Chameera run out (Zadran) 1 (SL 185-7)

    Dushmantha Chameera is well short.

Angelo Matthews called through a single after Chameera poked one into the covers, but it was a risky call at best.

Ibrahim Zadran throws it down at the non-striker's end and it's not even a debate.

Things unraveling for Sri Lanka here.

There's plenty of smiles among the Afghanistan players. They look pretty convinced this is out.

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 40 overs

Brilliant fielding from Ibrahim Zadran as a direct throw has Dushmantha Chameera looking well short of his ground.

It's been sent upstairs for a check by the on-field umpires.

It is difficult to know what would be a good score as this World Cup has been so unpredictable.

With have seen several times that a score just below par is enough so Sri Lanka won't want to overstretch now and end scoring far fewer runs than they should.

The score predictor says 257, which I think Sri Lanka would take right now.

  5. SL 186-6published at 39.4 overs

    Rashid Khan continues.

Here's that beauty from the Afghan spinner to dismiss Dhananjaya de Silva. What the clip doesn't show is the quite brilliant set-up.

Sri Lanka lose another wicket just as a partnership was starting to build.

We are into the lower order now so they need to be careful and make sure they bat out their overs.

That was shot of a player feeling under pressure to score a little quicker.

    Asalanka c Rashid b Farooqi 22 (SL 180-6)

The pressure has got to Charith Asalanka. Short. Miscued pull. Dolly of a catch.

It was dug in by Fazalhaq Farooqi and Asalanka can only toe end it up in the air. Rashid Khan has an easy take at mid-on.

Asalanka rehearses the shot as he trudges off.

  9. SL 180-5published at 38.4 overs

Both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan coached by former England players, you will be aware, in the form of Chris Silverwood and Jonathan Trott respectively.

Fazalhaq Farooqi starts with four dots to Charith Asalanka. Pressure building. Sri Lanka need to up the ante here.

  10. SL 179-5published at 38 overs

Two dots and two singles to finish with from Rashid Khan.

Will Hashmatullah Shahidi hold a few back for him?

When you win the toss and elect to bowl, you have to have a number that you are happy to chase.

If you can get the opposition under that then you're happy. So Afghanistan will be quite pleased.

  12. SL 177-5published at 37.2 overs

Rashid Khan, with number 19 emblazoned on his back, into his seventh over.

His first ball, round the wicket to Charith Asalanka, is a beauty. It's fizzed in, grips and spits off the pitch to take the edge of the Sri Lankan's bat. There's not slip in place and it races away for four.

Incredibly, the spinner shows he is human by bowling a wide which beats the dive of stand-in wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

When you see a shot like that from Angelo Mathews it is a sign a batter is not in form. He has not played a lot of cricket recently.

  14. SL 168-5published at 36.4 overs

Afghanistan are in the ascendancy here. Sri Lanka have left themselves with a bit to do.

Angelo Mathews is surprised by the pace of a short ball from Fazalhaq Farooqi and withdraw from a pull shot after it got big on him.

There's a brief delay as a member of the local Pune constabulary moves behind the bowler's arm.

It is exactly the same delivery as the previous ball but the batter did not pick the spin. Perfect length, perfect line, but this time the googly. As a batter you cannot do a lot about that.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 36 overs

    De Silva b Rashid 14 (SL 167-5)

A brilliant set-up by Rashid Khan.

He absolutely flummoxed Dhananjaya de Silva with four deliveries, then got him with the final ball of the over.

Once again it is the one that goes the other way from the Afghanistan spinner and this time it skids through the gate and hits middle.

    De Silva looked absolutely clueless.

Rashid Khan does not get as many wickets in ODI cricket because batters do not have the urgency to play big shots against him, you have time to go after the other bowlers instead.

In T20 those four overs he bowls are so crucial you have to go after him and play attacking strokes, hence he gets more wickets.

  18. SL 167-4published at 35.5 overs

Rashid Khan, box fresh white bowling spikes on, is spinning his web.

His third delivery to Dhananjaya de Silva is a well disguised googly which is not picked by the Sri Lanka batter who gets a rather fortunate inside edge.

De Silva plays and misses to the leggie's fifth ball.

    Superb stuff this.

What you don't want to do is go too early. Right now, Sri Lanka just need to bat and build a partnership.

They have plenty of time. There is nothing to worry about. Just bat.
