  1. Eng 85-1published at 8 overs

Romario Shepherd is into the attack now and it is another good over.

He keeps England to just five singles from it.

However, such was the tourists' start, they're still going at more than 10 and a half an over.

  2. Eng 80-1published at 7 overs

Will Jacks is the new batter for England. He's off the mark with a single and it is a good over from Andre Russell.

Just three from it, plus the wicket of Phil Salt. West Indies will hope to regain a bit of control after England's rapid start.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.1 overs

    Salt c Hetmyer b Russell 40 (Eng 77-1)

Superb catch in the deep from Shimron Hetmyer. West Indies needed that.

Phil Salt cracks the ball high into the leg side but it's not got the distance and Hetmyer takes it at deep mid-wicket.

His momentum might of taken him over the boundary cushion so he calmly throws the ball up, steps out then hops back in to complete the catch.

Andre Russell has a wicket on his international comeback.

  4. Eng 77-0published at 6 overs

It goes from bad to worse for West Indies as a slower ball from Alzarri Joseph goes down the leg side, bounces awkwardly for Nicholas Pooran and through his legs.

Five wides. Just the 26 from the final over of the powerplay.

  5. Eng 70-0published at 5.4 overs

England are flying! A no-ball from Alzarri Joseph gifts Jos Buttler a free hit and he drills it back past mid-on for four.

  6. 6 runs

    Eng 61-0published at 5.3 overs

Stand and deliver from Phil Salt.

He stays stock still and nails Alzarri Jospeh back over his head for four.

Six! Carved over deep backward this time. Impressive batting from the England openers.

  7. Eng 51-0published at 5 overs

    Salt 29, Buttler 20

That maximum brought up the fifty partnership in good time from the England openers.

Jos Buttler had been very frustrated not to get a wide call the ball before the six but can have no complaints after being beaten all end sup by a slower ball to end the over.

  8. 6 runs

    Eng 51-0published at 4.5 overs

Plenty of bat on that ramp shot!

Fuller from Andre Russell and Jos Buttler goes across his stumps to lift the ball over fine leg for the first six of the night.

  9. Not outpublished at 4.3 overs

    Eng 45-0

Nothing on UltraEdge and Jos Buttler survives.

Good decision by the umpire because the ball was very close to the bat and there was a noise.

The technology shows it wasn't bat, though.

  10. West Indies reviewpublished at 4.3 overs

    Eng 45-0

Jos Buttler goes for the ramp and West Indies think he has tickled it through to the wicketkeeper.

Andre Russell is convinced and Rovman Powell sends it upstairs.

  11. Eng 45-0published at 4.1 overs

Brilliant from Jos Buttler to welcome Andre Russell back to international cricket.

A back of a length delivery and Buttler nails it over mid-off for four off the back foot.

    That's some shot!

  12. Eng 41-0published at 4 overs

Muscled over mid-off with just enough timing to clear the fielder by Phil Salt.

That brings him two to end another productive over for England.

Two overs left in the powerplay.

  13. Eng 37-0published at 3.2 overs

Phil Salt is in the mood tonight!

He hammers a pull shot brilliantly over mid-wicket to start Jason Holder's over.

The field is changed so Salt changes it up, too, backing away before thumping the next ball over cover for four more.

  14. Eng 29-0published at 3 overs

After Phil Salt gets lucky with a shot that hangs in the air but finds the gap in the covers, a single brings Jos Buttler on strike.

It's his first look at the left-arm spin of Akeal Hosein and with the ball turning, mid-off is kept up.

Buttler accepts the invitation and crunches a drive all along the ground, straight of the fielder for four.

  15. Eng 22-0published at 2 overs

    Salt 15, Buttler 5

That will give Jos Buttler a boost as he bids to rediscover his best form.

It's a ball on a length from Jason Holder and with mid-on up, the England skipper is able to pump it over the top for four.

England take nine from an over extended by a couple of wides.

The fielders race around at the end of the over. If they're in more of a hurry than usual, that's because this is the first game of the play clock trial.

Fielding teams have a minute from the end of one over to be ready to bowl the first ball of the next. Fail to do so on three occasions and the batting side will be awarded five penalty runs.

  17. Eng 13-0published at 1 over

Phil Salt goes back to thump his third boundary of the over.

He gave himself room and threaded the ball through the off side for four.

A single means he'll keep strike and Jos Buttler stays at the non-striker's end.

  18. Eng 8-0published at 0.3 overs

    Edged... but four!

Phil Salt goes back to a ball that goes straight on from Akeal Hosein, throws the bat at it and goes flying past the fielder at slip.

It went at a catchable height but there was no time for Shai Hope to react.

Four more! Out of the middle this time. Swept firmly behind square by Phil Salt.

  19. Postpublished at 22:01 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

Right then, we're ready for the off and it will be spin to start for West Indies.

Akeal Hosein will bowl to Phil Salt.
