  1. SL 137-5published at 25 overs

I'm still in shock. They seem to be as well because the stadium has got a lot quieter.

Angelo Mathews is still seething on the sideline before eventually heading back to the dressing room.

Two wickets for Bangladesh in a very controversial over.

Mathews throws down his helmet and his bat.

This is really quite baffling at this level of cricket, you do not expect to see this sort of thing.

Mathews timed out 0 (SL 135-5)

    Wow.

Angelo Mathews is livid as he walks off. He wasn't ready to face his first ball within two minutes, he wasn't and Bangladesh appealed.

Sri Lanka can't believe it, Mathews explained that he had an issue with his helmet but the umpires had no choice once Bangladesh chose to uphold the appeal.

I've never seen this before, not even in club cricket let alone in a World Cup match!

How much arguing can you do over a helmet. What puzzles me is that Mathews is holding two helmets.

  5. SL 135-4published at 24.2 overs

We've got a delay due to something to do with Angelo Mathews' helmet.

In fact, I think Bangladesh might have appealed for timed out because he wasn't ready.

The umpires are talking to the batters, this could be very interesting...

An easy enough catch. Mahmudullah must think is there anybody else out here doing the work bar me.

    Samarawickrama c Mahmudullah b Shakib 41 (SL 135-4)

Straight to the man in the deep!

Having found the gap with a slow-sweep the previous delivery, Sadeera Samarawickrama tries to find the boundary again.

He advances to Shakib Al Hasan and whips the ball leg side but straight into the hands of Mahmudullah a couple of yards off the rope.

A bit of a giveaway from Samarawickrama.

I do get frustrated and annoyed by the fickle nature of the supporters. When the team's struggling, they need the supporters the most.

  9. SL 131-3published at 24 overs

A good over from Shoriful Islam on his return to the attack.

He hits a good hard length to end it with the ball thudding into the splice of Charith Asalanka's bat.

That looks to be the area to hit for the seamers today.

Sri Lanka will be pleased with how it's going. In terms of their target of 300, they are well on their way.

I don't think Bangladesh will be disappointed with the way its going either.

We are hoping for a good, close game, as we do for all matches, but particularly this one.

  12. SL 128-3published at 23 overs

Shakib Al Hasan races through another over for the cost of only three singles.

The pace at which he gets through his overs not only helps the over-rate but rushes the batters, who have next to no time to gather themselves between deliveries.

A shot like that didn't come of the bottom of the bat, it came from quite high up, which gives it the pace.

  14. 50 runs

    SL 125-3published at 22 overs

The fifty partnership comes up a boundary as Sadeera Samarawickrama not only manages to dig out a yorker-length ball but squeeze it out backward of point for four.

Eight from Mehidy Hasan Miraz's over.

Talking about the air pollution earlier on. It's looking okay today. It's something that is certainty worth keeping an eye on. The umpires are treating it as weather conditions.

  16. Cricket against a backdrop of 'a toxic haze'published at 10:08 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2023

Monday’s match is being played in a city that continues to top the real-time list of the world’s most polluted year after year.

The Indian capital is enveloped in an ugly toxic haze of yellow and grey - you can feel the pollution on your skin and taste it in your throat.

On Monday afternoon, government data shows that the city’s AQI – the air quality index which monitors the levels of PM2.5, the lung-damaging tiny particles in the air that can cause cancer and cardiac problems – is 411.

In some places, such as the Delhi airport, it’s 472. Levels of PM2.5 below 50 are considered "good" and under 100 "satisfactory".

Experts blame the severe pollution on high volumes of traffic, construction activity, burning of crop residue in the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana, use of fireworks during the festival season and the start of the cold weather which can trap pollutants in the lower atmosphere for long periods of time.

The authorities, like every year, are struggling to contain the pollution levels. Schools have been ordered shut until the end of the week, all construction work has been halted and trucks have been barred from entering the city unless carrying essential items like food and medicines.

  17. SL 117-3published at 21 overs

Very tidy over from Shakib Al Hasan.

Just four singles from the over with Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama happy to rotate the strike.

    Thanks, Callum.

This partnership is now worth 41 to help Sri Lanka get themselves out of a bit of trouble.

It's looking nicely poised at this stage.

  19. SL 113-3published at 20 overs

Five runs come off Mehidy Hasan Miraz's third over.

Sadeera Samarawickrama has a run-a-ball 25 and Charith Asalanka has 21, including these two beautiful sixes.

To see if the pair can carry on and build a good platform for Sri Lanka, here's Sam Drury.

Yeah, too much spin. It's sliding past leg stump.

Sadeera Samarawickrama throws his head back and purses his lips in relief.
