Edged... and short of slip again!

Chris Woakes has a word with Joe Root about coming in a few steps. Even when he's frustrated, he still manages to be the nicest man in the team, with a friendly grin on his face while doing so.

Here it is. The one we all enjoyed very, very much.

India were 35-2 at the end of England's powerplay. Against Afghanistan, England had conceded 75-0 at the same stage.

The ever-consistent Adil Rashid concedes just four singles from his first over.

Rohit Sharma has slowed down considerably since his explosive start. One of those 'absorbing pressure' situations.

This is the pure resilience this England team needs more than anything! That boundary stop by Malan, seemed small at the time, saved a few runs, but it built up temptation and frustration in Kohli, so he tries to hit a good ball and chala!

That must be the best powerplay England have had so far in this World Cup.

That was India's first boundary for 38 balls.

  8. Ind 35-2published at 10 overs

Ah. Chris Woakes eases the pressure with a short, wide delivery that Rohit Sharma can easily slash away for four.

It came off the edge and wasn't convincing, but it was a poor ball and never really a chance for the fielder at slip.

Woakes recovers well though, no further runs coming from the over.

England will be delighted with this powerplay score. Can they make the most of it?

India were 27-3 against Australia after 10 overs, but at that point, they knew what they needed to win.

England are up and about it. They have come out with a lot of intent, both with the ball and in the field today.

    Another maiden.

    Fair play, David Willey.

Rohit survives, having been sent back by Shreyas Iyer for a risky single.

England continue to build the pressure, though.

    Hello!

A run out? It's a direct hit from Stokes at mid-off but I think Rohit Sharma got back. Stokes shakes his head as he gets a couple of high fives.

Here's how Woakes got the opening wicket. Lovely bit of bowling.

  15. Ind 31-2published at 8 overs

My word, where has this England been?

A leading edge off Shreyas Iyer's bat just evades mid-off, before Rohit Sharma slogs into the leg side for a streaky two.

Lot of pressure on Rohit now. Another testing over from Chris Woakes.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's partnership added just one run off 17 balls.

  18. Ind 28-2published at 7 overs

New batter Shreyas Iyer gets off the mark with a single.

David Willey gets the wicket of Virat Kohli and concedes just one run from that over. Huge.

    Kohli c Stokes b Willey 0 (Ind 27-2)

    Silence!

A shot of frustration from Kohli as he was struggling to get off the mark, trying to hit David Willey down the ground but picking out Stokes at mid-off.

England are understandably delighted and Willey deserved that. He took a bit of a battering from Rohit but came back really well.

Dawid Malan definitely played his part in that wicket. Had Kohli got the boundary that he leapt to save, he wouldn't have played that shot.
