That really should be that, but Ravindra misses the stumps on a run out chance.

Madushanka just dabs at his first ball, it finds the point fielder and there is a mix-up as Sri Lanka go for a single.

It's thrown to Ravindra, who should run out Madushanka but fails to as he fumbles it.

If he had, or there was a direct hit, that would be that.

Caught at first sight. That offered a very simple loopy pass to Boult at point.

  3. wicket

    Chameera c Boult b Ravindra 1 (SL 128-9)

    As easy as you like.

Ravindra's first ball back into the attack and the first ball after the drinks break is skewed off the bat with a thick outside edge and gifts Boult the easiest of easy catches at point.

A real gift for New Zealand, not that they needed one.

With Mitchell Santner bowled out, it's time for a bit more of Rachin Ravindra.

It's pretty much gone all New Zealand's way today.

Joel Wilson gets that decision absolutely spot on.

  7. Not outpublished at 32 overs

    SL 128-8

On slow-mo, that looked really close, but surprisngly, it is missing all three stumps on ball tracking. A second review lost, but hardly a wasted one compared to their last review.

Sri Lanka scored just 14-1 between overs 21 to 30 of this innings.

Another maiden from Trent Boult in the 32nd over. Tidy stuff.

We are all behind Trent Boult here. It's slightly surprising they have gone upstairs from the angle of the bat.

  9. Umpire reviewpublished at 32 overs

The final ball of this maiden over from Trent Boult hits Theekshana's pad and New Zealand take it upstairs. Didn't look like any bat involved but perhaps it may be tight on the leg side.

You have got to make your fun from whenever you can. New Zealand are trying to make this game fun.

This is marvellous, Phillips is now down on his knees. He's the kind of guy who would volunteer for fielding a yard from the batter.

  12. SL 128-8published at 31 overs

Santner's final over sees just three singles taken from it and he finishes with figures of 2-22, superb stuff.

We also saw more of Glenn Phillips' short gully fielding in that over, a joy to watch.

That wasn't the toughest of catches for Trent Boult.

  14. dropped catch

Chameera dropped on 0published at 30 overs

That could and should have been the ninth wicket to fall. Chameera, facing his 17th ball, drives that back at Boult, who gets his left hand to it but does not snaffle the catch.

A missed chance to have Sri Lanka nine down, but it is a maiden over.

Santner hasn't changed in his action. He has been a cricketer for New Zealand for a long time now in white ball cricket. He's been brilliant for New Zealand in this World Cup. He's tall and he is always able to produce that bounce to exaggerate that turn.

  16. SL 125-8published at 29 overs

Quick and without any damage, Mitchell Santner's penultimate over of his allocation is a maiden.

Trent Boult returns in place of Ferguson, having claimed three of these eight wickets so far.

I have no nerves about this partnership. Sri Lanka are just trying to eke this out.

  18. SL 125-8published at 28 overs

Cricket is a funny old game, isn't it? But for England's hopes of salvaging anything from this World Cup, Sri Lanka's performance will only help their chances of qualifying for the 2025 Champions Trophy, if it continues in this fashion.

Lockie Ferguson is again inexpensive, conceding just the one single.
