That's all from us for today after a record-breaking win for Australia, led by Glenn Maxwell's blistering 40-ball century.

You can read Callum Matthews' report here.

We'll be back tomorrow morning as England try to keep their ever dwindling World Cup hopes alive against Sri Lanka.

Thanks for joining us. Until next time, goodbye!

  2. 'We're starting to play to our potential'published at 16:20 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

Australia captain Pat Cummins: "Really happy, that's just about the complete game. As good as I could have hoped for. To put 400 on the board and defend that, I couldn't be happier."

On Maxwell's hundred: "That was crazy. A hundred-run partnership, I think we contributed equally... That was just a freak show, you've got no options as a bowler when someone is running as hot as that.

"As clean hitting as you're going to see."

On Australia's form: "I think we're starting to play to our potential and play the style we always talk about.

"The openers started really well and Steve Smith at three. A really good powerplay and that's how we want to play, get ahead of the game."

On the bowlers: "That's what we're aiming for. We bowled pretty well in the powerplay without much luck and then Adam Zampa another four-for as well."

On facing New Zealand: "They're a really good side. It's a big one, it's a World Cup and we're in a really good spot. I can't wait to get there.

"I don't think we've totally nailed a 50 overs yet with the bat. A lot of glimpses, everyone has contributed but that really clinically, three or four down getting to the 40th or 50th over. It's something to work on."

  3. 'We need to move on quickly'published at 16:17 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards: "They are a quality unit and defending 400, they've got world class bowlers and we should've been better today."

What did you need to do better today?: "Execution, you miss by fractions and he was seeing us out of the park. Full credit to the Australia batting line-up, we needed to pick up Maxwell. He got going and we couldn't stop him."

The wicket?: "It's a pretty nice wicket and the ball travels quickly across the ground. One of the better wickets we have played on."

The struggles at the top of the order?: "I think those two have been awesome in the past 18 months, we're backing him all of the way."

Game plan against Bangladesh?: "We've just got to look at a few things from this game and move on quickly."

David Warner is now on six World Cup 100s, equalling the previous record holder Sachin Tendulkar until recently overtaken. People may diminish it by saying it was only against the Netherlands, but the Dutch have proved they are more than capable of beating bigger teams.

  5. 'A perfect game'published at 16:13 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

Australia all-rounder and Player of the Match Glenn Maxwell: "It's probably something I didn't set out to do. I just tried to get a good platform. On this ground, you can cash in and it was nice to get a bit of rhythm finally and hit a few out of the middle of the bat."

What did you think was different in that innings?: "I think just making good decisions at the start of the innings, I gave myself that little bit of time and platform to get confidence."

How important was that performance for you?: "It's a huge confidence boost, a few doubts creep in when you haven't got runs. Hopefully, I can continue on this."

What does that do for Australia?: "It's like a perfect game, when you get 400 and bowl a team out for under 100, it is like a perfect game. We've had three good wins now and will look to build on that momentum now."

When your net run-rate is so highly in the positives, it is almost like having another point on the board.

Anyone on the same points as Australia will need a massive win now to get above them.

Australia's chances of reaching the last four have been boosted significantly by the margin of their victory.

Their net run-rate is 1.142, that's 2.39 better than England, whose qualification hopes have taken another hit.

Not quite a record but that is also the second biggest defeat, in terms of runs, in the history of ODI cricket.

India's 317-run thrashing of Sri Lanka in January still holds the number one spot.

The Netherlands never got going. Adam Zampa's 4-8 at the back end of the innings was simply remarkable.

Suddenly, Australia's defeats at the start of the tournament are quickly forgotten.

    Breaking

It's a record World Cup defeat and a record ODI defeat for Netherlands.

Australia have been about as dominant as it is possible to be. Adam Zampa took 4-8 and is now the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

Glenn Maxwell scored the fastest World Cup hundred, David Warner also hit a ton and the Aussies - after starting with two defeats - are flying.

Van Meekeren just snags in the dirt there. After a long convalescence, there's going to be a merciful end.

There is no way to sugar coat it, this has been an absolute pasting. Netherlands have had moments in every game, but they haven't been in it tonight.

There's slight confusion and a quick umpire review but that's it. A messy stumping wraps up the most comprehensive of Australia victories.

The ball from Adam Zampa snuck just past Paul van Meekeren's legs as he tried to sweep, Josh Inglis fumbled the take but dropped the ball back onto the stumps.

Van Meekeren's back foot was out of the crease. Game over.

There might have been a bit of umpire's call on leg stump. Australia are one away from completing oblivion.

No need to review that, a googly from Adam Zampa and Aryan Dutt is hit plumb in front.

That turned sharply so it may have been doing too much but Dutt didn't bother sending it upstairs.

    Australia are one wicket away.

He's gloved it into the boot, a good decision from the umpire.

Off the glove and Scott Edwards survives.

Pretty poor review in truth but I think Australia will just about manage with the disappointment of that.

Adam Zampa thinks he's got another as Scott Edwards tries to reverse sweep.

There's an appeal for lbw, given not out but, after a brief discussion, they send it upstairs.

Adam Zampa has bowled two overs, got 2-5 and you feel like he is going to clean up at some stage. He's had a fever, injured himself in a swimming pool. He's back to his best.

    Thanks, Stephan.

It's been a days of records and the Netherlands are in danger of claiming a couple more of the unwanted variety.

The biggest defeat in World Cup history is 275 runs, the Netherlands own biggest ODI defeat is currently 232 runs.

I wonder what Scott Edwards makes of this. The skipper has been watching from the non-striker's end. All smiles from the Aussies. Even David Warner is getting loose. Speaking of getting loose, here's Sam Drury...
