  1. SL 38-1published at 7 overs

Tanzim Hasan, on World Cup debut, replaces Shoriful Islam. He's already got his hands on his head. Twice in fact.

Pathum Nissanka takes on a well-directed bounder and a top-edge just clears Mushfiqur Rahim and runs away for four.

Tanzim is fuller next ball, drawing the outside edge of Nissanka's bat, but Bangladesh have taken their slip out and it goes to the boundary.

Lovely stuff from Nissanka. Full face of the blade - a great advert for his bat maker.

Watching Kusal Mendis and his set up is brilliant. He's getting into really good positions and playing some excellent shots.

But maybe he is just being a bit too organised. Maybe he needs to just open the blade up slightly to get the scoreboard ticking over.

  4. SL 29-1published at 6 overs

Kusal Mendis is off the mark from his 14th ball. Taskin Ahmed again has him prodding outside off stump, and then targets the stumps, but ends up straying and Mendis is able to tick into mid-wicket for a single.

While Mendis is struggling, Pathum Nissanka is going about his business beautifully. He picks up another boundary with an on-drive, slightly off the inside of the bat, but it races away still.

This wicket looks good. I fancy a bat on this.

Some of the shots we've seen Nissanka play have been very impressive.

The shot of a man in form.

When you are in form and you get a bad ball, you don't want to miss out.

  7. SL 24-1published at 5 overs

Taskin Ahmed is building pressure at one end but Shoriful Islam, despite finding the breakthrough, is releasing it at the other.

He offers Pathum Nissanka too much width and the opener climbs into it to crunch a drive away to the cover fence.

Here's how Bangladesh picked up the wicket of Kusal Perera in the first over.

A superb catch from Mushfiqur Rahim.

Lovely over from Taskin, he's a skilful bowler.

He's struggled with injuries the last couple of years. But when he's fit and firing, he's a real weapon for Bangladesh.

  10. SL 18-1published at 4 overs

A really good probing maiden from Taskin Ahmed.

He's testing Mendis outside his off stump, before sending one back in that hits the Sri Lanka on the pads but it is too high and probably shaping past leg stump.

Mendis started the tournament with a 76 and 122 but has only scored 71 runs in five innings since taking on the captaincy.

Beautiful strike. Just a little punch, that's all it was and that's a confidence-boosting boundary for Nissanka.

  13. SL 18-1published at 3 overs

    Pathum Nissanka, stop it.

He picks up his first boundary with a punch through point, before an even better on-drive brings him four more. Superb strokes.

He finishes the over with a third. It is slightly on the up through cover but it races past mid-off and away.

It looks a hot and humid day.

Early bragging rights for the Tigers. They've got a little bit of shape, it's not hooping around but enough movement and the keeper and slip look like they're going to be in business.

Sri Lanka on the back foot early.

  15. SL 6-1published at 2 overs

Taskin Ahmed takes the second new ball and concedes just a single down to third from his opening over.

There's a little bit of movement out there for the quicks at the moment.

That was stunning. Great bit of footwork from Mushfiqur Rahim.

He gave himself a good base to launch from and then the commitment was superb. Technique, spot on.

What a spectacular catch! That is stunning behind the stumps!

That is one of the most spectacular wicketkeeper catches that you'll ever see. Mushfiqur, you absolute star!

    Superb grab!

More width from Shoriful Islam and Kusal Perera can't resist a big booming drive.

This time it catches the outside edge and Mushfiqur Rahim flies across first slip and takes it high up with his left hand. It just sticks in the webbing.

It perhaps should have been first slips catch, but a superb take nonetheless.

    Terrific shot.

    Shoriful just overpitched.
