to get Pakistan's star batter out.

  13. Pak 28-1published at 7 overs

Aryan Dutt is getting the odd delivery to really rag off this surface, one does enough that Babar Azam can step inside it and let it go down leg for a wide.

The Pakistan skipper pushes the last delivery through the covers for two but it's another probing over from Dutt.

Babar Azam is Pakistan's star batter, with the captain averaging 58.16 in one-day internationals coming into the tournament.

He averages 50 against pace and 78 against spin.

The right-hander is particularly strong against left-arm spin, averaging 137.25, so the Netherlands might want to hide Roelof van der Merwe from him.

There are no obvious weaknesses against any bowling type so the Netherlands will have to take any chances that come their way from Babar.

  15. Pak 24-1published at 6 overs

Imam-ul-Haq clips the ball nicely through mid-wicket for two to make it six from the over.

Pakistan are being made to work hard early in this innings.

  16. Pak 22-1published at 5.3 overs

After beating the edge the ball before, Logan van Beek offers up some width and Imam-ul-Haq thumps the ball to the boundary with a crisp square drive.

It has been a fantastic start by both bowlers. There is a little bit of swing for Logan van Beek and a little bit of hold for Aryan Dutt.

    Abhishek Jhunjhunwala
Former IPL batter on BBC Test Match Special

It feels like Pakistan are under a little bit of pressure here. One ball is spinning, the next ball isn't, so it's hard to know which line to play.

  19. Pak 18-1published at 5 overs

Big turn from Aryan Dutt and it beats Babar Azam's inside edge as the batter tries to work to leg.

Hit on the front pad and there's a huge appeal but given not out.

Dutt pleads with Scott Edwards to review but the captain restrains himself.

Good decision, the impact was outside the line.

  20. Pak 16-1published at 4 overs

Babar Azam is the new batter for Pakistan and the skipper gets off the mark with an inside edge to square leg for one.

That ends a very good, wicket-taking over from Logan van Beek.

Netherlands can be pleased with the way they've started in Hyderabad.
