  1. NZ 177-2published at 31 overs

    Ravindra 44, Mitchell 21

Six from Roelof van der Merwe's over, with the New Zealand batters using their feet well to get to the pitch and push the ball down the ground.

The last ball is too short and cut in front of square by Rachin Ravindra and they scamper back for two.

This has been a good period for the Dutch. If you don't have a mystery bowling or there's no assistance in the wicket, all you can really do is execute extremely well and ask the batter to do something they don't want to do. They are doing that pretty well at the moment.

    Thanks, Jonty.

New Zealand have really looked to kick things on since Daryl Mitchell came in.

The Netherlands haven't bowled badly at all but they could do with taking another couple of wickets quickly otherwise the Black Caps could be on for a big total.

Here comes Roelof van der Merwe to try and do just that...

  4. NZ 171-2published at 30 overs

At the 30 over mark, New Zealand sit 171-2.

A good scoring spell for them, with 69 runs coming off the last 10 overs.

That is also the end of my spell and I shall hand you over to Sam Drury to take you through the rest of this first innings.

  5. NZ 168-2published at 29.3 overs

That is brilliant from Mitchell, executing a fine scoop brilliantly which races away to the boundary.

He is really starting to play some shots and you feel these two could build an explosive partnership very quickly.

Here is how Will Young's innings came to an end.

  7. NZ 163-2published at 29 overs

After a couple of tidy overs, Van Meekeren will be frustrated after being hit for 13 there, gifting Mitchell a chance to really get himself in.

At the other end, Ravindra is on 39 at just under a run-a-ball and looks very composed.

Paul van Meekeren is so furious with himself because getting something like a free hit so early in an innings could really get Daryl Mitchell going.

Van Meekeren will be feeling deflated.

  9. NZ 161-2published at 28.4 overs

The alarm sounds and for the first time today, there is a free hit as Van Meekeren bowls a no ball.

Daryl Mitchell could not be more grateful and with a flat bat, swats it with power into the crowd for six.

That is a classic Daryl Mitchell shot. He loves to hold the pose.

That is a nice-looking shot. It was just a little chip.

  12. NZ 154-2published at 28.2 overs

A first boundary for a couple of overs is scored by Mitchell, his first of the innings, playing a check drive back over Van Meekeren and over the rope for four.

You cannot keep this New Zealand side down for too long.

  13. NZ 150-2published at 28 overs

Klein's return to the attack is a pleasing one, with New Zealand limited to just three runs off the over.

Daryl Mitchell is trying to show an intent to run quick singles and twos, but New Zealand are struggling at times to find the gaps with their shots.

Having just had the second wicket, here is a look at the first, with Van der Merwe removing Devon Conway.

  15. NZ 147-2published at 27 overs

That will do Netherlands all sorts of good. One wicket and just three runs come from Van Meekeren's over.

There is almost a run out off the final delivery of the over, Mitchell's attempt to run a quick single almost see him getting run out by the mid-on fielder, but he makes it home.

Young was just trying to get on with things there. It was back of a length from Van Meekeren, Young was looking to go down the ground but it went straight up in the air.

A huge celebration from Van Meekeren, on his knees and a fist pump.

A roar of delight from Paul van Meekeren and the Netherlands get a second wicket. At an important time, too.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 26.1 overs

Young c De Leede b Van Meekeren 70 (NZ 144-2)

    A breakthrough!

It is exactly what the Netherlands needed and Young, whose record against the Dutch is excellent, is trudging off the field.

It is a massive top edge off Van Meekeren's shorter ball that loops up and becomes an easy catch for De Leede.

  19. NZ 144-1published at 26 overs

The final ball of Singh's over is a shorter one and it is pulled away by Ravindra for a rather favourable four, with the over going for nine runs in total.

Perhaps a sign of more aggression?

This was an absolutely gorgeous six from Ravindra off Ackermann a few overs ago - one you will want to watch again and again.
