  1. Good nightpublished at 02:25 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2023

That's us for tonight - take a read of Sam Drury's report and then get yourself off to bed.

We're back on Thursday for a bumper day of cricket. England Women start us off at 04:00 GMT with the first day of the one-off Test against India.

That's followed by the men's side trying to avenge tonight's defeat in the second match of this five-game series - that's a more sociable 17:30 GMT start.

    Sleep well.

  2. 'There's still room to grow'published at 02:21 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2023

West Indies captain Rovman Powell: "It's a top performance. After we came out of the powerplay, we got information about what the pitch is doing, and it's good to see our batters stand up for the counting.

"I try not to be captain when I'm batting, the role is pressuring. I try to be a batter first, I'm a captain off the field and when I set the field, but apart from that I try to play my natural game.

"There's still room to grow, we haven't controlled the powerplay particularly well. Once we can, a lot of teams don't have power hitters and they'll be on the back foot trying to catch up on the back end.

"We're not at the World Cup yet. Our focus is on Grenada, trying to get our combinations right, try to fix them series by series so in six months we're in a good space."

  3. 'We were looking for around 200 after our start'published at 02:20 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2023

England captain Jos Buttler: "It was always going to get hard, the way the pitch played. But from the position we were in, we were looking for a score more around 200.

"We want to keep pushing the boundaries and be as positive as we can but it is finding the ways to keep scoring in that way.

"Today as it got harder and harder, trying to minimise dot balls and pick off certain areas - that extra 20-25 runs in unfashionable ways. That's something we can reflect.

"We fought hard with the ball. Conditions, with the ball getting wet, changed quite a bit and West Indies hit some big sixes, a trademark of theirs.

"We need to find ways to close them down.

"The start was fantastic. I thought Phil Salt was brilliant, the intent he played with is a huge positive. Back end of our batting innings, how can we score more runs? And how can we take away their six-hitting?"

  4. 'Life is so funny'published at 02:17 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2023

Player of the match Andre Russell: "Life is so funny. When I got selected, I keep dreaming, for two weeks now, that I would be man of the match. I didn't know how it would happen, and I give my thanks tonight.

"Since the end of the CPL season the wicket's been up and down, two pace, cutters seem to work well. We try to take pace off, when you look at most of England's boundaries it was pace on. We pulled it back very well.

"Batting with the skipper, we have a good understanding. He was telling me back yourself, but take a few deliveries. We knew he had power, I had power. We can't take anything for granted, we had to finish the game and finish it well."

A win with eleven balls to spare for the West Indies, they're in rich form in this format and will be delighted with that victory.

England had a decent start with the bat, but fell away. They may have fancied their chances after four wickets fell either side of the rain delay, but Russell and Powell finished the match decisively.

  6. West Indies win by four wicketspublished at 18.1 overs

    That's that though!

Andre Russell carves Sam Curran away for four and that's the match. A short-ish delivery and he cuts uppishly, one bounce and over the ropes.

He finishes on 29 from 14 deliveries, while captain Rovman Powell has 31 from 15.

  7. WI 168-6published at 18 overs

    4 needed from 12 balls

Well, OK, we'll do it in more than one shot - Russell takes a single into the leg side and Powell sees off a dot ball.

  8. WI 167-6published at 17.4 overs

    5 needed from 14 balls

    Smashed through the covers!

Another four for Russell, he moves to 24 and the West Indies are one shot away from victory.

    Absolutely gigantic.

Can you believe it's been two years since Andre Russell's last appearance for the West Indies?

He makes up for lost time, slog sweeping Adil Rashid for a mighty six that bounces off the top of the scoreboard and out of the ground.

  10. WI 157-6published at 17 overs

    15 needed from 18 balls

Four more! Bit of width and this time it's Powell who cuts viciously to the boundary.

15 from the over and under a run a ball required.

  11. 6 runs

    WI 150-6published at 16.4 overs

Well, when Andre Russell takes a swing, the ball tends to travel however cleanly he strikes it.

Pace on from the returning Tymal Mills and a top edge flies for six behind fine leg.

    150 up to boot.

And just to illustrate that, WinViz has reversed over the course of one over.

    WI 141-6published at 16 overs

Well, it's sedate start to Liam Livingstone's over - just four singles - but then Rovman Powell takes flight.

He lofts the England spinner over the long-on fence and follows up with a mighty drive over the covers for back to back sixes.

The captain has swung the direction of the game back in his side's favour.

Time for a quick look at WinViz - it has England as favourites by a decent margin.

  15. WI 125-6published at 14 overs

    47 needed from 30 balls

No hat-trick on this occasion, as Andre Russell fends off his first delivery.

He then mis-hits a ball just short of Chris Woakes at backward point, getting two from it.

    Shepherd c Curran b Rehan Ahmed 0 (WI 123-6)

    Two in two!

Rehan Ahmed has Romario Shepherd first ball and is on a hat-trick!

Just a tentative prod from the new batter and Sam Curran gathers the edge hungrily at slip.

    Hope c Brook b Ahmed 36 (WI 123-5)

    Six and out!

Shai Hope drops to one knee and slog sweeps Rehan Ahmed for six but the young leggie gets his man from the following delivery, tossing the ball up and Hope deposits the ball into the hands of Harry Brook running in from long-on.

  18. WI 117-4published at 14 overs

    55 needed from 36 balls

Jos Buttler introduces a seventh bowler into his attack as Liam Livingstone takes the ball.

The West Indies work him for five singles, but that's a useful over from the England all-rounder.

  19. WI 112-4published at 13 overs

    60 needed from 42 balls

    We're back!

Two balls to bowl from Rehan Ahmed's third over and Rovman Powell guides the first of them to third boundary for four.

Ahmed follows up with a dot.

As we await the return of the players, just a quick reminder that England Women's Test against India starts at 04:00 GMT on Thursday.

My colleague Callum Matthews has written about how pace, rather than spin, may be the decisive factor in the match. Give it a read, eh?
