It looks pretty plumb. I just can't see how this isn't out.

  2. Sri Lanka reviewpublished at 29.1 overs

Mujeeb Ur Rahman strikes Sadeera Samarawickrama on the back pad. It's given out on field by umpire Richard Illingworth.

Afghanistan celebrate but the Sri Lanka batter decides to review.

  3. SL 139-3published at 29 overs

"Shabash shabash!" encourages Afghanistan stand-in wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz behind the stumps to another over from Mohmmad Nabi.

He is keeping after an injury to Ikram Alikhil.

It's low on the bat and he just tugs it leg side. Kusal Mendis never really got going.

It's out of the back of the hand from Mujeeb, as usual, but a strange shot from Mendis.

Afghanistan get a foothold back in the game.

  5. SL 134-3published at 28 overs

Two dots to finish the over from Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Afghanistan have been very patient here.

It's a poor shot and Mendis gives away his wicket.

    Mendis c sub (Zadran) b Mujeeb 39 (SL 134-3)

Kusal Mendis had done all the hard work but senses the need to up the ante to prevent

However, he comes a cropper. The Sri Lanka skipper hits across the line to Mujeeb Ur Rahman and his slog sweep does not have the power on it to clear substitute fielder Najibullah Zadran stationed out at deep mid-wicket.

Straight into Zadran's hands. He barely had to move.

  8. SL 131-2published at 27 overs

Mohammad Nabi starts with four dots in his third over.

He's bowling some good tight lines. A single apiece for Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama at the end of the over.

A bit of a game of cat and mouse at the moment in Pune. Mendi is capable of some aggressive strokeplay but he's been relatively cautious so far.

  9. SL 129-2published at 26 overs

Mujeeb Ur Rahman continues with his rather stilted and stiff action and Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kusal Mendis retreat into their shells a little.

Content to prod and poke three singles off the over. You sense Afghanistan will not mind this.

Here's the wicket of Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka from a little while ago.

  10. SL 125-2published at 25 overs

Sri Lanka continue with their farming of the strike against Mohammad Nabi, A couple off singles and a couple of twos bring them six runs off the over.

The full list of cricketing international teams that Nabi has conquered during his lengthy career, courtesy of my colleague Nick Friend at the The Cricketer.

Denmark, Bahrain, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Iran, Thailand, Japan, Bahamas, Botswana, Jersey, Fiji, Tanzania, Italy, Argentina, Papua New Guinea, Cayman Islands, Oman, China, Singapore, Pakistan, Trinidad and Tobago, USA, Bhutan, Maldives, Barbados, Uganda. Bermuda, Ireland, Scotland, Namibia, Netherlands, Canada, Kenya, Hong Kong, UAE, Zimbabwe, West Indies, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and England.

    That's some cricketing CV.

  11. SL119-2published at 24 overs

Spin from both ends, as per the norm of the middle overs in ODI cricket. Four singles milked off Mujeeb Ur Rahman's sixth over.

There was a big yelp of "catch it!" from behind the stumps but that was comfortably over the mid-wicket fielder.

    The runs are flowing now.

  13. SL 115-2published at 23 overs

Veteran Mohammad Nabi into the attack for the first time today.

Quite remarkably, he's been on the winning side against 43 countries in the world of international cricket.

There's a glimmer of a chance from his penultimate Sadeera Samarawickrama advances and whips it into the leg side, just over the head of the fielder at mid-wicket.

Nice way to finish the over, Rashid Khan was going for just singles before that.

It's the wrong 'un and it comes in nicely to the right-hander but Kusal Mendis found the gap well with the slog sweep.

  15. SL 106-2published at 22 overs

Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama content to knock Rashid Khan into the gaps for singles.

However, off the final ball of the over Mendis picks the googly from the Afghan spinner and slog sweeps it to the fence.

    Clever batting.

All 10 sides can still make the Cricket World Cup semi-finals. Mathematically at least...

Tournament hosts India look almost certain to make the last four, while South Africa, New Zealand and Australia currently occupy the remaining qualification positions.

But the chasing pack, even holders England, know a late run of results could see them make it through instead.

We've done the key calculations and worked out what each team needs from their remaining games which you can read here...

Short and it just sat up for Samarawickrama, who pulled it away nicely.

  18. SL 98-2published at 21 overs

Azmatullah Omarzai bangs his fourth ball into the pitch in a bid to unsettle new batter Sadeera Samarawickrama, but the Sri Lankan gets over the top and swats it to mid-wicket for four.

A classy shot from Samarawickrama to finish the over, too, as he drives gloriously through the covers for another four.

Looks like a scorcher in Pune. A few more fans are starting to trickle into the ground.
